I'm trying to send an int array through Winsocks. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure only a char* is supported so I'm kind of stuck on how to do this properly. There are also problems with little/big edian, so what would be a good way to do this? I've already asked a question of converting int array to char but it was recommended to start a new thread on this in the networking section instead.

I have a PHP array of strings: ie: "Big green car parked outside"..etc
I would like to perform boolean search operations on these strings, similar to MySQL fulltext searching , or Sphinx Searching.
For example, I would like to find all strings containing word "green" but not "car"
Does anyone know of any existing PHP classes or libraries which would help me accomplish this ? Or can anyone suggest any google terms I could search for ?
Thank you in advance!
I have the following situation...

From what I have gathered, I want to force a class to use particular private fields (and methods) I need an abstract class because an interface only declares public/static/final fields and methods. Correct??
I just started my first big java project and want to make sure I'm not going to hurt myself later :)
We have a big portal that needs user registration to allow them use its services. It's already done in .NET and SOL Server 2005. we are in the phase now of discovering all the problems of the current registration system to build a new robust flexible one that can be extended easily and can be more usable for all services.
Could any help me find best practices and design patterns to help me rebuild this using good architectural practices?
I'm deveoping a big project, I have the dev folder (connected to a specific subdomain) then the "real" folder, the live one. When I'm ready to push patches or whole new versions I'm currently copying the files individually, is there a program that can help me do this task?
Keep in mind that some files (the config one and the htacess) must never change in the live version.
Thank you

I've heard that it's possible to mask views with black/white images, where black means fully transparent and white means view is visible. The big difference to clipsToBounds is that the view could be clipped in funny shapes like circles or stars. How could I do that?
I am trying really hard to make a sliding frame containing widgets in tkinter in python. There is this frame inside a big window with different widgets. And as soon as i click on the next button on that frame the frame should slowly slide towards the left and vanish ultimately. As soon as it vanishes, i want new frame with widgets to come sliding towards right.
What should i do?
Anticipating your suggestions and ideas.
Hi all,
A Grails app I'm working on is becoming pretty big, and it would be good to refactor it into several modules, so that we don't have to redeploy the whole thing every time.
In your opinion, what is the best practice to split a Grails app in several modules?
In particular I'd like to create a package of domain classes + relevant services and use it in the app as a module. Is this possible? Is it possible to do it with plugins?
Cheers,

Hi,
i've developed an android app that's fetches an xml file and displays this data via several markers on the map. This works fine so far.
The problem right now is that when i switch the orientation of the phone (portrait-landscape or vice versa) the markers disappear for a small moment, the xml processing is started again and then they reappear.
Is there a way to prevent this re-loading of the file? It only takes about 2-3 seconds..so no big deal, but still disturbing
Regular HTML select boxes (such as, e.g. found here), while being "chosen" are presented by the iPhone on a native widget that seems to totally ignore regular html font sizes and whatnot. It does some ellipsing when it goes too long, but the font is way too big for a list I want to present -- even on landscape, only about 35 characters can fit.
Is there any way to tell the iPhone to use a smaller font there?
When you are designing a JMS application, which use cases make you pick temporary queues over persistent queues?
We use temporary queues for response messages. We're having some issues maintaining connections to the temp queues, though, so I am testing persistent response queues, instead. One clear disadvantage of persistent queues is that your application has to "know" about them beforehand. If that's not a big deal, though, are there use cases where temp queues are the obvious choice?
Is there a simpler way to use uniqueness validation with Django Forms in AppEngine?
I understand that performance would be problem if we keep an uniqueness constraint but since the amount of data being added is very small performance is not a big concern, rather development time is a concern here.
Any help is appreciated.
I have come across a couple of sites in the past where a professional programmer would charge you 50 cents per minute or so to chat with them, one on one, and they would answer any questions you have about your choice of programming language. I've been studying ASP.NET 3.5 for a couple of months now and haven't been able to find a service like this for ASP.NET. Any help? A free live chat room for .NET would be of big help too.
I have an ASP.NET web application for data entry, and we have big lists of radiobuttons, and long lists of checkboxes, in some sections.
The client wants to be able to be able to navigate and manipulate these controls with their keyboard, like the tab/space/enter/right-left-up-down-arrow-keys. Are there any ASP.NET controls that I can use?
We have a product that has been installed with multiple UpgradeCodes in the past. There's a big red box in the documentation saying not to do that, but the developer somehow overlooked it.
I'd like to move this installer to a Setup Project. How can I install over all of the previous UpgradeCodes installed by the various WIX installers?
I'm evaluating report engines for a Java desktop application. I need to print receipts, invoices and reports. I'm looking at Jasper Reports since it seem to be the most popular reporting engine in the Java world. Are there any big drawbacks or disadvantages with using it in a small business system?
In relation to an earlier question I'm looking for an alternative way to send an order from my website to the division in my company that processes the order.
Currently I use PHP mail(), but frequently this gives problems. Big delays occur. Are there alternatives to PHP mail() that pushes the order to my company? So I prefer not to poll the website.
I am developing an Android app, it will connect to the internet to load some data back.
I tested it with WIFI and it works well. But when I switched to use EDGE/GPRS, it always timed out, I have set a big timeout parameter for httpclient, but it did not help.
Anyone have experienced this before?
I want to transfer big files (1GB) over unreliable transport channels. When connection is interrupted, I don't want start file transfering from the begining. I can partially store it in a temp table and store last readed position, so when connection is reestablished I can request continue uploading of file from this position. Is there any best-practice for such kind of things. I'm currently use chunking channel.
