I'm trying to replace a bunch of Linux shell scripts with Scala scripts.
One of the remaining challenges is how to scan an entire directory of JARs and place them into the classpath. Currently this is done in the shell script prior to invoking the scala JVM. I'd like to eliminate the shell script completely.
Is there an elegant scala idiom for this?
I have found this other question but in Java it seems hardly worthwhile to mess with it:

I have a div which, when my page is first loaded, is about 100px from the top (it holds some buttons etc. for the page).
When a user scrolls past it, I would like the div to "follow" the user in that it attaches to the top of the screen. When the user returns to the top of the page, I want it back in its original position.
Visualization - xxxxx is the div:
Default (page load) User vertically scrolled well past it
--------- ---------
| | |xxxxxxx| < after div reaches top of screen when
|xxxxxxx| | | page is scrolled vertically, it stays
| | | | there
--------- ---------
How can I select only distinct elements for the XML document using XPATH?I've tried to use the 'distinct-values' function but it didn't work for some reason..
d = {'apple':9,'oranges':3,'grapes':22}
How do I return the largest key/value?
Edit: How do I make a list that has this sorted by largest to lowest value?
Assume I have method
void SomeMethod(Action callback)
This method does some work in background thread and then invokes callback. The question is - how to block current thread until callback is called ?
There is an example
bool finished = false;
SomeMethod(delegate{
finished = true;
});
while(!finished)
Thread.Sleep();
But I'm sure there should be better way
Suppose I have some output from a command (such as ls -1):
a
b
c
d
e
...
I want to apply a command (say echo) to each one, in turn. E.g.
echo a
echo b
echo c
echo d
echo e
...
What's the easiest way to do that in bash?
Hi all, would the following Jquery selector get all of the 4th td elements of all the tables on the current page, and return their text as an array?:
var isbn = $.makeArray($("table tr td:nth-child(4)").text());
Hi all:
I am working on a C# application that involves using XML schema file as databases for message definitions and XML file as databases for message data.
I was following the example I found:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.xml.xmldatadocument.dataset%28v=VS.100%29.aspx
I wrote my own xsd and XML file. I used the same approach in the example, read the xsd file and then load
the xml file. But I don't have any "Rows" created for my DataTable. I used debugger to step through my codes. When I am get my DataTable use xmlDataDocument.DataSet.Tables["name of the table"], the Rows property of that tables is 0.
Does anybody know what might cause the DataSet tables not get populated after I loaded the xmlDataDocument with XML file?
Here is a fragment of XSD file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<xs:schema id="test"
targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
xmlns="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
xmlns:mstns="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
>
<xs:element name="reboot_msg">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:complexContent>
<xs:extension base="header_s">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="que_name">
<xs:simpleType>
<xs:restriction base="xs:string">
<xs:minLength value="4"/>
<xs:maxLength value="8"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
</xs:element>
<xs:element name="priority" type="xs:unsignedShort"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:extension>
</xs:complexContent>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
and here is a fragment of the XML file:
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<test xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" >
<reboot_msg>
<message_length>16</message_length>
<message_type>7</message_type>
<message_sequence>0</message_sequence>
<que_name>NONE</que_name>
<priority>5</priority>
</reboot_msg>
It could be the XML and XSD file I created missed something. Please help.
Thanks
I have been working in a big program and one of its functionalities should be to print the contents of the main window. I checked the API and found this example:
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/2d/printing/gui.html
it was very helpful, I tried to use that code in my program by placing this inside the actionperformed method of my print button:
PrinterJob job = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
job.setPrintable(this);
boolean ok = job.printDialog();
if (ok) {
try {
job.print();
} catch (PrinterException ex) {
/* The job did not successfully complete */
}
}
If I click the print button, I get a printer dialog and when I tell it to print, it just prints a blank document. I know the above code is not all I need, as I've seen in the API's examples there is a print() method, but apparently they never call it, so it is pretty confusing. I've tried calling and using it many times, but with no success.
Also, I think that when I finally get it to print, my window will need to be printed in the landscape orientation, it even may need some scaling. Any ideas on how to do that?
