  • Const unsigned char* to char*

    - by BSchlinker
So, I have two types at the moment: const unsigned char* unencrypted_data_char; string unencrypted_data; I'm attempting to perform a simple conversion of data from one to the other (string - const unsigned char*) As a result, I have the following: strcpy((unencrypted_data_char),(unencrypted_data.c_str())); However, I'm receiving the error: error C2664: 'strcpy' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'const unsigned char *' to 'char *' Any advise? I thought using reinterpret_cast would help, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

  • Need help receiving ByteArray data

    - by k80sg
Hi folks, I am trying to receive byte array data from a machine. It sends out 3 different types of data structure each with different number of fields which consist of mostly int and a few floats, and byte sizes, the first being 320 bytes, 420 for the second type and 560 for the third. When the sending program is launched, it fires all 3 types of data simultaneouly with an interval of 1 sec. Example: Sending order: Pack1 - 320 bytes 1 sec later Pack2 - 420 bytes 1 sec later Pack3 - 560 bytes 1 sec later Pack1 - 320 bytes ... .. . How do I check the incoming byte size before passing it to: byte[] handsize = new byte[bytesize]; as the data I receive are all out of order, for instance using the following the read all int: System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); I get many different sets of values whenever I run my prog although with some valid field data but they are all over the place. I am not too sure how exactly should I do it but I tried the following and apparently my data fields are not receiving in correct sequence: BufferedInputStream bais = new BufferedInputStream(requestSocket.getInputStream()); DataInputStream datainput = new DataInputStream(bais); byte[] handsize = new byte[560]; datainput.readFully(handsize); int n = 0; int intByte[] = new int[140]; for (int i = 0; i < 140 ; i++) { System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); intByte[n] = datainput.readInt(); n = n + 1; System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[2]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[3]); Also from the above code, the order of the values printed out with System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); and System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); are different. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

  • is (StringComparison.)Ordinal the same as InvariantCulture for testing equality?

    - by Tim Lovell-Smith
From what I read so far, it sounds like these StringComparison types are meant to differ in how they do sorting of strings, if so, does that mean that it does'nt matter which StringComparison you use when doing an equality comparison? string.Equals(a, b, StringComparison....) Extra credit: does it make a difference to the answer if we compare OrdinalIgnoreCase and InvariantCultureIgnoreCase? What is the answer then? Please provide supporting argument and/or references.

  • Any PICK programmers on stack?

    - by Coov
I work in a shop that is divided into two types of programmers. Programmers that code in .net & sql and programmers that code in pick. Actually, a few of the programmers are writing code in both pick and .net. I was curious if there are any pick programmers out there using StackOverflow? I'd like to get the pick programmers involved in the stack community.

  • How to use NSPredicate to catch child objects?

    - by Konstantin
I'm new to core data and try to get all children objects of various types with one query. Say there's an "Animal" type as parent and "Cat", "Dog" and "Bird" as children. I'd like to get both cats and dogs, but not Birds in single query returned as Animal objects. Is it possible?

  • .net code readability and maintainability

    - by george9170
There Currently is a local debate as to which code is more readability We have one programmer who comes from a c background and when that programmer codes it looks like string foo = "bar"; if (foo[foo.Length - 1] == 'r') { } We have another programmer that doesn't like this methodology and would rather use if (foo.EndsWith("r")) { } which way of doing these types of operations is better?

  • integer Max value constants in SQL Server T-SQL?

    - by AaronLS
Are there any constants in T-SQL like there are in some other languages that provide the max and min values ranges of data types such as int? I have a code table where each row has an upper and lower range column, and I need an entry that represents a range where the upper range is the maximum value an int can hold(sort of like a hackish infinity). I would prefer not to hard code it and instead use something like SET UpperRange = int.Max

  • ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Relation does not show in Contacts app

    - by Mark R
I programatically added almost every type of contact field to a contact and they all work except for Relation. Relation types get added to the contacts database, but they don't show up in the Contacts app. I don't see a way to add Relation information through the Contacts GUI for a standard Gmail contact either. Does the Contacts app just not support this data type?

  • Convert text from English characters to Hebrew characters

    - by Ovi
Using C#, when a user types a text in a normal textbox, how can you see the Hebrew equivalent of that text? I want to use this feature on a data entry form, when the secretary puts in the customer name using English characters to have it converted automatically in another textbox to the hebrew representation. Maybe something with CultureInfo("he-IL")...

  • Convincing Management to use WCF

    - by Kyle Rozendo
Hi All, I asked another question, stating that the I am unable to use WCF in a new Web Service project and have come to see that it seems to be the technology to use in regards to extensibility and security. My question is a simple one: How can I persuade management (and developers for that matter) to move over to using WCF as opposed to other web service technologies (ASMX/CFC)? They won't be concerned with a comparison between the types (especially with regard to ASMX), simply what there is to gain. Thanks for your time, Kyle

  • Character Encoding: â??

