  • Getting ftp_put progress

    - by Billiam
I have a php script on a web server that uploads a file to another remote server via ftp_put. How can I display the current upload progress to the user? The only similar system I've seen is for file uploads from the user, with ajax requests to check the local size of the uploaded file on the server. The equivalent system would be ajax requests to the web server, that then checked file sizes on the remote server and returned that data to the user's clientscript. This seems horribly inefficient to me. Is there a better way?

  • Jquery JSON .each() doesnt work in Google Chrome

    - by Sheriffen
I have a really simple chat application on a site which works pretty good. It requests by ajax like this: $.ajax({ url: "fetch/"+CHAT_SESSION_ID+"/"+LAST_MESSAGE_ID, dataType: "json", cache: false, success: function(data) { if (data.session_active == 0) { //If other chatter ended session alert("Session Ended"); } else { $.each(data.messages, function(i,msg){ alert(msg.message.Body); )}; } } }); and gets a json response that lookes like this: { "session_active": "1", "messages": [ {"message": {"MsgID": "100", "UserID": "1", "Body": "heyy"}}, ]} It works really well in at least FF and Saf but in Chrome it never gets past the .each! This is driving me nuts, have tried everything I've come across online for days but I can't seem to get it right. Please someone help! I can provide testserver if someone wants to firebug it themselves ;)

  • Send JSON object via GET and POST in php without having to wrapping it in another object literal.

    - by Kucebe
My site does some short ajax call in JSON format, using jQuery. At client-side i'd like to send object just passing it in ajax function, without being forced to wrap it in an object literal like this: {'person' : person}. For the same reasons, at server-side i'd like to manage objects without the binding of $_GET['person'] or $_POST['person']. For example: var person = { 'name' : 'John', 'lastName' : 'Doe', 'age' : 32, 'married' : true } sendAjaxRequest(person); in php, using: $person = json_decode(file_get_contents("php://input")); i can get easily the object, but only with POST format, not in GET. Any suggestions?

  • Programmatically Untag FB Photos with Javascript

    - by Tal
Hello! I've spent the past hour hacking away at this: I want to write a Javscript routine to programatically untag myself from photos on Facebook. Once it works, I'll run it in the Firebug console and untag myself from all Facebook photos (there's no way to do this through the GUI). I wanted to see if you guys had some advice to get me on my journey. I have a few methods in mind but haven't come too far along quite yet. I've tried an AJAX approach by creating a new HTML request and pointing it to the remove_tag URL, which looks something like this: /ajax/photo_tagging_ajax.php?pid=(PICTURE_ID)&id=(PICTURE_OWNER_ID)&subject=(SOMETHING)&name=(YOUR+NAME)&action=remove Not surprisingly, this doesn't work (yet). I've been checking the HTTP response in Firebug and it's quite different than the one when I actually untag a picture. It's not even sending a POST request. Will this even be possible or am I dreaming? (it's almost 4AM)

  • LINQ to SQL DB Connections not closing

    - by Joe
I am using LINQ to SQL in an asp.net mvc application. I am calling stored procedures via ajax calls. The active connections for 2-3 users goes to 100 active connections. and then server timeouts happen. I then used IOC -autofac to resuse the same repository that has a datacontext. now tho i get an active connection on the SQL server per loggedin user plus one. I have never seen this before. Why wouldnt Lin2sql not drop a connection when not in use? would calling a stored procedure in an ajax call in a loggedin session creat an a new active connection? Could a Stored Procedure with loops and or a waitfor hold open a connection??

  • handing data returned from jquery get request

    - by ian
I have a simple jquery script as follows: $('a').click(function() { //get the id of the song we want to play var song_id = $(this).attr("id"); //do a get request to get the information about the song $.get("http://www.site.com/v4/ajax/get_song_info.php", { id: song_id, }, function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); //alert( song_id ); }); I have gotten it to work and it returns several bits of data 'artist' 'title' 'song duration' and so on. How do I process my 'data' so I can then update my page with each bit. In this case I want to set a series of '' to hold each of the values returned. Thanks.

