• Preset value of HTML Forms

- by laura
Hi. I'm trying to preset the value of a dropdown menu and the value of a text box in an HTML form. As soon as the user taps the button in my iPhone app, it enters the webview and I was hoping to preset one of the dropdown menus and text field. How do I go about this? I want to set the dropdown to value "4" and the text field to "Giro Apps" Here's the relevant HTML form code: Select Google Facebook Friend Referral Other

Please give details here:

TIA!

• My 3D object (opengl es) is disappearing behind the iPhone camera view

- by KLC
I have an augmented reality iPhone app that I am converting from Core Animation to OpenGL ES 1.1. I have added code that has been modified from the Apple OpenGL template. My problem is that my 3D object , when translating along the negative Z-axis (away from the user), appears to disappear into the camera view, until its completely gone. I have experimented with several solutions, but to no avail. What I have determined: Using the 3D icosahedron from Jeff Lamarche's blog here, the object starts it at 0,0,0 and then translates with decreasing z coordinates. By the time the z value reaches -2.0f, the object is gone. It appears as if it is disappearing behind the camera view. This is how I set my frustrum & viewport (unchanged from Apple's code) glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); size = zNear * tanf(DEGREES_TO_RADIANS(fieldOfView) / 2.0); //Grab the size of the screen CGRect rect = self.bounds; glFrustumf(-size, size, -size / (rect.size.width / rect.size.height), size / (rect.size.width / rect.size.height), zNear, zFar); glViewport(0, 0, rect.size.width, rect.size.height); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); What I have tried: The camera view is the main view and several other views are added to it as subviews, including the openGLView. I have commented those views out for test purposes. I have applied CATransforms to move the openGLView in the z direction -500 and +500, and done the same to the camera view. I have also changed the zFar in the above code to 1.0f, and it still disappears at z position of -2.0, which doesn't make sense (shouldn't it disappear at z=1.0?) My experimentation has got me more confused than when I started ( which usually means I am missing a key piece, but I can't figure out what). Thanks for your help.

• Android 1.5/1.6 issue with style and autogenerated R.java file

- by Gaks
I'm having strange issue with R.java file and styles defined in my resources. Here's some code: In res/values/strings.xml: In AndroidManifest.xml: <activity android:name=".RegisterScreen" android:icon="@drawable/ico" android:label="@string/applicationName" android:theme="@style/PopupWindowStyle" android:configChanges="locale|touchscreen|keyboard|keyboardHidden|navigation|orientation|fontScale"> </activity> In autogenerated gen/.../R.java: public static final class style { public static final int PopupWindowStyle=0x7f090000; } After some changes in the project, eclipse changed autogenerated value for PopupWindowStyle from 0x7f080000 to 0x7f090000. After that, on Android 1.5, RegisterScreen activity is displayed without PopupWindowStyle style - there is an error displayed in logcat: Skipping entry 0x7f090000 in package table 0 because it is not complex! On Android 1.6 however everything works fine - PopupWindowStyle works like it was before it's integer value has changed. I was testing this issue, by reverting the source code to older revisions. I can confirm, that this problem started occurring after src code commit, which changed two files completely unrelated to this part of code - and an autogenerated R.java file. Any idea what could cause that?

• iPhone: error: request for member 'table' in something not a structure or union

- by Jack Griffiths
Hi there, When it comes to compiling my application, I get the error mentioned in the title. How would I go about remedying this error? Basically, I want to get from one table to the other. Hierarchy, navigation. NextViewController.m #import "RootViewController.h" #import "NextViewController.h" @implementation NextViewController - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview // Release anything that's not essential, such as cached data } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } - (IBAction) changeTable:(NSString *)str{ tblCSS.table = str; } The last line contains the error. If you need any more code, just ask. I'll amend this post with it. Cheers, Jack

• How do I reliably get the size of my iPhone view taking rotations into consideration?

