  • Default for generic type?

    - by Mark
    Is it possible to do something like public class PriorityQueue<TValue, TPriority=int> where TPriority : IComparable (note the =int) ? Before you suggest it, yes, I know I can just add another line: public class PriorityQueue<TValue> : PriorityQueue<TValue, int> { } But I'm wondering if it's possible to do it as a param.

  • iPhone internationalization: falling back to a default language

    - by MihaiD
    Consider the following situation: We have two Localizable.string files, one in en.lproj and one in it.lproj When the user switches to English or Italian, the proper localized string is loaded using NSLocalizedString(@"keyword", nil) If one of the files is missing the keyword, the string is not retrieved Is there any way to make this macro load the string from a specific language if it's keyword is not found in the current locale's Localizable.string?

  • Change workarea size of Linux desktop

    - by nonoitall
    I'm trying to write a taskbar/panel for Linux (like fbpanel or pypanel) using GTK# and am a little hung up. I've created a Gtk.Window to act as the panel and positioned/resized it appropriately. I've also set its WindowTypeHint to Dock so that it remains on top of other windows. So far it 'looks' like a panel. However, if the panel is running and I maximize another window, that window fills the whole desktop - meaning the bottom portion of the window is covered up by my panel. I've gathered that I probably need to change the desktop's workarea. How can I go about doing this in C#? (Preferably using GTK#, but I don't mind using interop if it's necessary.) As a bit of a side point, I'm curious if anyone knows how I would go about 'informing' the window manager about where applications' taskbar buttons are. (For example, if the window manager wants to animate the minimize action so that the window shrinks down to its button on the taskbar, how do I let the window manager know where that button is on the taskbar?)

  • Suggestion on Database structure for relational data

    - by miccet
    Hi there. I've been wrestling with this problem for quite a while now and the automatic mails with 'Slow Query' warnings are still popping in. Basically, I have Blogs with a corresponding table as well as a table that keeps track of how many times each Blog has been viewed. This last table has a huge amount of records since this page is relatively high traffic and it logs every hit as an individual row. I have tried with indexes on the fields that are included in the WHERE clause, but it doesn't seem to help. I have also tried to clean the table each week by removing old ( 1.weeks) records. SO, I'm asking you guys, how would you solve this? The query that I know is causing the slowness is generated by Rails and looks like this: SELECT count(*) AS count_all FROM blog_views WHERE (created_at >= '2010-01-01 00:00:01' AND blog_id = 1); The tables have the following structures: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS 'blogs' ( 'id' int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, 'name' varchar(255) default NULL, 'perma_name' varchar(255) default NULL, 'author_id' int(11) default NULL, 'created_at' datetime default NULL, 'updated_at' datetime default NULL, 'blog_picture_id' int(11) default NULL, 'blog_picture2_id' int(11) default NULL, 'page_id' int(11) default NULL, 'blog_picture3_id' int(11) default NULL, 'active' tinyint(1) default '1', PRIMARY KEY ('id'), KEY 'index_blogs_on_author_id' ('author_id') ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; And CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS 'blog_views' ( 'id' int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, 'blog_id' int(11) default NULL, 'ip' varchar(255) default NULL, 'created_at' datetime default NULL, 'updated_at' datetime default NULL, PRIMARY KEY ('id'), KEY 'index_blog_views_on_blog_id' ('blog_id'), KEY 'created_at' ('created_at') ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ;

  • Detecting file upload size on the client side?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
    I'm using PHP for file uploads. In the PHP manual it shows an example using a MAX_FILE_SIZE hidden field, saying that it will detect on the client side (i.e. the browser) whether the file is too large or not. I've just tried the example in Firefox, Chrome and IE and it doesn't work. The file is always uploaded, even if it is way larger than the specified hidden field. Incidentally, if the file is larger than MAX_FILE_SIZE then calling move_uploaded_file doesn't work, so it seems the variable is having an effect server-side, but not client-side.

  • What font and size is used in Windows 7 File Explorer Tree

    - by Stefan Koell
    I am having a hard time to find out which font is used by the Win 7 File Explorer in the tree view on the left hand side. Better, of course, would be if I can programmatically find out which the right font is (C#). I searched the Windows 7 design guidelines but this particular scenario is not listed (at least I couldn't find it). So anyone good with fonts?

  • Does thread pool size keep growing for scheduledthreadpoolexecutor?

    - by Sourajit Basak
    Imagine a situation where tasks are being added to scheduledthreadpoolexecutor. Each of these tasks will keep on running at different periodic intervals. Although all such tasks will not be running at the same time because each is set at different intervals, there may be a situation where a high number of threads are competing for execution. Is there any restriction on total number of threads ? It seems there is a restriction on the total number of idle threads. And does this concept of idle thread imply that long running tasks (thread) may be destroyed and recreated when needed ?

