  • Is there a C# equivalent of typeof for properties/methods/members?

    - by David
    A classes Type metadata can be obtained in several ways. Two of them are: var typeInfo = Type.GetType("MyClass") and var typeInfo = typeof(MyClass) The advantage of the second way is that typos will be caught by the compiler, and the IDE can understand what I'm talking about (allowing features like refactoring to work without silently breaking the code) Does there exist an equivalent way of strongly referencing members/properties/methods for metadata and reflection? Can I replace: var propertyInfo = typeof(MyClass).GetProperty("MyProperty") with something like: var propertyInfo = property(MyClass.MyProperty)

  • "Share on LinkedIn" widget chokes on encoded spaces in url param

    - by David Droddy
    Does anyone know why I am not able to include my own, URL encoded URL params with URL encoded spaces? See the URL on my jsBin page constructed from LinkedIn's example--I have added (%3FnestedParam%3Done%20space) at the end of the "URL" value. THEN, if you remove the encoded space (%3FnestedParam%3DoneSpace) it works fine: Try it out: http://jsbin.com/acosa3/3 Thanks!

  • mysql select where count = 0

    - by david parloir
    Hi, In my db, I have a "sales" table and a "sales_item". Sometimes, something goes wrong and the sale is recorded but not the sales item's. So I'm trying to get the salesID from my table "sales" that haven't got any rows in the sales_item table. Here's the mysql query I thought would work, but it doesn't: SELECT s.* FROM sales s NATURAL JOIN sales_item si WHERE s.date like '" . ((isset($_GET['date'])) ? $_GET['date'] : date("Y-m-d")) . "%' AND v.sales_id like '" . ((isset($_GET['shop'])) ? $_GET['shop'] : substr($_COOKIE['shop'], 0, 3)) ."%' HAVING count(si.sales_item_id) = 0; Any thoughts?

  • Java - StackOverflow Error on recursive 2D boolean array method that shouldn't happen.

    - by David W.
    Hey everyone, I'm working on a runnable java applet that has a fill feature much like the fill method in drawing programs such as Microsoft Paint. This is how my filling method works: 1.) The applet gets the color that the user clicked on using .getRGB 2.) The applet creates a 2D boolean array of all the pixels in the window, with the value "true" if that pixel is the same color as the color clicked on or "false" if not. The point of this step is to keep the .getRGB method out of the recursive method to hopefully prevent this error. 3.) The applet recursively searches the 2D array of booleans where the user clicked, recording each adjacent point that is "true" in an ArrayList. The method then changes each point it records to false and continues. 4.) The applet paints every point stored in the ArrayList to a user selected color. All of the above steps work PERFECTLY if the user clicks within a small area, where only a few thousand pixels or so have their color changed. If the user selects a large area however (such as about 360,000 / the size of the applet window), the applet gets to the recursive stage and then outputs this error: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.lang.StackOverflowError at java.util.ArrayList.add(ArrayList.java:351) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:185) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) (continues for a few pages) Here is my recursive code: public void recursiveSearch(boolean [][] list, Point p){ if(isValid(p)){ if(list[(int)p.y][(int)p.x]){ fillPoints.add(p); list[(int)p.y][(int)p.x] = false; recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x-1,p.y));//Checks to the left recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x,p.y-1));//Checks above recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x+1,p.y));//Checks to the right recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x,p.y+1));//Checks below } } } Is there any way I can work around an error like this? I know that the loop will never go on forever, it just could take a lot of time. Thanks in advance.

  • C++ game loop example

    - by David
    Can someone write up a source for a program that just has a "game loop", which just keeps looping until you press Esc, and the program shows a basic image. Heres the source I have right now but I have to use SDL_Delay(2000); to keep the program alive for 2 seconds, during which the program is frozen. #include "SDL.h" int main(int argc, char* args[]) { SDL_Surface* hello = NULL; SDL_Surface* screen = NULL; SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING); screen = SDL_SetVideoMode(640, 480, 32, SDL_SWSURFACE); hello = SDL_LoadBMP("hello.bmp"); SDL_BlitSurface(hello, NULL, screen, NULL); SDL_Flip(screen); SDL_Delay(2000); SDL_FreeSurface(hello); SDL_Quit(); return 0; } I just want the program to be open until I press Esc. I know how the loop works, I just don't know if I implement inside the main() function, or outside of it. I've tried both, and both times it failed. If you could help me out that would be great :P

  • Which CSS identifier is used for the selected tab in tabbed tables in browsers other than IE?

