• SQL, problem with OrderBy / GroupBy

  Hi, In my table I have two fields among others : article_id and *version* *example: article_id : 5 // version 1 aricle_id: 5 // version 2 article_id: 6 // version 1* What i want to do is to retrieve the latest version for each article id (in my example i want to retrieve the article 5 version 2 object and article 6 and version 1 object). The problem is that mysql is doing the groupBy instead of the OrderBy so it returns to me the FIRST version of each article, but i want the opposit. Do you have an idea please ?

• Symfony sfMail not delivering emails

  Hi, somehow sfMail doesn't want to send emails and I can't find the reaseon why. send() simply returns 0, here is my code: $message = $this->getMailer()->compose("[email protected]", "[email protected], "test", "testing"); echo $this->getMailer()->send($message); factories.yml: all: mailer: class: sfMailer param: logging: %SF_LOGGING_ENABLED% charset: %SF_CHARSET% delivery_strategy: realtime transport: class: Swift_SmtpTransport param: host: smtp.email.com port: 25 encryption: ~ username: [email protected] password: mytestpass and I simply get "0" as result. Any ideas what am I doing wrong?

• Query.fetch(limit=2000) only moves cursor forward by 1000 entities?

  Let's say I have 2500 MyModel entities in my datastore, and I run this code: query = MyModel.all() first_batch = query.fetch(2000) len(first_batch) # 2000 next_query = MyModel.all().with_cursor(query.cursor()) next_batch = next_query.fetch(2000) What do you think len(next_batch) is? 500, right? Nope - it's 1500. Apparently the query cursor never moves forward by more than 1000, even when the query itself returns more than 1000 entities. Should I do something different or is it just an App Engine bug?

• PDF printing in java

  Hello, is there a way to print pdf files from a java webapplication on the local printer of the end user (connected via vpn)? The simple lookup of a printer via Java Printing Service always returns printer which are not able to print pdfs. Are there other libs which can be used for printing in java? By the way, just opening the pdf in the browser is not an option, though it must be possible to run scheduled batch printing without user interaction. Thanks in advance

  I can get the active window's process, but I have no idea how to get the location of that process, as far as I can see the process object only has ProcessName property which just returns like chrome instead of C:\pathtochrome\chrome.exe How can I get the latter because I'm trying to get the process's File Description attribute, but I need the full path to it.

  How can I get the file size of a file in C when the file size is greater than 4gb? ftell returns a 4 byte signed long, limiting it to two bytes. stat has a variable of type off_t which is also 4 bytes (not sure of sign), so at most it can tell me the size of a 4gb file. What if the file is larger than 4 gb?

• Django: What's the correct way to get the requesting IP address?

  I'm trying to develop an app using Django 1.1 on Webfaction. I'd like to get the IP address of the incoming request, but when I use request.META['REMOTE_ADDR'] it returns 127.0.0.1. There seems to be a number of different ways of getting the address, such as using HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR or plugging in some middleware called SetRemoteAddrFromForwardedFor. Just wondering what the best approach was?

May be the hosting provider (bigrock) not allowing that. It's DataNavigateUrlFormatString property is set to View.aspx?id={0}&isTechnical={1} Select command of appropriate SqlDataSource returns columns of type INT and BYTE (from SQL Server 2008). So displayed string becomes something like View.aspx?id=1&isTechnical=1. But I want to display isTechnical=true|False, i.e. Convert.ToBoolean(row["isTechnical"]).ToString().ToLowerInvariant(). How to implement such conversion in page markup?

  Hi Folks, When you click the "Click an element on the page to inspect" arrow with FireBug, it puts a Blue Border around the target element, and also returns the DOM Id. I am building an application and that feature would be awesome to add. Be able to hover over elements and highlight the target, upon clicking return the DOM Id or CSS selector to the application.   I have the following SQL query which returns the correct results: SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name = '???\\\"?-???????' If I change it to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????' or to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????%' It doesn't work. It will work if I remove all the backslashes and " from the query.