- by Sebastian Celis
My application uses a UITabBarController, multiple UINavigationControllers, and supports autorotation. In order to properly layout the subviews within each UIViewController's main view, I really need to know the size available to the UIViewContoller. I need this size to take the UINavigationBar, the UITabBar, and the status bar all into account, and thus only return the size available to the content view. I thought for sure I could use the following from within the UIViewController's code: CGRect viewControllerBounds = [[self view] bounds]; However, there are a couple of issues with this approach: The first time the view is loaded, viewControllerBounds reports the view as being 320 pixels wide by 460 pixels tall. This is wrong. With a status bar and a navigation bar showing, the height should only be 416 pixels. However, if I rotate the simulator to landscape and then rotate back, the height of viewControllerBounds changes to 416. If I rotate the first view in the navigation controller to landscape mode and then push another view controller onto the stack, viewControllerBounds for the new view reports a width of 300 pixels and a height of 480 pixels. So the view's bounds didn't even take the rotation into account. Is there a better way to do this? I really don't want to have to start hardcoding the widths and heights of all the various UI elements the iPhone OS provides. I have tried setting the autoresizing mask of the UIViewController's view, but that doesn't seem to change anything. The views definitely seem to be displaying properly. When I set a background color that view looks like it takes up all of the space available to it. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

• Objective-C: Loop through NSDictionary to create seperate NSArray's

- by Nic Hubbard
I have a large NSDictionary structure that I need to loop through and create seperate NSArray's. Here is the structure: ( { id = { text = ""; }; sub = { text = " , "; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = ""; }; title = { text = "2010-2011"; }; type = { text = "title"; }; }, { id = { text = "76773"; }; sub = { text = "December 13, 2010"; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = "http://www.puc.edu/__data/assets/image/0004/76774/varieties/thumb.jpg"; }; title = { text = "College Days - Fall 2010"; }; type = { text = "gallery"; }; }, { id = { text = ""; }; sub = { text = ""; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = ""; }; title = { text = "2009-2010"; }; type = { text = "title"; }; }, { id = { text = "76302"; }; sub = { text = "December 3, 2010"; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = "http://www.puc.edu/__data/assets/image/0019/76303/varieties/thumb.jpg"; }; title = { text = "Christmas Colloquy"; }; type = { text = "gallery"; }; } ) Each section has a type key, which I need to check. When it finds the "title" key, I need to add those to an array. Then the next sections that would use the "gallery" key needs to be in its own array until it finds another "title" key. Then the "gallery" keys after that into their own array. I am using this a UITableView section titles and content. So, the NSDictionary above should have one NSArray *titles; array, and two other arrays each containing the galleries that came after the title. I have tried using a for loop but I just can't seem to get it right. And ideas would be appreciated.

• UIWebView selection

- by Infinity
Hello guys! I subclassed the UIWindow to get the clicks from UIWebView. I used a tutorial for this. Here is the link: Tutorial It is working, but after I've got and other tutorial from the writer where he shows how to highlight the text in UIWebView. Here's the second link. But I can't use this second one. I tried to run this code in the - (void)userDidTapWebView:(id)tapPoint; delegate method. This delegate method is called when I tap in the UIWebView. Maybe somebody can help me to correct the script? I would like to get the tapped anchor's link. I tried many different java script, but until now I couldn't get the tapped anchor's link. One of the tries is when I tried to add a function to document.onClick. But I tap an anchor then it needs a second tap to get the anchor and I can't get the link neither with this method.

• Calling method on category included from iPhone static library causes NSInvalidArgumentException

- by Corey Floyd
I have created a static library to house some of my code like categories. I have a category for UIViews in "UIView-Extensions.h" named Extensions. In this category I have a method called: - (void)fadeOutWithDelay:(CGFloat)delay duration:(CGFloat)duration; Calling this method works fine on the simulator on Debug configuration. However, if try to run the app on the device I get a NSInvalidArgumentException: [UIView fadeOutWithDelay:duration:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1912b0 *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIView fadeOutWithDelay:duration:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1912b0 It seems for some reason UIView-Extensions.h is not being included in the device builds. What I have checked/tried I did try to include another category for NSString, and had the same issue. Other files, like whole classes and functions work fine. It is an issue that only happens with categories. I did a clean all targets, which did not fix the problem. I checked the static library project, the categories are included in the target's "copy headers" and "compile sources" groups. The static library is included in the main projects "link binary with library" group. Another project I have added the static library to works just fine. I deleted and re-added the static library with no luck -ObjC linker flag is set Any ideas? nm output libFJSCodeDebug.a(UIView-Extensions.o): 000004d4 t -[UIView(Extensions) changeColor:withDelay:duration:] 00000000 t -[UIView(Extensions) fadeInWithDelay:duration:] 000000dc t -[UIView(Extensions) fadeOutWithDelay:duration:] 00000abc t -[UIView(Extensions) firstResponder] 000006b0 t -[UIView(Extensions) hasSubviewOfClass:] 00000870 t -[UIView(Extensions) hasSubviewOfClass:thatContainsPoint:] 000005cc t -[UIView(Extensions) rotate:] 000002d8 t -[UIView(Extensions) shrinkToSize:withDelay:duration:] 000001b8 t -[UIView(Extensions) translateToFrame:delay:duration:] U _CGAffineTransformRotate 000004a8 t _CGPointMake U _CGRectContainsPoint U _NSLog U _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIColor U _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIView U ___CFConstantStringClassReference U ___addsf3vfp U ___divdf3vfp U ___divsf3vfp U ___extendsfdf2vfp U ___muldf3vfp U ___truncdfsf2vfp U _objc_enumerationMutation U _objc_msgSend U _objc_msgSend_stret U dyld_stub_binding_helper

