  • How to create list of numbers and append its reverse to it efficiently in Ruby

    - by Kiwi
    Given a minimum integer and maximum integer, I want to create an array which counts from the minimum to the maximum by two, then back down (again by two, repeating the maximum number). For example, if the minimum number is 1 and the maximum is 9, I want [1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 9, 7, 5, 3, 1]. I'm trying to be as concise as possible, which is why I'm using one-liners. In Python, I would do this: range(1, 10, 2) + range(9, 0, -2) In Ruby, which I'm just beginning to learn, all I've come up with so far is: (1..9).inject([]) { |r, num| num%2 == 1 ? r << num : r }.reverse.inject([]) { |r, num| r.unshift(num).push(num) } Which works, but I know there must be a better way. What is it?

  • Displaying list of objects as single column in a bound gridview (Winforms)?

    - by Carrie Nelson
    I have a gridview that is bound to a datasource on a Windows Form (VB.NET). The grid displays a list of "certifications", and each "certification" can be associated with many languages. So in the grid, I'd like to display "languages" as a column, and display a comma delimited list of the language names for each "certification". In the "certification" class, one of the properties is a list of "language" objects, and each "language" has an ID (guid), name (string), and value (integer). So in the datasource, I have the list of "languages", but I can't figure out how to display them in a column on the grid. The gridview won't let me add the language list property as a column. So is the ONLY way to add a new property on the "certification" class, which returns a string that contains the comma delimited list, and show THAT on the grid? Or is there a way to display that list of "languages"?

  • List of divisors of an integer n (Haskell)

    - by Code-Guru
    I currently have the following function to get the divisors of an integer: -- All divisors of a number divisors :: Integer -> [Integer] divisors 1 = [1] divisors n = firstHalf ++ secondHalf where firstHalf = filter (divides n) (candidates n) secondHalf = filter (\d -> n `div` d /= d) (map (n `div`) (reverse firstHalf)) candidates n = takeWhile (\d -> d * d <= n) [1..n] I ended up adding the filter to secondHalf because a divisor was repeating when n is a square of a prime number. This seems like a very inefficient way to solve this problem. So I have two questions: How do I measure if this really is a bottle neck in my algorithm? And if it is, how do I go about finding a better way to avoid repetitions when n is a square of a prime?

  • Swapping two jQuery draggable list items not working properly (with jsFiddle example)

    - by Tony_Henrich
    The minimalist working example below swaps the two boxes when box 'one' is dragged and dropped on box 'two'. The problem is that when box 'one' is dropped, its style has 'top' & 'left' values causing it to be placed away from where it should drop. Its class includes 'ui-draggable-dragging'. It seems the top & left values are related to the amount the elements were dragged before the drop. And the dragging was 'interrupted' hence the residual 'ui-draggable-dragging' class? What am I missing to make the swap work seamlessly? full jsfiddle example here <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="includes/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="includes/jquery-ui-1.8.2.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.fn.swapWith = function(to) { return this.each(function() { var copy_to = $(to).clone(true); var copy_from = $(this).clone(true); $(to).replaceWith(copy_from); $(this).replaceWith(copy_to); }); }; $(document).ready(function() { options = {revert: true}; $("li").draggable(options) $('#wrapper').droppable({ drop: function(event, ui) { $(ui.draggable).swapWith($('#two')); } }); }); </script> </head> <body> <form> <ul id="wrapper"> <li id='one'> <div style="width: 100px; height: 100px; border: 1px solid green"> one<br /></div> </li> <li id='two'> <div style="width: 110px; height: 110px; border: 1px solid red"> two<br /></div> </li> </ul> <br /> </form> </body> </html>

  • Refreshing a JPA result list which is bound with a jTable

    - by exhuma
    First off, I hage to write this on my mobile. But I'll try to format it properly. In Netbeans I created a jTable and bound it's values to a JPA result set. This works great. The qery contains a param which i set in the pre-create box of the "query result" component. So just before netbeans creates the query result i write this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "1997"); This works fine. Now, I have an event handler which is supposed to change the param and display the new values in the table. So I do this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "2005"); myResultList.clear(); myResultList.addAll(myQuery.getResultList()); jTable1.updateUI(); This works, but it feels wrong to me. Note: the result set is bound to the table. So I was hoping there was something like this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "2005"); myResultList.refresh(); Is there something like this?

