  • jQuery validation plugin doens't work for me

    - by Idsa
I have the following code to enable validation work: $(document).ready(function() { $("#eventForm").validate({ rules: { startDate: "required", startTime: "required", endDate: { required: function (element) { var endTimeValue = $('#endTime').val(); return (endTimeValue != null && endTimeValue != ''); } }, endTime: { required: function (element) { var endDateValue = $('#endDate').val(); return (endDateValue != null && endDateValue != ''); } } }, messages: { startDate: "Please enter event local start date", startTime: "Please enter event local start time" }, errorPlacement: function (error, element) { error.appendTo(element.parent().next()); }, submitHandler: function (form) { var options = { dataType: 'json', success: eventCreationSuccess, error: eventCreationError }; alert('submit'); //$(form).ajaxSubmit(options); } }); }); But validation plugin doesn't catch submit - default submit is executed. jQuery and validation plugin scripts are imported.

  • FOSS HTML to PDF in Python, .Net or command line?

    - by jle
I have google as much as I possible, checked stackoverflow several times, and yet I can not find a good html to pdf converter that can handle css. Is there a free and open source solution (even for commercial usage)? There are many solutions, with huge variety of price ranges, but I was looking for something open source and free. I have tried PISA for Python and it works fairly well, but is not free for commercial usage. Is there anything for .Net? I have not had success with iTextSharp.

  • How to create a HTML world map with GeoDjango ?

    - by pierre-guillaume-degans
The GeoDjango tutorial explains how to insert world borders into a spatial database. I would like to create a world Map in HTML with these data, with both map and area tags. Something like that. I just don't know how to retrieve the coordinates for each country (required for the area's coords attribute). from world.models import WorldBorders for country in WorldBorders.objects.all(): print u'<area shape="poly" title="%s" alt="%s" coords="%s" />' % (v.name, v.name, "???") Thanks !

  • Range validation not working properly in MVC3

    - by Colin Desmond
I am generating data validation javascript in an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with the following code [DisplayName("Latitude Degrees")] [Range(0, 90, ErrorMessage = "Latitude degrees must be between {1} and {2}")] public Int32? LatitudeDegrees { get; set; } on a view model. When it was MVC2 this worked just fine, if I entered a value outside of 0-90 in the textbox I got the validation warnings. Since I moved the application to MVC 3, whenever I put any value into the texbox, legal or illegal I get the validation error appear next to it. I have EnableClientValidation set to true and UseUnobtrusiveJavascript is off (nothing in web.config or the views to turn it on).

  • How can you logically group HTML elements without taking the help of CSS classes ?

    - by Perpetualcoder
I know that in jQuery you can use something like $(".cssClass") to get all elements with this class. However in plain html and javascript how do you group elements logically? For example: <input id="fee1" data-id="1" data-group="Fees" type="text" value="$15.00"/> <input id="fee2" data-id="2" data-group="Fees" type="text" value="$25.00"/> <input id="fee3" data-id="3" data-group="Fees" type="text" value="$35.00"/> I want to create a javascript function like this: function GetByDataGroup(dataGroup){ /* returns something like [[1,"$15.00"],[2,"$25.00"],[3,"$35.00"]]*/ } EDIT : Due to some political reasons I cant use jQuery or any framework..i know it doesnt make sense :)

  • How can I use html/javascript to make <a> link trigger an embedded flash object?

    - by MikeN
Using HTML/Javascript I want to make an link trigger a flash object that is normally triggered by clicking on the flash itself. The flash objects is actually the "Call Me Now" button from Google Voice which looks something like: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="https://clients4.google.com/voice/embed/webCallButton" width="230" height="85"> <param name="movie" value="https://clients4.google.com/voice/embed/webCallButton"/> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="FlashVars" /> </object> When you click on the object the first time it brings up a set of fields to enter your phone number in to make the call. So I want to be able to trigger that action by having a user click on a different link (which would actually be the phone number that the widget would call.)

  • Where do I put the links to my Javascript/jQuery files in my html file?

    - by Qlidnaque
I recently noticed that some (not all) of my javascript and jQuery scripts wouldn't work unless I put the link for the .js files nearer towards the bottom of the page instead of the head area where I put my links for my .css files. From what I understand, javascript can go in either places and it is recommended to not be put in the header as it slows down the page loading process as well. At the same time, if I put it in the body tag of the html file, it looks somewhat messy and was wondering what the best practice is for putting .js files in a cleanly place. Should I always put it at the very bottom right before the ending body tag? How do professional web developers handle this?

  • Where is the best place to put <script> tags in HTML markup?