I would like any useful help to help me implement this code successfully. I know I should be able to do it by myself just by checking the documentation (I've tried for almost 2 days now) but I can't get it to work. I've learned all the programming I know through the internet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is there an ability to import fixed width file to oracle?
Preferably through .net(c#) for catching errors during import and showing them to user.
P.S. File has 5 types of rows. For example 1 row has 5 columns, 2-nd has 50 columns.
So I have a managed AlertDialog with a number of EditTexts & separate portrait + landscape layouts. The user opens the dialog in portrait mode, enters some text and then all of a sudden decides to pop out the keyboard. Now, I need to remove the dialog and recreate it for the changed layout persisting the text entered.
What I can think of is getting references to the EdiTexts in onPrepareDialog(..), then getting the actual text in onConfigurationChanged(..), then removing the dialog, then showing it again, then populating it. Rather ugly, huh?
Are there any better options?
Why does x alerts undefined for iframe but works for embed. I'm grabbing the iframe or embed code from a textarea
<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9kiWvkj2ldWiU?hd=1"></iframe>
var textarea = $('#embedModal textarea'),
textareaValue = textarea.val(),
$embed = $($(textareaValue).find('iframe')),
x = $embed.attr('src');
alert(x); //alerts undefined for iframe
If you change find('iframe') to find('embed') and you try with the below embed code. then i'm able to get the value of src, but with iframe i get undefined. Seems strange.

I have an analysis that can be parallelized over a different number of processes. It is expected that things will be both IO and CPU intensive (very high throughput short-read DNA alignment if anyone is curious.)
The system running this is a 48 core linux server.
The question is how to determine the optimum number of processes such that total throughput is maximized. At some point the processes will presumably become IO bound such that adding more processes will be of no benefit and possibly detrimental.
Can I tell from standard system monitoring tools when that point has been reached?
Would the output of top (or maybe a different tool) enable me to distinguish between a IO bound and CPU bound process? I am suspicious that a process blocked on IO might still show 100% CPU utilization.
How to acces each element in macro if the definition is like MACRO(name, seq) and the code is like:
MACRO("TheName",
(Elem1)
(Elem2)
(Elem3)
)
I want to generate the next code:
MACRO("TheName",
ELEMMACRO(Elem1)
ELEMMACRO(Elem2)
ELEMMACRO(Elem3)
)
Or something like that. In other words, I want to process every parameter separately (I don't care of definition, even if it will be something like
MACRO("TheName",
Elem1,
Elem2,
Elem3
)
There could be more elements, there could be less. I have tried V_ARGS (I need it only for gcc), but I can only copy all the elements by that, not to process them separately.
What can I do?
P.S. Because of some reasons, I can't use Boost.
To clearly separate the Controller and View layers, I do not longer want to pass full objects to my views. Instead I want to pass only arrays and objects that contain the data but do not have any methods. Otherwise a view script would be able to delete Doctrine records or traverse in the object tree to data that was not intended for the view.
Hi:
My program uses sockets for inter-process communication. There is one server listening on a socket port(B) on localhost waiting for a list of TCP clients to connect. And on the other end of the server is another a socket(A) that sends out data to internet. The server is designed to take everything the TCP clients send him and forward to a server on the internet. My question is if two of the TCP clients happened to send data at the same time, is this going to be a problem for the server's outgoing socket(A)?
Thanks
In R, what is the most efficient way to count the length between 2 values. for example, i have vector x , which are all randomly choose from 1 to 100, how can i find out the length between the first"2" and first"40",
x=(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,40,1,2,3,21,4,1,23,4,43,23,4,12,3,43,5,36,3,45,12,31,3,4,23,41,23,5,53,45,3,7,6,36)
for this vector, the answer should be 5 and 6
I'm working on a windows forms application that uses a DataGridView. Some of the cells contain a DataGridViewComboBox. In some cases, I have several values to display in the combobox. For that scenario, it would be better to use a ListBox instead of a ComboBox.
Is it possible to use a multi-column listbox within a DataGridView instead of a ComboBox?
If so, can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks much.