  • send javaScript variable to php variable

    - by mrbunyrabit
First i thought that i had to convert javascript to php, but then i found out that cant because of server and client side executions. So now I simply want to send ONE variable <script type="text/javascript"> function scriptvariable() { var theContents = "the variable"; } </script> to a php variable <?php $phpvariable ?> That function in the javascript executes when lets say i click on a button. Now i have Nooo idea how to get that phpvariable Equal to the javascript one so i can use that phpvariable to look up stuff in my Database. I know i can add it to my url or some thing, and just refresh the page.. But id like to do it with AJAX as further in my webpage i might have to use this Ajax method.. So is there an easy way to do this without having to dump pages of code on my page to do one simple thing?

  • Toggling between states on 3 containers in jQuery

    - by Saif Bechan
Hello, i have an php/mysql/ajax auction application application. Now there is a section that can have 3 states. State one, the user can place a bid.(Bid button is shown) State two, the user has to wait before he can place a new bid(number of sec is shown) State three, the user has an auto bidding system enabled.(The price maximum and amount ate shown). Now i get these values trough jquery ajax, and i want to present the user the right section. Now the code i have is as follows: if(data[i].bidwait >= 0 && data[i].amount == ''){ // In this section the user has no autobiddings, and can place a bidding $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').addClass('none'); }else if(data[i].bidwait < 0 && data[i].amount == ''){ // In this section the user has to wait the amount of sec to place a new bid $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-text').text(data[i].bidwait * -1); }else{ // In the last section the user has the auto bidder enabled, so that is shown $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .amount').html(data[i].amount == 0 ? '&#8734;' : data[i].amount); $(productContainer+' .maxprice').html(data[i].maxprice == 0 ? '&#8734;' : data[i].maxprice); } This looks like an awful lot of code for something so small. I was wondering if there is an easier method to accomplish such a thing. Speed is a huge issue for me because this has to run every second in the users browser. If there is no other option i am just going to remove this option and go with a no ajax approuch. If you have been, thank you for reading!

  • If you had to work with horrible HTML, what would you do?

    - by Doug
I was looking over some of my friend's HTML and CSS, and I was speechless (in a bad way). If I had to work with that, such as putting AJAX into it, then it would have been a lot of work. I would have to rebuild a lot of the HTML aspects, otherwise it wouldn't work well with the AJAX. What would you do in a situation like so? Would you just edit at the minimum? Would you do a overhaul and redo the whole HTML aspect? Would you go back to the client and ask for more money because it was a lot more work than expected? I'm interested in strategies and approaches and how it's done out in the field.

  • Jquery mobile function calls before Ajax Request end

    - by rpmlins
    Here is my problem. When My Home page shows, I call the LoadUser functions, which on success, sets the globalUser variable with the returned json, and after it loads I call the alert function but it says globalUser is undefined. I have tried many other work arounds, but I always get the undefined mesage. If I call the alert(globalUser); on the success function, it works as expected alerting the object. $('#Home').live('pageshow', function(event) { $.when(LoadUser()).done(function(a1) { alert(globalUser); }); }); function LoadUser() { $.ajax({ // connects with the web service and validate de user input url: "http://localhost:51396/Icademy.asmx/GetUser", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: { "userName": "'rodrigo'" }, dataType: "jsonp", success: function(json) { globalUser = JSON.parse(json.d); return globalUser; }, error: function(ret) { alert("Um erro ocorreu, tente novamente mais tarde."); } }); }

  • javascript / jQuery variable problem (possibly caching issue)

    - by waitinforatrain
Standard AJAX query with jQuery: var globalTitle = ""; var pages = ["a", "b", "c"]; for (var i = 0; i < pages.length; i++) { createpage(pages[i]); } function createpage(title) { globalTitle=title; console.log (globalTitle); //All looks good here $.ajax({ url: "createpage.php?id=" + title, context: document.body, success: success }); } The success() function uses globaltitle which is why I had to declare it global. In the success() function though console.log (globalTitle); constantly gives me "a". It's like the variable is assigned but is then cached every time success() is called. Happens in FF 4 and Chrome 8. Any thoughts?

