  Hi, if an INSERT and a SELECT are done simultaneously on a mysql table which one will go first? Example: Suppose "users" table row count is 0. Then this two queries are run at the same time (assume it's at the same mili/micro second): INSERT into users (id) values (1) and SELECT COUNT(*) from users Will the last query return 0 or 1?

  MySQL stores the date in my database (by default) as 'YYYY-MM-DD' The field type for my date is 'DATE' (I do not need any time storage).. Is there a simple way to change it by default to DD/MM/YYYY ? I call up different dates in 2 different tables, and no where in any of my code do I have anything resembling a date variable or anything! Hopefully this is a straight forward change?

I have a date, that is converted to mm-dd-yyyy when posting it to mysql i have re-ordered it to yyyy-mm-dd but yet it still will not insert $date = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($_POST['leaving_date']) ); any advice? I'm using cron to backup mysql databases and want to also automate the process of copying the .gz files a different web host. Any information on the limit of file size that can be copied would also be great. The backup file size range from 100 MB to few GB.

• Can't connect to MySQL database hosted in CloudBees

  I have a free CloudBees account and created a free ClearDB database using their wizards. My trouble is when I use their connection information (whether I try to connect from my Java app, or an outside tool - SQLyog to be exact) I take the error: Access denied for user 'b51dbc5757d79f'@'%' to database 'mywiki. The username provided by CloudBees does not contain those extra characters that the error message is displaying which seems like it would be a problem, but I'm not sure there is anything I can do about that since everything is configured for me. The username I am given is: b51dbc5757d79f - which I can delete and rebuild after sharing here :)

  I have a table of over 150,000 rows of which most would be updated daily. I have mysql caching turned on so the pages load faster however everytime the database is updated the pages load slow again, which I assume is the cache building itself again. So at the moment I have resorted to doing a wget -m --delete-after http://localhost/ on the server however this takes about 4 hours to complete and moves something like 13 gig. Is there a better way to do this?

The first time I run it, it will take 12 seconds, then anytime after that it'll be 500 milliseconds. I'm wondering, if the first query doesn't bring any results, would I still get the results for the second query? select * from ( -- first query ) as query1 left join ( -- second query ) as query2 on query1.id=query2.id left join ( -- third query ) as query3 on query1.id=query3.id; Update: what I need is a full join, however, MySQL does not support it, what would be a good way to emulate this?

  Hello, I have a CSV file which is about 1GB big and contains about 50million rows of data, I am wondering is it better to keep it as a CSV file or store it as some form of a database. I don't know a great deal about MySQL to argue for why I should use it or another database framework over just keeping it as a CSV file.