    - by akaphenom
I am trying to piece together the mysterious string of characters â?? I am seeing quite a bit of in our database - I am fairly sure this is a result of conversion between character encodings, but I am not completely positive. The users are able to enter text (or cut and paste) into a Ext-Js rich text editor. The data is posted to a severlet which persists it to the database, and when I view it in the database i see those strange characters... is there any way to decode these back to their original meaning, if I was able to discover the correct encoding - or is there a loss of bits or bytes that has occured through the conversion process? Users are cutting and pasting from multiple versions of MS Word and PDF. Does the encoding follow where the user copied from? Thank you website is UTF-8 We are using ms sql server 2005; SELECT serverproperty('Collation') -- Server default collation. Latin1_General_CI_AS SELECT databasepropertyex('xxxx', 'Collation') -- Database default SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS and the column: Column_name Type Computed Length Prec Scale Nullable TrimTrailingBlanks FixedLenNullInSource Collation text varchar no -1 yes no yes SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS The non-Unicode equivalents of the nchar, nvarchar, and ntext data types in SQL Server 2000 are listed below. When Unicode data is inserted into one of these non-Unicode data type columns through a command string (otherwise known as a "language event"), SQL Server converts the data to the data type using the code page associated with the collation of the column. When a character cannot be represented on a code page, it is replaced by a question mark (?), indicating the data has been lost. Appearance of unexpected characters or question marks in your data indicates your data has been converted from Unicode to non-Unicode at some layer, and this conversion resulted in lost characters. So this may be the root cause of the problem... and not an easy one to solve on our end.

  • parsec-3.1.0 with custom token datatype

    - by Tener
parsec-3.1.0 ( http://hackage.haskell.org/package/parsec-3.1.0 ) works with any token type. However there are combinators like Text.Parsec.Char.satisfy that are only defined for Char datatype. There doesn't seem to be any more general counterpart available. Should I define my own versions or did I miss something? Perhaps there are different parser libraries in Haskell that allows: custom token types custom parser state (I need to parse stateful format - Wavefront OBJ)

  • How to add WCF templates to Visual Studio Express?

    - by Mike Kantor
I am working through the book Learning WCF by Michele Bustamante, and trying to do it using Visual Studio C# Express 2008. The instructions say to use WCF project and item templates, which are not included with VS C# Express. There are templates for these types included with Visual Studio Web Developer Express, and I've tried to copy them over into the right directories for VS C# Express to find, but the IDE doesn't find them. Is there some registration process? Or config file somewhere?

  • How are integers casted to bytes in Java?

    - by helixed
I know Java doesn't allow unsigned types, so I was wondering how it casts an integer to a byte. Say I have an integer a with a value of 255 and I cast the integer to a byte. Is the value represented in the byte 11111111? In other words, is the value treated more as a signed 8 bit integer, or does it just directly copy the last 8 bits of the integer? Thanks, helixed

  • Using SQL Server Intergration Services (SSIS) can you read a file from a FileStream column in SQL Se

    - by tbrovold
I am trying to create a tool that I can upload different types of files "csv", Excel, XML and load those files into a FileStream column in the database as "Source" untouched over the web. Then using SSIS on the server I want to create a package that will process that file to be loaded into other tables to be used by the web application. Is it possible to have SSIS read a file from FileStream column? if so how?

  • Custom Annotation not showing all

    - by funatsg
    Okay, i have a number of pins on the mapkit. These pins showing different types of attractions. (E.g Parks, Farms and etc) I want to add custom images for these different types of pin. Parks have a park image and vice versa. However, when i added in, not all the images are showing successfully. For example, in parks, it should have 5 pins, but the image only came up in 2 pins, whereas other 3 is in default red pins. But if i used colours to differentiate them. For example, [pinsetPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorGreen]; It works! Anyone knows what is the problem? Relevant codes below. Tell me if you need more. thanks! - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation{ if ([annotation isKindOfClass:MKUserLocation.class]) { //user location view is being requested, //return nil so it uses the default which is a blue dot... return nil; } //NSLog(@"View for Annotation is called"); MKPinAnnotationView *pin=[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:nil]; pin.userInteractionEnabled=TRUE; MapEvent* event = (MapEvent*)annotation; NSLog(@"thetype: %@", event.thetype); if ([event.thetype isEqualToString:@"adv"]) { //[pin setPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorGreen]; pin.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"padv.png"]; } else if ([event.thetype isEqualToString:@"muse"]){ //[pin setPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorPurple]; pin.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"pmuse.png"]; } else if ([event.thetype isEqualToString:@"nightlife"]){ pin.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"pnight.png"]; } else if ([event.thetype isEqualToString:@"parks"]){ pin.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"ppark.png"]; } else if ([event.thetype isEqualToString:@"farms"]){ pin.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"pfarm.png"]; } else { [pin setPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorRed]; } pin.canShowCallout = YES; pin.animatesDrop = YES; UIButton *rightButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(clickAnnotation:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton setTitle:event.uniqueID forState:UIControlStateNormal]; pin.rightCalloutAccessoryView = rightButton; return pin; }
