  • java updating text area

    - by n0ob
for my application I have to build a little customized time ticker which ticks over after whatever delay I tell it to and writes the new value in my textArea. The problem is that the ticker is running fully until the termination time and then printing all the values. How can I make the text area change while the code is running. while(tick<terminationTime){ if ((System.currentTimeMillis()) > (msNow + delay)){ msNow = System.currentTimeMillis(); tick = tick + 1; currentTime.setText(""+tick); sourceTextArea.append(""+tick+" " + System.currentTimeMillis() +" \n"); } currentTime and sourceTextArea are both text areas and both are getting updated after the while loop ends.

  • How to refresh an activity? Map View refresh fails

    - by poeschlorn
Hi Guys, after implementing some Android Apps, including several Map activities, I try to refresh the activity when the GPS listener's onLocationChanged() mehtod is called. I have no idea how to tell the map activity to refresh on its own and display the new coords... the coords to store will have to be in global values, so that the location listener will have access to it. In my sample GPS-class (see code below) I just changed the text of a text view....but how to do that in map view? private class MyLocationListener implements LocationListener { @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location loc) { final TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.myTextView); if (loc != null) { tv.setText("Location changed : Lat: " + loc.getLatitude() + " Lng: " + loc.getLongitude()); } } I think the solution of this Problem won't be very difficult, but I just need the beginning ;-) This whole app shall work like a really simple navigation system. It would be great if someone could help me a little bit further :) nice greetings, Poeschlorn

  • Java - SwingWorker - problem in done() method

    - by Yatendra Goel
I am using javax.swing.SwingWorker for the first time. I want to update a JLabel from the interim result published by the swing worker as follows: publish("Published String"); Now to update the JLabel, I have coded the following: process(List<String> chunks) { if (chunks.size() > 0) { String text = chunks.get(chunks.size() - 1); label.setText(text); } } The above code works but my problem(or to be more specific, my doubt) is as follows: The above swing worker task is an annonymous inner class so it can access label field. But what if I want to make the swing worker class a non-inner class. Should I need to pass label as an argument to the constructor of swing worker class so that the process() method can access. Or Is there any other way? What approach does other developer follow to update UI components from the swing worker class' result when the swing worker class is not an inner class?

  • Caching issues with TDBadgedCell

    - by Wolfgang Schreurs
This post is closely related to my previous post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2201256/tdbadgedcell-keeps-caching-the-badgenumber The "badge" from TDBadgedCell keeps caching the numbers. A very simple example is shown here: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)_tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; TDBadgedCell *cell = (TDBadgedCell *)[_tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[TDBadgedCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; [cell setAccessoryType:UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator]; } [cell setBadgeColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [cell setBadgeNumber:[indexPath row]]; [[cell textLabel] setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:%@"%d", [indexPath row]]]; return cell; } Anyone has any clue why this happens? The textLabel and detailTextLabel don't cache the data. Any additonal info would be welcome as well, as I seem to have a lot of issues with the caching of graphics in UITableViewCells. Any best practices or other useful information would be most welcome.

  • In Android ListActivity, how do you apply layout formatting to footers?

    - by johnrock
    In an Android ListActivity, I am adding a button as a footer in a ListView. How can I apply layout formatting to this button like centering it and/or width=fill_parent? I have tried a few things such as using setLayoutParams(), but have not gotten it to work - the footer always disappears when I try anything. Here is the basic code I am working with closeButton = new Button(this); closeButton.setText(getResources().getString(R.string.title_closeprocess)); closeButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener(){ public void onClick(View v) { closeProcess(); } }); getListView().addFooterView(closeButton);

  • iPhone: App crashes when I click on a cell in table view.

    - by Jack Griffiths
Hi there, Compiling my application works—everything is fine. The only errors I get are by deprecated functions (setText). The only problem is now, is that when I tap on a cell in my table, the app crashes, even though it's meant to push to the next view in the stack. Any solutions are appreciated, if you need any code, just ask. Also, how can I only make sure that one cell goes to only one view? For example: When I tap on CSS, it takes me to a new table with different levels of CSS. WHen I tap on an item in that new view, it comes up with an article on what I just selected. Regards, Jack

  • How to refresh an activity?

  • new line in java

    - by user225269
Java newbie here, I'm having trouble setting a new line in this code: String FnameTextboxText = FnameTextbox.getText(); String LastnameTextboxText = LastnameTextbox.getText(); String CourseTextboxText = CourseTextbox.getText(); Summary.setText("Firstname:" + " " + FnameTextboxText + "\nLastname:" + " " + LastnameTextboxText + "\nCourse:" + " " + CourseTextboxText); Also tried something like: "\n" + "Lastname" But its no good. Do you have any idea on how to make new lines. So that it'll look like this; Firstname: x Lastname: y Course: Z Using netbeans 6.8. On windows.