  • Does jquery require timestamp on GET Calls in IE7?

    - by Mithun P
Please see the jQuery code below, it used to paginate some search results paginate: function() { $("#wishlistPage .results").html("<div id='snakeSpinner'><img src='"+BASE_URL+"images/snake.gif' title='Loading' alt='...'/></div>"); var url = BASE_URL+"wishlist/wishlist_paginated/"; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: url, data: { sort_by:$('#componentSortOrder input:hidden').val(), offset:My.WishList.offset, per_page: 10, timestamp: new Date().getTime() }, success: function(transport){ $("#wishlistPage .results").html(transport); } }); }, My issue is not with the pagination, issue is when i need to call this same function when something happed to other part of the page which remove some search results, it brings the old results in IE7, other browsers works fine. So added the timestamp: new Date().getTime() part. That fixed the IE issue. I want o know why this happens in jQuery? Do I need to include a timestamp parameter to URL to avoid caching in all jQuery Ajax calls?

  • jQuery reader() on downloaded content.

    - by David
Hi all! jQuery.ready() allows us to wait for the construction of the webpage. Recently it has been added support to wait until CSS files are loaded. I would like to know if that feature can be used for downloaded content, because I fetch content via $.ajax() that holds CSS references and I would like to retrieve the content of the CSS before working with the retrieved content. Fetch with $.ajax() the html. -- Wait until all CSS is downloaded. Show to fetched content (already css'ed). Thank you very much for your help.

  • Check if IsCallback on Application_BeginRequest

    - by user136405
I have a web application (.NET 3.5) that has this code in Global.asax: Sub Application_BeginRequest(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) LinkLoader() PathRewriter() PathAppender() End Sub I want all those functions inside to get called except for when it's an AJAX call back. So, ideally I would have it changed to: Sub Application_BeginRequest(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) If not Page.IsCallback then LinkLoader() PathRewriter() PathAppender() End If End Sub But there is not access to the page object here. So, basically my question is: How do I check if the request is an AJAX call back inside Application_BeginRequest? Thank you very much for any feedback.

  • How to set ID of item when the item is not yet created..?

    - by hoppl
I'll try to make myself clear with an example: Imagine an admin page to add a product to a database (product list). When I open the ADD ITEM page, the item is not yet created (not until I click the submit button), but let's say I want to add categories this product will appear in (with AJAX for example). When I run the AJAX script, i need to tell it which ID (my product) to put these categories in... How should I do this.? Is inserting a blank item in the database (to get mysql_insert_id) when the page opens a good way to do this.? Is it prone to conflicts or errors..? How do you guys do it.?

  • Expanding on requestaudit - Tracing who is doing what...and for how long

    - by Kyle Hatlestad
One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   >requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.493 Audit Request Monitor !csMonitorTotalRequests,47,1,0.39009329676628113,0.21034042537212372,1>requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.509 Audit Request Monitor Request Audit Report over the last 120 Seconds for server wcc-base_4444****requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.509 Audit Request Monitor -Num Requests 47 Errors 1 Reqs/sec. 0.39009329676628113 Avg. I also recently ran into the case where services were being called from a client through RIDC.  All of the services were being executed as the same user, but they wanted to correlate the requests coming from the client to the ones being executed on the server.  So what we did was add a new field to the request audit list: RequestAuditAdditionalVerboseFieldsList=ClientToken And then in the RIDC client, ClientToken was added to the binder along with a unique value that could be traced for that request.  Now they had a way of tracing on both ends and identifying exactly which client request resulted in which request on the server.
