    Hi, I have a thread running under tomcat which creates a HttpUrlConnection and reads it through BufferedInputStream. After fetching data for some urls, it stalls. I got the jstack of the process which says HttpUrlConnection is locked and BufferedInputStream is also locked. It seems that the problem is in the function WebForm_OnSubmit() that is inserted to the form after PropertyProxyValidator adding.   • Twitter API + OAuth - 401 error developing locally using reverse SSH tunnel

    I'm developing a django application which lets users connect their Twitter account. As I'm developing locally, I have set up a reverse SSH tunnel so that the Twitter API has a valid callback url (myserver.net): ssh -nNTR :6969:localhost:8000 myserver.net On successful authentication, Twitter passes back its OAuth access tokens to myserver.net, which in turn attempts to access Twitter's API, which returns a 401 error. I assume that because the callback is different to the address which is accessing the API (myserver.net / localhost), Twitter denies me access. I have tried this: export http_proxy="http://myserver.net:3128" Where myserver.net:3128 is running a Squid Proxy server to tunnel Twitter's API requests from my development machine so they appear to be coming from myserver, but receive the same 401 error. When I deploy to a server with a proper hostname / static IP address it works fine. What else do I need to do?

It has good architecture (doc/view) but is not transparent like Win32 programming to understand how window program works in the background. So with this situation, is it good to extend the exposure on MFC programming or better to switch to .NET since for faster UI design with ease in maintenance. How globally companies are looking into MFC as a technology for UI developments. Are they comfortable in supporting their developers to continue with MFC or looking for changing their development technology.

    First and foremost: I know it's not right or even good thing to do but my current customer will not cave in. So here's what he is asking for (this is for in-house-behind-a-firewall-etc project). In the web report I need to supply a link which points to the executable script that lives on the universally mapped location (network file server). When user clicks on it it is expected to run on the local client starting local executable which should be pre-installed on the client's box. It should be agnostic to OS (Windows or Linux) and the browser used. Customer doesn't mind to click on angry pop-up alerts but he wants to do it once per client browser (or at minimum - session). QUESTION: Will trusted Java applet be able to do it? Or is the any other (better, simpler) ways of achieving the same? ActiveX control is out of question

I use an ORM framework, XPO from DevExpress. But, I have no access control function built in. I surfed Internet and I found in WCF Data Services, there is an interesting concept, Interceptor, which is following AOP(Aspect Oriented Programming). I am wondering who has such an experience to build access control in ORM. My basic requirement is : It should be a general method and controlled by users in runtime. So any hard coding is not acceptable. It could be based on attribute, database table, or even an external assembly. I am willing to buy a ready solution. According to the idea of AOP, an access control function can be integrated with existing functions easily and nearly not knowingly to the previous developer;) Any suggestions are welcome.

  • Android: Adding data to Intent fails to load Activity

    I have a widget that supposed to call an Activity of the main app when the user clicks on widget body. My setup works for a single widget instance but for a second instance of the same widget the PendingIntent gets reused and as result the vital information that I'm sending as extra gets overwritten for the 1st instance. For example when I browse in Chrome all the drop downs size changes and textbox becomes small.In IE8 all the dropdowns , comboboxes and the size of the grids gets changed.     I'm stuck with a bit of an annoying problem right now. I've got a Silverlight 4 application (which runs OOB by default). It uses WCF with net.tcp as means of communicating with the server. The client uses a central instance of the wcf client proxy. As long as everything keeps running on the server side, everything's fine. If i kill the server in the middle of everything, i drown in an avalanche of exceptions on the client side (connection lost, channel faulted etc etc). Now i'm looking for a way to handle this in a clean and centralized way (if centralized is possible). The SL app has one central client object sitting in App.cs (public static MyClient Client { get;set;}), which gets initialized on application start. Any idea how to properly handle any connectivity problems on the client object?

  • Which .NET performance and/or memory profilers will allow me to profile a DLL?

    I write a lot of .NET based plug-ins for other programs which are usually compiled as a DLL which is up to the native application to start up. I've been using Equatec's profiler, which works great, but now would like something with more features, including the ability to profile memory usage. I tried out Red Gate's Ant Profiler, but as far as I can see there is no way to profile a DLL. The only option is to profile an EXE. So my question is what other profiling tools are available that will allow me to profile a single library DLL rather than an EXE. I'm assuming this would require injecting profile code into the library as Equatec does?

  • Displaying a collection of objects in a .Net grid on a smartphone without data binding.

    I know there's No DataGridView in the CF, but I've got a collection of in-memory objects that I want to display in a grid on a phone. Options I have thought of: Stick all the objects into a SQL-CE database and use a bound datagrid. This'll mean pulling my classes apart and separating the data from the functionality, which may or may not be a bad thing, but seems a little overkill. Write my own dataset and binding code so that I can bind my collection of objects to a bound datagrid. No idea how practical or possible this is, but seems like it's either do-able or impossible and I'm hoping someone here knows which! Find a third-party unbound grid control. The only one I've seen mentioned is OpenNetCF, which I'm downloading as I type. Are there others? Are any of them any good? Do something very nasty with dynamically loading labels and textboxes into a scrolling region on the form. REALLY don't want to go there. I'm not much experienced with data-bound controls other than occasionally making use of the very vanilla functionality in WinForms or ASP.Net, and that quite a long time ago, so if any of the above are silly, please be gentle.     A friend of mine is interested in learning how to program computers, but she knows nothing about programming. I suggested that Python might be a good language to start with, but after some googling, I couldn't find any tutorials that covered both programming and Python in an adequate way. I don't want her to go through the tiresome "learn algorithms in pseudocode first" routine. Instead, I'd like a tutorial that will explain the basic ideas while working towards a real goal, e.g. a very simple console game. Does anyone know of any such tutorials? Do you think that I'm mistaken in how I'm handling this? Is Python a bad choice? I know that something like C, C++ or Java won't work - too many details will be very counterproductive. On the other hand, I think that Lisp might be too mathematical and abstract. Python, on the other hand, will let her even do something like coding primitive graphical games in a short period of time.

  • Why are there performance differences when a SQL function is called from .Net app vs when the same c

    We are having a problem in our test and dev environments with a function that runs quite slowly at times when called from an .Net Application. When we call this function directly from management studio it works fine. Here are the differences when they are profiled: From the Application: CPU: 906 Reads: 61853 Writes: 0 Duration: 926 From SSMS: CPU: 15 Reads: 11243 Writes: 0 Duration: 31 Now we have determined that when we recompile the function the performance returns to what we are expecting and the performance profile when run from the application matches that of what we get when we run it from SSMS. It will start slowing down again at what appear to random intervals. We have not seen this in prod but they may be in part because everything is recompiled there on a weekly basis. So what might cause this sort of behavior?

  • TeamCity's build agent unable to find PowerShell

    I have TC's build agent installed on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Core. The server has PowerShell 2.0 installed (double checked, and actually from PS downloaded the TC installation). Looking at some build configuration I see these being incompatible with this agent, because powershell_x86/powershell_x64 is required. I tried deleting build agents dirs to force upgrade, but no luck. Interestingly if I provide powershell_x86, powershell_x86_Path (and for 64bit) variables into config file manually, everything runs fine. Is there anything I can do to have the build agent find PowerShell automatically? What/where is it looking for it? Maybe the 'Core' is problem.