  • Pull specific information from a long list with Perl

    - by melignus
    The file that I've got to work with here is the result of an LDAP extraction but I need to ultimately get the information formatted over to something that a spreadsheet can use. So, the data is as follows: DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData displayName: John Doe name: ##userName DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData displayName: Jane Doe name: ##userName DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData DataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataDataData displayName: Ted Doe name: ##userName The format that I need to export to is: firstName lastName userName firstName lastName userName firstName lastName userName Where the spaces are tabs so I can then impor that file into a database. I have experience doing this in VBScript but I'm trying to switch over to using Perl for as much server administration as possible. I'm not sure on the syntax for what I want which is basically while not endoffile{ detect "displayName: " & $firstName & " " & $lastName detect "name: ##" & $userName write $firstName tab $lastName tab $userName to file } Also if someone could point me to a resource specifically on the text parsing syntax that Perl uses, I'd be very grateful. Most of the resources that I've come across haven't been very helpful.

  • List files with two dots in their names using java regular expressions

    - by Nivas
    I was trying to match files in a directory that had two dots in their name, something like theme.default.properties I thought the pattern .\\..\\.. should be the required pattern [. matches any character and \. matches a dot] but it matches both oneTwo.txt and theme.default.properties I tried the following: [resources/themes has two files oneTwo.txt and theme.default.properties] 1. public static void loadThemes() { File themeDirectory = new File("resources/themes"); if(themeDirectory.exists()) { File[] themeFiles = themeDirectory.listFiles(); for(File themeFile : themeFiles) { if(themeFile.getName().matches(".\\..\\..")); { System.out.println(themeFile.getName()); } } } } This prints nothing and the following File[] themeFiles = themeDirectory.listFiles(new FilenameFilter() { public boolean accept(File dir, String name) { return name.matches(".\\..\\.."); } }); for (File file : themeFiles) { System.out.println(file.getName()); } prints both oneTwo.txt theme.default.properties I am unable to find why these two give different results and which pattern I should be using to match two dots... Can someone help?

  • Javascript: Make a static code, dynamic - List of inputs

    - by BoDiE2003
    I have this code, that checks some ids and enable others, the javascript is pretty clear about what it does, but since it corresponds to some specific id ranges, I cant do just a look until it finishes, but I'm looking a way to do this dynamic and save 40 lines of code (or more), since its not the best way. function loopGroup1() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-3_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox1(); }); dynamicCheckbox1(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox1() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable1 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable2 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_2:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-4_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable || doEnable1 || doEnable2) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 2 * * */ function loopGroup2() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-5_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox2(); }); dynamicCheckbox2(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox2() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable3 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-5_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-6_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable3) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 3 * * */ function loopGroup3() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-6_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox3(); }); dynamicCheckbox3(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox3() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable4 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-6_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable5 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-6_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-7_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable4 || doEnable5) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 4 * * */ function loopGroup4() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-9_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox4(); }); dynamicCheckbox4(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox4() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable6 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-9_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable7 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-9_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-10_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable6 || doEnable7) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); };

  • Problem with list slice syntax in python

    - by Dingle
    The extended indexing syntax is mentioned in python's doc. slice([start], stop[, step]) Slice objects are also generated when extended indexing syntax is used. For example: a[start:stop:step] or a[start:stop, i]. See itertools.islice() for an alternate version that returns an iterator. a[start:stop:step] works as described. But what about the second one? How is it used?

  • Loading dictionary for input method suggestion list

    - by jpspringall
    Hi, For various reasons, i'm trying to write my own input keyboard. So far all is going well except that of creating the suggestions. I've found the latinIME algorithm, which is all good. However i'm having major difficulty working out how to load the dictionary in the first place. I've had a good look round the net, and found various suggestions, but no definitive answers, and i cant seem to get any of them to work. If anyone has any suggestions on how best to do it, or even better some sample code, that would be brilliant. Many Thanks James

  • Ordered List of Keyvaluepairs?

    - by boris callens
    Is there an collection in .net that allows the storing KeyValuePair<string, string> that keeps the order of inserting? OrderedDictionary looked promising, but seems to be rather lacking. Now I'm looking into IOrderedEnumerable, but I can't seem to find any implementation except for ISortedDictionary, but that's not what I want. No sorting needs to be done, just the order of inserting is important.

  • Export Sharepoint 2007 Custom List as RSS File

    - by matt
    Here's our scenario: We've created a sharepoint 2007 calendar on our intranet site We want to run a daily job to export a subset of the events to an rss file Another job will move the rss file to our public web site We have some funny restrictions where we can't simply publish the rss feed to the public. We have to go this export route. I'm not clear on how to accomplish step 2. Ideally, we wouldn't have to write a lot of custom code to accomplish this. Thanks.