    - by David Navarre
    When you have a table on a form in Notes, you can choose to display only one row at a time (via the Special Table Row Display parameter on the Table Rows tab of the Table properties). In a Notes document displayed using Internet Explorer that contains such a table, a row is displayed with a cell for each "tab". The TD that serves as the tab for the selected "Notes table row" is assigned <td class="dominoSelTopTab">, while the other tabs get <td class="dominoTopTab">. However, when using other browsers, it's not nearly as simple. In Firefox, each "tab" ends up as a single-celled-single-row-table within the table with very little to identify it. <td><table border="1" cellpadding="2"> <tr><td><div align="center"><b>Tab 2</b></div></td></tr> </table></td> A non-selected tab would show as follows: <td><table border="1" cellpadding="2"> <tr><td><div align="center"><a name="1." href="/Projects/MyCSS.nsf/0c3b9489476440c085257a62006d97d6/d482a1767a4af77f85257a62006db064?OpenDocument&amp;TableRow=1.0#1." target="_self">Tab 1</a></div></td></tr> </table></td> So, the question is, how do I identify the selected tabs and the non-selected tabs when not using IE? Note: For those who are not Notes developers, the HTML is auto-generated from the visual design as laid out in the Notes designer client. I would replace it all with manual HTML, except there is so much of it that doing so would consume far too much time.

  • Sending an int from Java to C using sockets

    - by David Morris
    I was just wondering how to send an int from a Java application to a C application using sockets. I have got different C programs communicating with each other and have got the Java application retrieving data from the C application, but I can't work out sending. The C application is acting as database, the Java application then sends a user id (a 4 digit number) to the C application, if it exists it returns that record's details. In Java I have tried using a printWriter and DataOutputStream to send the data, printWriter produces weird symbols and DataOutputStream produces "prof_agent.so". Any help would be appreciated as I don't have a good grasp of sockets at the moment.

    Hi guys i have a table with shifts history along with emp ids im using this code to retrieve a list of employees and their total shifts by specifying the range to count from: SELECT ope_id, count(ope_id) FROM operator_shift WHERE ope_shift_date >=to_date( '01-MAR-10','dd-mon-yy') and ope_shift_date <= to_date('31-MAR-10','dd-mon-yy') GROUP BY OPE_ID which gives OPE_ID COUNT(OPE_ID) 1 14 2 7 3 6 4 6 5 2 6 5 7 2 8 1 9 2 10 4 10 rows selected. NOW how do i choose the employee with the highest no of shifts under the specified range date, please this is really important

  • @Unique doesn't have any effect in DataNucleus w/ NeoDatis

    - by David Parks
    Using JDO / DataNucleus / NeoDatis datastore I added @Unique to a field of a persistable object, however I am allowed to create multiple objects which violate the unique constraint. The docs for DataNucleus/NeoDatis suggest that Unique fields are supported. @PersistenceCapable public class User { @Persistent @Unique private String username; //... } If I add multiple objects to the DB with the same username there's no problem doing so. :(

  • How to reset keyboard for an entry field?

    - by David.Chu.ca
    I am using tag field as a flag for text fields text view fields for auto-jumping to the next field: - (BOOL)findNextEntryFieldAsResponder:(UIControl *)field { BOOL retVal = NO; for (UIView* aView in mEntryFields) { if (aView.tag == (field.tag + 1)) { [aView becomeFirstResponder]; retVal = YES; break; } } return retVal; } It works fine in terms of auto-jumping to the next field when Next key is pressed. However, my case is that the keyboards are different some fields. For example, one fields is numeric & punctuation, and the next one is default (alphabetic keys). For the numeric & punctuation keyboard is OK, but the next field will stay as the same layout. It requires user to press 123 to go back ABC keyboard. I am not sure if there is any way to reset the keyboard for a field as its keyboard defined in xib? Not sure if there is any APIs available? I guess I have to do something is the following delegate? -(void)textFieldDidBegingEditing:(UITextField*) textField { // reset to the keyboard to request specific keyboard view? .... } OK. I found a solution close to my case by slatvik: -(void) textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField*) textField { textField.keyboardType = UIKeybardTypeAlphabet; } However, in the case of the previous text fields is numeric, the keyboard stays numeric when auto-jumped to the next field. Is there any way to set keyboard to alphabet mode?

  • C++ string array from ifstream

    I have a program that I need to read in an array of strings from a file. The array must be C type strings (char * or char[]). Using the following code, I get a bad access error: for (i = 0; i < MAX_WORDS && !inputFile.eof(); i++) { inputFile >> words[i]; } words is declared as: char *words[MAX_WORDS];

  • The best way to predict performance without actually porting the code?

    - by ardiyu07
    I believe there are people with the same experience with me, where he/she must give a (estimated) performance report of porting a program from sequential to parallel with some designated multicore hardwares, with a very few amount of time given. For instance, if a 10K LoC sequential program was given and executes on Intel i7-3770k (not vectorized) in 100 ms, how long would it take to run if one parallelizes the code to a Tesla C2075 with NVIDIA CUDA, given that all kinds of parallelizing optimization techniques were done? (but you're only given 2-4 days to report the performance? assume that you didn't know the algorithm at all. Or perhaps it'd be safer if we just assume that it's an impossible situation to finish the job) Therefore, I'm wondering, what most likely be the fastest way to give such performance report? Is it safe to calculate solely by the hardware's capability, such as GFLOPs peak and memory bandwidth rate? Is there a mathematical way to calculate it? If there is, please prove your method with the corresponding problem description and the algorithm, and also the target hardwares' specifications. Or perhaps there already exists such tool to (roughly) estimate code porting? (Please don't the answer: 'kill yourself is the fastest way.')