  • C# Creating thumbnail (low quality and big size problem)

    - by ile
    public void CreateThumbnail(Image img1, Photo photo, string targetDirectoryThumbs) { int newWidth = 700; int newHeight = 700; double ratio = 0; if (img1.Width > img1.Height) { ratio = img1.Width / (double)img1.Height; newHeight = (int)(newHeight / ratio); } else { ratio = img1.Height / (double)img1.Width; newWidth = (int)(newWidth / ratio); } Image bmp1 = img1.GetThumbnailImage(newWidth, newHeight, null, IntPtr.Zero); bmp1.Save(targetDirectoryThumbs + photo.PhotoID + ".jpg"); img1.Dispose(); bmp1.Dispose(); } I've put 700px so that you can have better insight of the problem. Here is original image and resized one. Any good recommendation? Thanks, Ile

  • Undefined / Uninitialized default values in a class

    - by Jir
    Let's suppose you have this class: class A { public: A () {} A (double val) : m_val(val) {} ~A () {} private: double m_val; }; Once I create an instance of A, how can I check if m_val has been initialized/defined? Put it in other words, is there a way to know if m_val has been initialized/defined or not? Something along the lines of the defined operator in Python, I suppose. (But correct me if I'm wrong.) I thought of modifying the class and the c-tors the following way: class A { public: A () : defined(false) {} A (double val) : m_val(val), defined(true) {} ~A () {} private: double m_val; bool defined; }; How do you rate this solution? Any suggestion? TIA, Chris

  • java setting resolution and print size for an Image

    - by Ingrid
    I wrote a program that generates a BufferedImage to be displayed on the screen and then printed. Part of the image includes grid lines that are 1 pixel wide. That is, the line is 1 pixel, with about 10 pixels between lines. Because of screen resolution, the image is displayed much bigger than that, with several pixels for each line. I'd like to draw it smaller, but when I scale the image (either by using Image.getScaledInstance or Graphics2D.scale), I lose significant amounts of detail. I'd like to print the image as well, and am dealing with the same problem. In that case, I am using this code to set the resolution: HashPrintRequestAttributeSet set = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet(); PrinterResolution pr = new PrinterResolution(250, 250, ResolutionSyntax.DPI); set.add(pr); job.print(set); which works to make the image smaller without losing detail. But the problem is that the image is cut off at the same boundary as if I hadn't set the resolution. I'm also confused because I expected a larger number of DPI to make a smaller image, but it's working the other way. I'm using java 1.6 on Windows 7 with eclipse.

DirectoryEntry myDE = new System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry(strpath); object obGroups = myDE.Invoke("Groups"); foreach (object ob in (IEnumerable)obGroups) { DirectoryEntry obGpEntry = new DirectoryEntry(ob); GroupsListBox.Items.Add(obGpEntry.Name ); }

  • css, fixed size

    - by gloris
    Hi, I need three tables (div). The left and right sides of the occupied 50% of the free window. The center is fixed. Everything seems fine, but right down to jump off the table. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body{ margin:0; padding:0; } #left{ float: left; width: 50%; background: #FDA02E; margin-left: -300px; } #center{ float: left; width: 600px; margin-right: 300px; background: #C8FF98; } #right{ float: left; width: 50%; margin-left: -300px; background: #FDE95E; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="pag"> <div id="left"> Left </div> <div id="center"> Center </div> <div id="right"> Right </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Selecting size of vector of vectors

    - by xbonez
    I have a class called Grid that declares a vector of vectors like this: typedef vector<int> row; typedef vector<row> myMatrix; myMatrix sudoku_; The constructor looks like this: grid::grid() : sudoku_(9,9) { } As you can see, the constructor is initializing it to be a 9x9 grid. How can I make it work so that the user is asked for a number, say n, and the grid is initialized n x n ?

  • Java GC: top object classes promoted (by size)?

    - by Java Geek
    Hello! Please let me know what is the best way to determine composition of young generation memory promoted to old generation, after each young GC event? Ideally I would like to know class names which are responsible say, for 80% of heap in each "young gen - old gen" promotion chunk; Example: I have 600M young gen, each tenure promotes 6M; I want to know which objects compose this 6M. Thank you.

  • matlab: simple matrix filtering - group size

    - by Art
    I have a huuuge matrix storing information about X and Y coordinates of multiple particle trajectories , which in simplified version looks like that: col 1- track number; col 2- frame number; col 2- coordinate X; col 3- coordinate Y for example: A = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 2.02928 18.47536 2 2 2.064 18.5464 3 1 8.19648 5.31056 3 2 8.04848 5.33568 3 3 7.82016 5.29088 3 4 7.80464 5.31632 3 5 7.68256 5.4624 3 6 7.62592 5.572 Now I want to filter out trajectories shorter than lets say 2 and keep remaining stuff like (note renumbering of trajectories): B = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 8.19648 5.31056 2 2 8.04848 5.33568 2 3 7.82016 5.29088 2 4 7.80464 5.31632 2 5 7.68256 5.4624 2 6 7.62592 5.572 How to do it efficiently? I can think about some ideas using for loop and vertcat, but its the slowest solution ever :/ Thanks!
