  • Automatically generate table of function pointers in C.

    I'm looking for a way to automatically (as part of the compilation/build process) generate a "table" of function pointers in C. Specifically, I want to generate an array of structures something like: typedef struct { void (*p_func)(void); char * funcName; } funcRecord; /* Automatically generate the lines below: */ extern void func1(void); extern void func2(void); /* ... */ funcRecord funcTable[] = { { .p_func = &func1, .funcName = "func1" }, { .p_func = &func2, .funcName = "func2" } /* ... */ }; /* End automatically-generated code. */ ...where func1 and func2 are defined in other source files. So, given a set of source files, each of which which contain a single function that takes no arguments and returns void, how would one automatically (as part of the build process) generate an array like the one above that contains each of the functions from the files? I'd like to be able to add new files and have them automatically inserted into the table when I re-compile. I realize that this probably isn't achievable using the C language or preprocessor alone, so consider any common *nix-style tools fair game (e.g. make, perl, shell scripts (if you have to)). But Why? You're probably wondering why anyone would want to do this. I'm creating a small test framework for a library of common mathematical routines. Under this framework, there will be many small "test cases," each of which has only a few lines of code that will exercise each math function. I'd like each test case to live in its own source file as a short function. All of the test cases will get built into a single executable, and the test case(s) to be run can be specified on the command line when invoking the executable. The main() function will search through the table and, if it finds a match, jump to the test case function. Automating the process of building up the "catalog" of test cases ensures that test cases don't get left out (for instance, because someone forgets to add it to the table) and makes it very simple for maintainers to add new test cases in the future (just create a new source file in the correct directory, for instance).     Since PHP has no custom-class type-casting, how would I go about doing the PHP equivalent of this Java code: CustomBaseObject cusBaseObject = cusBaseObjectDao.readCustomBaseObjectById(id); ((CustomChildObject) cusBaseObject).setChildAttribute1(value1); ((CustomChildObject) cusBaseObject).setChildAttribute2(value2); In my case, it would very nice if I could do this. In the servlet side, i get the following output in the tomcat logs: Inside Doget. inside getNextMessage. AddedObserver. After i type a message in the applet, and send it, I get the foll output in java console: Trying to send msg :you deR?? Message sent! But in servlet side, I dont get anything in the logs. I used the O'Reily Java Servlet Programming as reference(The observer interface comes from there). But I am not getting any chat communication between two clients. As can be understood from the logs, the POST method is not called. Any reason for this?

  • Authlogic openid: getting undefined method openid_identifier? error in functional test

    I use Authlogic with the Authlogic-openid addon (I gem installed ruby- openid and script/plugin install git://github.com/rails/open_id_authentication.git) and get two errors. First when running functional test, I get an undefined method openid_identifier? message on a line in my new.html.erb file when running the UsersControllerTest. The line is: <% if @user.openid_identifier? %> When running script/console I can access this method without any problem.   • Need help manipulating WAV (RIFF) Files at a byte level

    I'm writing an an application in C# that will record audio files (*.wav) and automatically tag and name them. Wave files are RIFF files (like AVI) which can contain meta data chunks in addition to the waveform data chunks. So now I'm trying to figure out how to read and write the RIFF meta data to and from recorded wave files. I'm using NAudio for recording the files, and asked on their forums as well on SO for way to read and write RIFF tags. While I received a number of good answers, none of the solutions allowed for reading and writing RIFF chunks as easily as I would like. But more importantly I have very little experience dealing with files at a byte level, and think this could be a good opportunity to learn. So now I want to try writing my own class(es) that can read in a RIFF file and allow meta data to be read, and written from the file. I've used streams in C#, but always with the entire stream at once. So now I'm little lost that I have to consider a file byte by byte. Specifically how would I go about removing or inserting bytes to and from the middle of a file? I've tried reading a file through a FileStream into a byte array (byte[]) as shown in the code below. System.IO.FileStream waveFileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(@"C:\sound.wav"); byte[] waveBytes = new byte[waveFileStream.Length]; waveFileStream.Read(waveBytes, 0, waveBytes.Length); And I could see through the Visual Studio debugger that the first four byte are the RIFF header of the file. But arrays are a pain to deal with when performing actions that change their size like inserting or removing values. So I was thinking I could then to the byte[] into a List like this. List<byte> list = waveBytes.ToList<byte>(); Which would make any manipulation of the file byte by byte a whole lot easier, but I'm worried I might be missing something like a class in the System.IO name-space that would make all this even easier. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way to do this? I should also mention that I'm not hugely concerned with performance, and would prefer not to deal with pointers or unsafe code blocks like this guy.   • Global Entity Framework Context in WPF Application

