  • Are reference attributes destroyed when class is destroyed in C++?

    - by Genba
Suppose I have a C++ class with an attribute that is a reference: class ClassB { ClassA &ref; public: ClassB(ClassA &_ref); } Of course, the constructor is defined this way: ClassB::ClassB(ClassA &_ref) : ref(_ref) { /* ... */ } My question is: When an instance of class 'ClassB' is destroyed, is the object referenced by 'ClassB::ref' also destroyed?

  • WPF: Notify visualParent when its children changed their size

    - by minaevs
I have FrameworkElement, for example Grid, that has children(Cells, implemented in another control). When main Window changes size, i handle sizeChanged in Grid at first, and after that in some of its children. How can i get notify that all children sizeChanged events finished processing? Of course, i can raise other event in child sizeChanged and increase some counter, but for some reasons it is not the best decision. Can anyone recommend something? Thanks!

  • When using emacs do you rebind caps-lock to CTRL?

    - by Wayne Werner
This question is, as indicated, for those who use Emacs. When you do, do you rebind the caps-lock key to CTRL, or do you use the "normal" ctrl key? I've recently learned some Emacs commands and was using the Visual Studio 2008 emacs commands for a while, and of course I used a caps-rebind tool, but I'm curious how many other people do. On a side note, the emacs bindings for VS are severely incomplete :(

  • Are there any free tools for building AIR applications?

    - by rspeed
There is an ongoing argument on the web right now about the "openness" of the iPhone OS and Adobe Flash platforms. Adobe's argument is that anyone can build a Flash application without having to worry about being allowed to distribute it. This made me wonder… is it possible to build and distribute an AIR application without giving any money to Adobe (without violating any licenses, of course)? Are any of these tools free? Are any open-source?

  • Shall I bother with QT?

    - by smallb
Guys I study C++ for a second year. Till now I was doing only console app but I think it's a time to start programming in Windows. There are few alternatives and Qt is one of them but I'm also drawn towards pure Windows API - for more power of course. What would you suggest?

  • OpenGL: How to clear only a part of the screen?

    - by Newbie
Is it possible to not clear entire screen when using glClear() function? I need to clear only a part of the screen to save some rendering time, otherwise i would have to redraw half of the screen every frame, even if nothing is happening on the other half. Of course this should be done as quickly (or quickier) as the glClear() is now.

  • Javascript + HTML5 localstorage

    - by Alai
So I'm searching for a good crash course on localstorage and interacting with it in Javascript. I want to build a to-do list webapp with some extra functionality but it would be just for 1 user. I don't want to mess with php/mysql and have the server doing anything. Links to tutorials would be best :-D

  • What is a "context bound" in Scala?

    - by Jesper
One of the new features of Scala 2.8 are context bounds. What is a context bound and where is it useful? Of course I searched first (and found for example this) but I couldn't find any really clear and detailed information.

  • How to search and replace an unprintable character

    - by krzyk
I've a file that was exported from Word and it replaced all quotes with strange unicode characters which aren't correctly displayed in vim. So now I want those characters to be replaced with quotes, but I don't know how to enter this character in :%s/???/'/g The characters look like this: ~U ~R. But of course I can't just mark them with mouse and paste in the command.

  • Web UI for inputting a function from the reals to the reals, such as a probability distribution.

    - by dreeves
I would like a web interface for a user to describe a one-dimensional real-valued function. I'm imagining the user being presented with a blank pair of axes and they can click anywhere to create points that are thick and draggable. Double-clicking a point, let's say, makes it disappear. The actual function should be shown in real time as an interpolation of the user-supplied points. Here's what this looks like implemented in Mathematica (though of course I'm looking for something in javascript):

  • Is it alright to call len() in a loop's conditional statement?

    - by DormoTheNord
In C, it is considered bad practice to call strlen like this: for ( i = 0; strlen ( str ) != foo; i++ ) { // stuff } The reason, of course, is that it is inefficient since it "counts" the characters in a string multiple times. However, in Python, I see code like this quite often: for i in range ( 0, len ( list ) ): # stuff Is this bad practice? Should I store the result of len() in a variable and use that?

  • How to login users that are stored within a Wordpress account

    - by user3716795
I am developing an iOS app that is password protected and all the users are stored in a wordpress account that, of course, is password protected as well. Does anybody know the format that wordpress uses to store login information for these accounts, I would assume that it is a MySQL that sends a json? I have only been able to find the database code for the initial admin page but nothing that shows the way these accounts (815 to be exact) would be stored within the site.

  • Creating the same event for 2 different elements in jQuery (not for each one, for both!)

    - by danfromisrael
Hey guys, I'd like to create a toggle event for 2 different TD's in my table row. the event should show / hide the next table row. <table> <tr> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td class="clickable1">6</td> <td class="clickable2">7</td> </tr> <tr><td>this row should be toggled between show/hide once one of the clickable TDs were clicked</td></tr> </table> here's the code i tried to apply but it has applied each one of the classes the event: $('.clickable1,.clickable2').toggle(function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .show(); }, function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .hide(); }); One more thing: i'm applying on each TR a css hover psuedo class. how can i make the two TRs to be highlighted (like hover effect on two of them) ? Thanks in advanced! :-Dan

  • How do i provide a custom session ID getter/setter in asp.net

    - by Monsters
I want to pass the sessionID as a json parameter, I can see how to override SessionIDManager and such, but this just covers custom creation/validation of sessionID's as opposed to where it actually gets the sessionID from. There is of course 'cookieless' which puts it in the url, but that doesn't work for me either. So i'd like to override the session handling so I can specify where it should look for the sessionID.

  • Samples of Scala and Java code where Scala code looks simpler/has less lines?

    - by Roman
I need some code samples (and I also really curious about them) of Scala and Java code which show that Scala code is more simple and concise then code written in Java (of course both samples should solve the same problem). If there is only Scala sample with comment like "this is abstract factory in Scala, in Java it will look much more cumbersome" then this is also acceptable. Thanks!

  • Is there a better alternative to the Mongo shell?

    - by afvasd
Dear Everyone, Is there a better shell than the native mongo shell? When I press UP I am seeing ^[[A . Does the shell not support last query? Tabbing in the shell does not autocomplete either. Of course, if there's a shell with syntax highlighting that would be great Is there an alternative that has the following features? (Or at least has some of them).