    - by mipadi
When embedding JavaScript in an HTML document, where is the best place to put the <script> tags and included JavaScript? I seem to recall that you are not supposed to place these in the <head> section, but placing at the beginning of the <body> section is bad, too, since the JavaScript will have to be parsed before the page is rendered completely (or something like that). This seems to leave the end of the <body> section as a logical place for <script> tags. So, where is the best place to put the <script> tags? (This question references this question, in which it was suggested that JavaScript function calls should be moved from <a> tags to <script> tags. I'm specifically using JQuery, but more general answers are also appropriate.)

  • What is the syntax for a checked checkbox in HTML?

    - by Fiona Holder
Sounds like a bit of a silly question, but I am wondering what is the best way of stating that a checkbox is checked/unchecked in HTML. I have seen many different examples: <input type="checkbox" checked="checked" /> <input type="checkbox" /> <input type="checkbox" checked="yes" /> <input type="checkbox" checked="no" /> <input type="checkbox" checked="true" /> <input type="checkbox" checked="false" /> Which browsers work with which ones of these, and most importantly, does jQuery figure out which box is checked in all 3?

  • Use CSS selectors to collect HTML elements from a streaming parser (e.g. SAX stream)

    - by Jakub Narebski
How to parse CSS (CSS3) selector and use it (in jQuery-like way) to collect HTML elements not from DOM (from tree structure), but from stream (e.g. SAX), i.e. using sequential access parser? Are there CSS selectors that need access to DOM (Wikipedia SAX page says that XPath selectors "need to be able to access any node at any time in the parsed XML tree")? I am most inetersted in implementing selector combinators, e.g. 'A B' descendant selector. I prefer solutions describing algorithm, or in Perl.

  • How to read back and print text with newlines from a Python (Django) string with HTML?

    - by user1801486
If someone types in a phrase, such as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. (no blank lines between each line, but the text is written on three separate lines) into a text box on a web page, and then presses a button which is then stored in a database via Django, and that string is read back and printed on a page, how can I get it to print on an HTML page with the newlines still in the text? So instead of it being printed back as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. It would print as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. I know that if I use: (textarea)soAndSo.body(/textarea), this preserves the newlines that were in the file when the user typed it up originally. How can I get this same effect, but without having to use textarea boxes?

  • Using JavaScript to render HTML; nothing appearing but values will alert

    - by Jack Roscoe
Hi, I'm taking some information from some variables I have already defined outside this function to create a html svg text box. Here is the function which is causing me trouble: RenderTextBox:function() { alert('this.x: ' + this.x); alert('this.y: ' + this.y); this.textBox = paper.text(this.x, this.y, this.htmlTextBox); } The alerts works prefectly, and prompt me with the values expected. However, the final line which is supposed to create the text box puts them nowhere to be seen. Does anybody know why? If I replace 'this.x, this.y..' with numerical values in the final line of the function, the text box is placed correctly. It's only when I use the 'this.x' and 'this.y' that I have issues.

  • Manually Dispatching a DocumentEvent for testing UI element validation code

    - by Bassam
Hi. I'm testing a Swing GUI application using the UISpec4J testing framework. I'm testing validation code on a JTextField, but the framework does not support focus-change events, as it runs the application in a headless fashion. The text field has a DocumentEvent attached to it that activates the validation code. I'm trying to figure out how to dispatch the document event manually to activate the validation code. Trying to dispatch focus or mouse events manually haven't been working for me. Thanks for any help!

  • I need HTML help. I am using the FRAMESET tag and its getting complicated.

    - by Jordan
You will need to download a 4Shared file so that I can give you all the information necessary. Problem: I am using the FRAMESET tab and I have links put in the left hand column and when clicked, they only open in that column when I want them to open up the full screen, not with a new tab though. Here is where you can get a word file with all the writing that I put in notepad for my pages. Each Word page is a different Notepad file, and there are pictures on the bottom to help understand. www.4shared.com/get/299858562/2f5cf7dd/2_HTML_help.html THANK YOU!

  • Is there an offline HTML editor for writers? [closed]

    - by Jason Christa
All of our writers and editors use Microsoft Word for document creation and a lot of what they create ends up on the Web. Is there a good offline editor with a flavor similar to Word that they could use to create their documents. Styling of the content should not be a concern, only producing semantic HTML (most documents they create could be done using only header and paragraph tags for instance). They have tried CKEditor and TinyMCE but it is still too foreign for them and it is online so they don't trust it not to lose their work.

  • With HTML and CSS, how to have an image that is vertically aligned with a horizontal line?

    - by sungod000
I'd like the image on the left to be adjacent to the horizontal line on the right (bottoms lining up flush). It should be responsive so that the line can change widths as needed. Right now, the image is sitting on top of the line, not beside it. Here is the HTML <div> <img src="image.png"> <hr> </div> Here is the CSS img { float:left } hr { width:100% } How to make this happen?