    Good day, I am in the middle of development of a WPF application that is using Entity Framework (.NET 3.5). It accesses the entities in several places throughout. I am worried about consistency throughout the application in regard to the entities. Should I be instancing separate contexts in my different views, or should I (and is a a good way to do this) instance a single context that can be accessed globally? For instance, my entity model has three sections, Shipments (with child packages and further child contents), Companies/Contacts (with child addresses and telephones), and disk specs. The Shipments and EditShipment views access the DiskSpecs, and the OptionsView manages the DiskSpecs (Create, Edit, Delete). If I edit a DiskSpec, I have to have something in the ShipmentsView to retrieve the latest specs if I have separate contexts right? If it is safe to have one overall context from which the rest of the app retrieves it's objects, then I imagine that is the way to go. If so, where would that instance be put? I am using VB.NET, but I can translate from C# pretty good. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't want one of those applications where the user has to hit reload a dozen times in different parts of the app to get the new data. Update: OK so I have changed my app as follows: All contexts are created in Using Blocks to dispose of them after they are no longer needed. When loaded, all entities are detatched from context before it is disposed. A new property in the MainViewModel (ContextUpdated) raises an event that all of the other ViewModels subscribe to which runs that ViewModels RefreshEntities method. After implementing this, I started getting errors saying that an entity can only be referenced by one ChangeTracker at a time. Since I could not figure out which context was still referencing the entity (shouldn't be any context right?) I cast the object as IEntityWithChangeTracker, and set SetChangeTracker to nothing (Null). This has let to the current problem: When I Null the changeTracker on the Entity, and then attach it to a context, it loses it's changed state and does not get updated to the database. However if I do not null the change tracker, I can't attach. I have my own change tracking code, so that is not a problem. My new question is, how are you supposed to do this. A good example Entity query and entity save code snipped would go a long way, cause I am beating my head in trying to get what I once thought was a simple transaction to work. Any help would elevate you to near god-hood.

    So I'm trying to display an image that is ouside the path of my application. I only have a relative image path such as "images/background.png" but my images are somewhere else, I might want to choose that base location at runtime so that the binding maps to the proper folder. Such as "e:\data\images\background.png" or "e:\data\theme\images\background.png" <Image Source="{Binding Path=ImagePathWithRelativePath}"/> Is there any way to specify either in XAML or code behind a base directory for those images?

    In my code I'm attempting to use a transaction using TransactionScope with Entity Framework. While in this transaction we are opening a regular SQL connection to a seperate server and database. When the conn.Open() is called we get an Error: "Network access for Distributed Transaction Manager (MSDTC) has been disabled. Please enable DTC for network access in the security configuration for MSDTC using the Componet Services Administrative tool." However, MSDTC is enabled and running on the Server.

  • Get HDD (and NOT Volume) Serial Number on Vista Ultimate 64 bit

    Hi all. I was once looking for getting the HDD serial number without using WMI, and I found it. The code I found and posted on StackOverFlow.com works very well on 32 bit Windows, both XP and Vista. The trouble only begins when I try to get the serail number on 64 bit OSs (Vista Ultimate 64, specifically). The code returns String.Empty, or a Space all the time. Anyone got an idea how to fix this?     I have an application where I would like to exchange information, managed via Core Data, between two iPhones. First turning the Core Data object to an NSDictionary (something very simple that gets turned into NSData to be transferred). My CoreData has 3 string attributes, 2 image attributes that are transformables. I have looked through the NSDictionary API but have not had any luck with it, creating or adding the CoreData information to it. Any help or sample code regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
