  • How has RIA technology evolved and what technology stack currently rules this domain?

    - by Rachel
I am new to RIA and have not been actively involved with this technology in my projects as we using server-side Java, but I want to gain some experience with RIA. My questions are: How has RIA technology evolved and in your opinion? What technology stack currently rules this domain? What are the recommended resources for learning RIA? In general what is the suggested approach for getting started on the RIA journey?

  • Is it possible to profile memory usage of unit tests?

    - by Rowland Shaw
I'm looking at building some unit tests to ascertain if resources are leaking (or not) using the unit testing framework that comes with Visual Studio. At present, I'm evaluating the latest version of ANTS Profiler, but I can't quite work out if it allows me to force a snapshot from code (so that I can take a snapshot, run a unit test a few hundred times, force a garbage collection, and take another snapshot, and save the results out for later analysis). Is this possible to do with ANTS/Visual Studio or should I be exploring options with other profilers?

  • eclipse 3.5 filter .git folder

    - by jpfuentes2
I'm using eclipse 3.5.2 and cannot seem to use "filter resources" to filter out .git folders in any of my projects for any of my perspectives: javascript, ruby, and php. I've tried adding the filter to plugin.xml as suggested on this blog but it is for eclipse 3.4 and doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

  • Need some guidelines on iPad animation programming

    - by thomasvsundert
Hi, I'm creating an interactive e-book for the iPad. This book will contain multiple pages that will consist of a lot of animations (frame and motion animations), transitions,... I was wondering what my development options are, should I use OpenGL, Quartz,...? I've use UIImageView.animationImages before and found that it had really bad performance. What's the best way to draw frame based animations? Does anybody have some good pointers to resources on this? thanks in advance, Thomas

  • Image panning in sencha touch 2

    - by MattD
I'm trying to have show a large image that the user can pan around (so scroll vertically & horizontally). But I can't get the image to scroll. This is what I have: Ext.define('myapp.view.image.Floorplan', { extend: 'Ext.Container', requires: 'Ext.Img', xtype: 'floorplan', config: { title: 'Floorplan', iconCls: 'locate', items: [ { xtype: 'image', scrollable: true, src: './resources/images/floorplan.png', height: 1570, width: 1047 } ] } }); How can I make the image scrollable? Thanks Matt

  • Java Security Manager for JRuby

    - by nijikunai
I'm allowing user supplied ruby code to run in server(java scripting), and since jruby doesn't support safe-levels as in ruby I'm thinking about using java's security manager. Is this a good decision? Has anyone else implemented this? Are there any good articles/books/resources that introduce me to security manager?

  • Can I send a ctrl-C (SIGINT) to an application on Windows?

    - by Matthew Murdoch
I have (in the past) written cross-platform (Windows/Unix) applications which, when started from the command line, handled a user-typed Ctrl-C combination in the same way (i.e. to terminate the application cleanly). Is it possible on Windows to send a Ctrl-C/SIGINT/equivalent to a process from another (unrelated) process to request that it terminate cleanly (giving it an opportunity to tidy up resources etc.)?

  • service.close() vs. service.abort() - WCF example

    - by Larry Watanabe
In one of the WCF tutorials, I saw the followign sample code: Dim service as ...(a WCF service ) try .. service.close() catch ex as Exception() ... service.abort() end try Is this the correct way to ensure that resources (i.e. connections) are released even under error conditions? Thanks for the answers guys! I upvoted you all.

  • Check if NSURL is Local File

    - by golfromeo
This is a pretty simple question- how can I check if a NSURL is linking to a local file? I know, RTFM, but I checked the documentation and I don't seem to see any methods related to this. The only methods I did find were -isFileReferenceURL and -isFileURL, but I think these only check if the URL directly links to a file. note: I'm making an iPhone app, so by "local file" I mean a .html file stored in the project's resources. Thanks for any help in advance.

  • How do I store multiple copies of the same field in Django?

    - by Alistair
I'm storing OLAC metadata which describes linguistic resources. Many of the elements of the metadata are repeatable -- for example, a resource can have two languages, three authors and four dates associated with it. Is there any way of storing this in one model? It seems like overkill to define a model for each repeatable metadata element -- especially since the models will only have one field: it's value.

  • Java socket close timeout

    - by Shayan
In java when you close a socket it doesn't do anything anymore but it actually closes the tcp connection after a timeout time. I need thousands of sockets and I want them to be closed exactly after closed them not after wasting my time and my resources! What can I do? Thank you.

  • What happens with unarchived objects?

    - by Dane Man
After I've unarchived an object with NSKeyedUnarchiver, I am able to use it like usual, but I am unable to re-archive it. When I try, it crashes. [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:unarchivedObject toFile:fileName]; I tried looking in the developer resources in apple but I haven't seen a thorough explination of proper usage of NSKeyedArchiver. Please Help.

  • Perforce for a Subversion user?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
I've just changed jobs. My previous employer uses Subversion, my new employer uses Perforce. Are there any resources out there that'll help me, as a user change my mental model from a Subversion one to a Perforce one? What are the analogs to common SVN command, which concepts are implemented differently?

  • What are the best DI-IOC references for a vb.net programmer?

    - by bglenn
I code primarily in vb.net. I've been doing basic dependency injection manually and am looking to learn more about DI/IoC and maybe use a DI/IoC framework/container like Ninject. There are lots of examples and write-ups using Java and C# code. I'm looking for the best resources for vb.net programmers. Likewise, is there a particular framework that would be easiest for a vb.net programmer to pick up?

  • Package SWF into an EXE or APP

    - by Jeremy White
I am trying to adjust my Flash development workflow so that I am using Flash Builder for all of my coding and multiple FLA files for the user interfaces. I will be creating an ActionScript project in Flash Builder and then having each FLA export a SWC into a resources folder. It is important that I retain the ability to export PC and Mac -- EXE and app, respectively -- projector files. Is there a way of doing this with the Flash compiler or any 3rd party tools?

  • CREON development advice

We have a client who has requested a new project with development to be done on a CREON terminal (Spectra Technologies). Can anyone recommend some good resources about terminal and in particular CREON development. Or know of a reputable development team specializing in CREON development. I have done a fair bit of googling / binging without much success.
