  • What's an appropriate HTTP status code to return by a REST API service for a validation failure?

    I'm currently returning 401 Unauthorized whenever I encounter a validation failure in my Django/Piston based REST API application. Having had a look at the HTTP Status Code Registry I'm not convinced that this is an appropriate code for a validation failure, what do y'all recommend? 400 Bad Request 401 Unauthorized 403 Forbidden 405 Method Not Allowed 406 Not Acceptable 412 Precondition Failed 417 Expectation Failed 422 Unprocessable Entity 424 Failed Dependency Update: "Validation failure" above means an application level data validation failure ie. incorrectly specified datetime, bogus email address etc.

    hi all ,i just want to knw,is there any boundations in xml parsing with characters like can we parse a word containing some characters like "frühe" containing "ü" "böser" containing "ö" while i am parsing my xml,which is few different languages, some characters are like the above. and wen i saw in console, it get interpted,exaactly wen it reacher "ü" becoz at console it prints "fr" so can someone provide me some ideas about this thing regards shishir

    I have a database containing multiple tables (Person, Parents, etc) Person table has certain attributes particularly ssn, countryofbirth and currentcountry. Parents table has ssn, and fathersbirthcountry I'm trying to output the SSNs of all people who have the same countryofbirth as their fathersbirthcountry and also have same currentcountry as fathersbirthcountry. SELECT Person.ssn FROM Person, Parents WHERE fathersbirthcountry = countryofbirth AND currentcountry = fathersbirthcountry; the above doesn't seem to be working, could anyone please help me out?

    Hi there, I need to develop an application for Blackberry Java SDK 4.2.1 and above. I'm currently under Eclipse Classic 3.5, and I have installed the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse v1.1, with all the Blackberry Java SDK available, versions 4.5 to 5.0. Unfortunately, there isn't any SDK available under 4.5. Is anyone know how to solve this problem? I mean, developing for Blackberry Java SDK 4.2.1 with Eclipse IDE. Thank you.

This question has been asked on SO, but essentially recommends running OpenOffice in headless X server, which was an absolute pain last time I used it. (Mostly due to hard to replicate bugs due to OO crashing.) Is there any other way, (Hopefully using Linux CLI utilities only, and pure Python above them?)

But I need to find and remove (unset) all keys where "basename" is null AND where child isn't an array or where the array is empty. Can anyone help me out and possibly tweak the function above?     Is it possible to have a vb.net program sound the PC's internal speaker? you know the one that produces C's \a BELL I have tried beep(), but this only produces the error sound on the sound card.     I'm trying to add a range of - 365 days and + 365 days but it appears that using this attribute in EL 4.1 only accepts a special ISO formatted string ... thus I can't simply add a normal string to this validation routine. <DateTimeRangeValidator(DateTime.Now.AddDays(2), DateTime.Now.AddDays(4))> _ I wanted to do something similar to the above - fyi Does anyone know how you can force this attribute to accept this ISO formatted string w/out hand coding this value?

    In the project I am working I have deployed a SOAP server using Deployment Descriptors (WSDD) files. To do that a webserver (e.g tomcat, jetty) is started and then the following command is executed: java -cp %AXISCLASSPATH% org.apache.axis.client.AdminClient deploy.wsdd What I need is to skip the above command to avoid a call to the Axis AdminClient. Is it possible to deploy my webservice as war file? Note: A solution with JWS can't be used due to its limitations.