• Camera pics not appearing in Gallery app

- by Travis
When I take pictures using android.hardware.camera and I save them to the following location /sdcard/dcim/camera/ they don't appear when I launch the gallery. Is there a process for getting them to show up in the gallery that I missed? I can see my images using a file explorer and know they have been saved.

• Why dont Android applications provide an "Exit" option?

- by Howiecamp
Is there something in the Android developer guidelines that disuadea developers from providing the option to "exit" (stop running) an application from within the application itself? I love multitasking and all but it's not clear to me why: the vast majority of apps don't have their own Exit functions and hence just keep running forever don't give you a choice about running when you turn on the phone - they just do by default Both of these things lead to memory usage constantly increasing and your device running with this performance burden all of the time despite the fact that you may only want certain apps to run some of the time. Am I missing something?

• How can I create a button with a UIActivityIndicator in my navigation bar with the same style as nor

- by Jarin Udom
All of the examples I've seen on here and other sites involved creating a UIActivityIndicatorView and loading it with something like: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:myActivityIndicatorView target:nil action:nil] autorelease]; However, that just creates a plain activity indicator in the navigation bar. What I want to do is have a button that looks just like the normal UIBarButtonSystemItem buttons but with an activity indicator instead of one of the default images. I've tried doing initWithImage and initWithTitle with nil images or titles and then adding the activity indicator as a subview, but that doesn't work. Any ideas?

• iPhone: Turning latitude/longitude into "major cross-streets"

- by Gloria
Using the MKReverseGeocoder or GoogleAPI or MapKit... Is there a simple way to turn a latitude/longitude into "nearest major cross-streets"? A user might not have any idea where "12345 Pineapple" is located... so I want to show something like "Pineapple and Main"... or (larger, major roads) like "US-140 and Hwy 76". I don't really care what "major" is defined as... perhaps any road with higher speed limits... or more than 3 lanes... etc. I don't really care what "close by" is defines as... perhaps within 0-10 miles... or just "closest found".

• UIWebview does not show up into UINavigationController

- by Pato
Hi I have a tabBar application. In the first tab, I have a navigation bar. In this navigation bar I have a table view. When the user clicks a cell of the table, it goes to another table view, and when the user clicks a cell in that table, it goes to a webview to open a web page. Basically, it goes fine until opening the webview. In the webview, viewDidLoad is called and seems to work properly. However, webViewDidStartLoad is never called and the web page never shows up. I am not using IB. I build the UITabBarController in the AppDelegate, where I also assign an instance of my UINavigationController for each tab. I call the webview from the second UITableViewController as follows: rssWebViewController = [[webViews objectAtIndex: indexPath.row] objectForKey:@"controller"]; [[self navigationController] pushViewController:rssWebViewController animated:YES]; I have checked that the navigationController is there and it seems just fine. The viewDidload of my webview is as follows: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *urlAddress = self.storyUrl; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlAddress]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [[self rssWebView] setDelegate: self]; [[self view] addSubview:[self rssWebView]]; [rssWebView loadRequest:requestObj]; self.rssWebView.scalesPageToFit = YES; self.rssWebView.autoresizingMask = (UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight); } The web view controller interface is defined as follows: @interface RSSWebViewController : UIViewController <UIWebViewDelegate>{ IBOutlet UIWebView *rssWebView; IBOutlet NSString *storyUrl; IBOutlet NSString *feedName; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *rssWebView; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet NSString *storyUrl; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet NSString *feedName; @end Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Who should call viewDidLoad on progammatically loaded views?

- by Remus Rusanu
When I need to load a view programatically I do the following: MyController* myController = [[MyController alloc] init]; [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"myNib" owner:myController options:nil]; // use my controller here, eg. push it in the nav controller This works fine, but my controller's viewDidLoad is never called. So I resorted to manually calling it after the loadNibNamed call, but it doesn't seem correct. I was expecting the framework to call the viewDidLoad on my behalf. Is this the right way or I'm missing something?