  • UIWebView Loading content properly on iOS 6 simulator but not on device?

    - by David Hegner
    I have encountered a weird bug with a released app. My UIWebView is no longer loading content on iOS 6, yet the content still displays in the simulator. The activity indicator displays properly but then it loads a blank url? Again, this only happens on a device, not on the simulator. To provide extra context (in the simulator the NSURLRequest is assigned the proper URL. When run on a device the value is nil.) Here is my code : -(void)loading { if(!self.webView.loading) [self.activityIndicator stopAnimating]; else { [self.activityIndicator startAnimating]; } } - (void)viewDidLoad { [self.webView addSubview:self.activityIndicator]; NSURLRequest *requestUrl = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:self.url]; [self.webView loadRequest:requestUrl]; self.timer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:(1.0/2.0) target:self selector:@selector(loading) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; [super viewDidLoad]; NSLog(@"%@", requestUrl); }

  • Problems with 'while' loop and 'for' loop when reading through file

    - by David Beckham
    I wasted plenty of hours trying to figure out the problem but no luck. Tried asking the TA at my school, but he was useless. I am a beginner and I know there are a lot of mistakes in it, so it would be great if I can get some detail explanation as well. Anyways, basically what I am trying to do with the following function is: Use while loop to check and see if random_string is in TEXT, if not return NoneType if yes, then use a for loop to read lines from that TEXT and put it in list, l1. then, write an if statement to see if random_string is in l1. if it is, then do some calculations. else read the next line Finally, return the calculations as a whole. TEXT = open('randomfile.txt') def random (TEXT, random_string): while random_string in TEXT: for lines in TEXT: l1=TEXT.readline().rsplit() if random_string in l1: ''' do some calculations ''' else: TEXT.readline() #read next line??? return #calculations return None

  • Multithreading for loop while maintaining order

    - by David
    I started messing around with multithreading for a CPU intensive batch process I'm running. Essentially I'm trying to condense multiple single page tiffs into single PDF documents. This works fine with a foreach loop or standard iteration but can be very slow for several 100 page documents. I tried the following based on a some examples I found to use multithreading and it has significant performance improvements however it obliterates the page order instead of 1,2,3,4 it will be 1,3,4,2,6,5 on what thread completes first. My question is how would I utilize this technique while maintaining the page order and if I can will it negate the performance benefit of the multithreading? Thank you in advance. PdfDocument doc = new PdfDocument(); string mail = textBox1.Text; string[] split = mail.Split(new string[] { Environment.NewLine }, StringSplitOptions.None); int counter = split.Count(); // Source must be array or IList. var source = Enumerable.Range(0, 100000).ToArray(); // Partition the entire source array. var rangePartitioner = Partitioner.Create(0, counter); double[] results = new double[counter]; // Loop over the partitions in parallel. Parallel.ForEach(rangePartitioner, (range, loopState) => { // Loop over each range element without a delegate invocation. for (int i = range.Item1; i < range.Item2; i++) { f_prime = split[i].Replace(" " , ""); PdfPage page = doc.AddPage(); XGraphics gfx = XGraphics.FromPdfPage(page); XImage image = XImage.FromFile(f_prime); double x = 0; gfx.DrawImage(image, x, 0); } });

  • Confused about std::runtime_error vs. std::logic_error

    - by David Gladfelter
    I recently saw that the boost program_options library throws a logic_error if the command-line input was un-parsable. That challenged my assumptions about logic_error vs. runtime_error. I assumed that logic errors (logic_error and its derived classes) were problems that resulted from internal failures to adhere to program invariants, often in the form of illegal arguments to internal API's. In that sense they are largely equivalent to ASSERT's, but meant to be used in released code (unlike ASSERT's which are not usually compiled into released code.) They are useful in situations where it is infeasible to integrate separate software components in debug/test builds or the consequences of a failure are such that it is important to give runtime feedback about the invalid invariant condition to the user. Similarly, I thought that runtime_errors resulted exclusively from runtime conditions outside of the control of the programmer: I/O errors, invalid user input, etc. However, program_options is obviously heavily (primarily?) used as a means of parsing end-user input, so under my mental model it certainly should throw a runtime_error in the case of bad input. Where am I going wrong? Do you agree with the boost model of exception typing?

  • Jquery data() returning undefined

    - by David Lockwood
    I have been doing a simple jquery data() test. However it is returning undefined. It works on jsfiddle though (http://jsfiddle.net/yrCdj/). I have a jinja2 loop which populates a div and I want to tag it with some metadata for use later : {% for s in siteInfo[:markers[0]] %} <div class="sitebox2"> <script> $(".sitebox2:last").append('<a href="/sites/d?siteid={{s[5]}}">{{s[0]}}</a><br>Distance from {{loc}} is {{s[6]}} km.<br>'); $(".sitebox2:last").data('fruit', 'apple'); </script> </div> {% endfor %} I then try to call this data to test if it is working: <script type="text/javascript"> $(".sitebox2").each(function(k, v) { var f = $(v).data('fruit'); alert(f); }); </script> It returns undefined. Any ideas on what is going wrong?
