HI=i,
I need advice on how i should go about improving my c # skills. I want to improve my skills in general c#,ADO,linq and windows form applications.
Hi
What are the possible ways of representing data in memory in .Net (or in general)?
It would be great if data could be sorted and looked up by key (or multiple keys).
We are thinking to use collections, arrays, list of collections/arrays. One object would be in several collections (one sorted asc, other desc, etc.).
Maybe this is not a good idea, and we would like to hear some other possible solutions.
Thank you
I was wondering if there are any 3rd party controls for use with the iPhone that are available, even better if usable from Interface Builder. From what I can gather, the answer is no.
I come from a Microsoft .NET background where of course there are tons of controls available from 3rd parties. I'm curious if this is a general Mac development ecosystem fact, i.e. no 3rd party controls for sale, or just an iPhone one, or if I've just missed finding them.
I have a vector for example
a = [0 1 0 3]
I want to turn a into b which equals b = [1 3]
How do I perform this in general? So I have a vector with some zero components and I want to remove the zeroes and leave just the non-zero numbers.
Sorry I am new to Matlab
I'm doing a code review and I noticed such a code:
@Entity
@Table(name = "SOME_TABLE")
public class SomeReportClass {
@Column(name = "REPORT_NUMBER", length = 6, nullable = false)
private String reportNumber;
.....
public String getReportNumber() {
return reportNumber;
}
public void setReportNumber(String reportNumber) {
this.reportNumber = StringUtils.trimToNull(reportNumber);
}
}
Every time I see trimming inside of a setter I feel that its not the clearest solution - what is the general practice with that issue?
It says:
In general,make searches for an
implicit rule for each target[1], and for
each double-colon rule[2], that has no
commands[3].
This can have two different understanding:
1 or (2 and 3)
(1 or 2) and 3
Which does it mean?
Does executing javascript within a browser in 'strict mode' make it more performant, in general? Do any of the major browsers do additional optimisation or use any other techniques that will improve performance in strict mode?
Edit: Since none of the major engines actually implement strict mode, I'll rephrase slightly: Is strict mode intended, amongst its other goals, to allow browsers to introduce additional optimisations or other performance enhancements?
How are files downloaded from servers in programming languages like C? I understand higher level languages have magic functions like "download_file_from_url()" but they don't help me understand what is actually going on. I'm a little familiar with sockets but network programming in general is still a black box to me. Thanks for any help.
I want a portable C++ IDE for general development, and too to develop basic Windows GUI applications.
In my research, I've found this (with latest version date):
CodeLite IDE (2010-04-02)
Code::Blocks (2008-02-28)
Bloodshed Dev-C++ (2005-02-22)
NetBeans (2009-12-10)
Ultimate++ (2010-03-16)
Qt Creator (2010-02-01)
But I don't know if some these IDE's supports Windows GUI development (or Cross Platform GUI development) or if can be Portable (NetBeans can be portable).
I am new to PHP and would like to learn. I am limited to running on Windows and need advice on getting setup. Which IDE should I use? Are there any development servers similar to the one included in Visual Studio? What other general advice do you have?
What can be Questions and Answers for Interview on job position for objects recognition and Computer vision?
Please only Qs with links to As.
Please keep being on topic (no general Qs).
I want to perform a 'SELECT' statement with a byte array (binary) parameter as a condition.
I tried to google it, but didn't find anything useful.
In general, I keep information of files in the database. one of the properties is the file's hash (binary).
I want to give a hash to the SELECT statement, and get all rows with the same hash value.
I've been searching examples for the Win32 API C++ function TerminateProcess() but couldn't find any.
I'm not that familiar with the Win32 API in general and so I wanted to ask if someone here who is better in it than me could show me an example for,
Retrieving a process handle by its PID required to terminate it and then call TerminateProcess with it.
If you aren't familiar with C++ a C# equivalent would help too.
I'm sending an ajax request that will either give me an error or a userID
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<error>1000</error>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<userID>8</userID>
how can I find out if the root element is error or userID using jquery or just javascript in general. Using the find method doesn't appear to work if what you're trying to access is the root element
What is document data store? What is key-value data store?
Please, describe in very simple and general words the mechanisms which stand behind each of them.
Windows and OS X have always bumped heads on this, but what is the general concensus on whether a Save button or Cancel button goes first in a web application?
[Save] [Cancel]
or
[Cancel] [Save]
Note: I have these buttons at the top of the form flush to the right.
Hello,
this is a general question but I do a desktop application.
Should I check for example the firstname exceeding 50 chars or is this a matter of taste?
Or should I check for 50 chars because the user could flood my database with 10000000 chars ?
I've had a big problem in some library code, which I've pinned down to a single statement:
System.out.println((String) null);
Ok, the code doesn't actually look like that, but it certainly calls println with a null argument. Doing this causes my whole applicaio to throw an unexpected NullPointerException.
In general, should println throw this exception under that circumstance, or is this non-standard behavior due to a poor implementation of the out instance?
How would I print the multiples of a list of given numbers in a merged, sorted list?
I.e.
take 10 (multiples [4,5])
gives
4,5,8,10,12,15,16,20,24,25
I've got it working for lists of size 2 or 1 but I need a more general solution :)
This isn't a platform specific question - rather I'm interested in the general platform independent areas of computer science that are particularly relevant to mobile applications development.
For example, things like compression techniques, distributed synchronisation algorithims etc.. what theoretical concepts have you found relevant, useful or enabling when building mobile apps?
On Unix, is there any way that one process can change another's environment variables (assuming they're all being run by the same user)? A general solution would be best, but if not, what about the specific case where one is a child of the other?
Edit: How about via gdb?
Here's the objective. I have a PHP class and there are one or two of its methods that I would like to override with my own. As I understand OOP (in PHP and in general) I could write a child class that extends it and overrides the functionality of the methods in question.
However, I was wondering if this is the best way of achieving this task and if this is a proper use for child classes or if there is something better in PHP for what I'm trying to do.

Hi,
I would like to hear your opinions on areas of computer science & engineering that show some real promise of technological breakthroughs in foreseeable future (eg: general AI?). I would like to explore some fresh ideas in computer science that is hard to capture in school.
Many Windows apps (like Skype or MSN for instance) don't let you start multiple instances, rather trying to run it a 2nd time just leaves the existing version running.
Is this typically done in some simple way - the start-menu shortcut is a 'wrapper' app around the main app - or is there some registry magic you can do to delegate the problem to Windows itself?
Specifically dealing with Win32 here (unmanaged C++) but happy to hear more general solutions as long as they are workable on Windows XP or alter.
