WinZip bombed on us while trying to zip a large dataset, and 7zip doesn't have the Encryption feature. Is there a better tool out there?
Thanks,
Bupesh
I'm stuck between ´eVGA GTX 550 Ti 1GB Super OC´ and ´eVGA GTX460 SE 1GB SuperClocked OC´. I know that 460 is better in performance, but does the 550 Ti has any newer feature, which makes it better?
I'll mostly use it for HD movies and HD gaming (skyrim, la noire). Would appreciate opinions about which card is better, and if you have one of these, please provide something useful information.
Thanks.
I recently got a Mac for use at home and really like the feature whereby an app is minimized when you double-click the top of the window. I've gotten so hooked on this behavior that, without thinking about it, I expect it to work on Windows (only to be quickly reminded that it doesn't).
Is there a way to change the way Windows handles the double-clicking of the top of an app's window so that the app window will be minimized to the task bar rather than maximized?
Hey,
I'm running SmokePing to monitor the latency to several machines.
I have been playing around with the multihost feature, allowing me to draw stats of multiple machines in one graph.
However, on the details page, smoke is being drawn as well, resulting in this:
Is there a way to disable this? As it makes the graph pretty much unreadable.
Smoke is enabled for the stats per server, so it's duplicated data here.
I have several ClarisWorks documents (*.CWK) that I'd like to import into a more modern format like Microsoft Word or Open Office. It seems Star Office can apparently open cwk files, but the product is discontinued and cannot be downloaded any more. There has been a feature request to add a cwk importer to OpenOffice since 2002, so I doubt that OpenOffice will support cwk files any time soon.
Are there any utilities that can open a cwk file besides ClarisWorks itself?
3 years ago I created a catalog using InDesign's data merge feature and a 3rd party software called EasyCatalog. It wasn't a great success. Has anyone used data merge in InDesign or a catalog building software to produce a print catalog?
Is there a hidden setting or an external utility that would enable moving windows on Windows like on GNOME?
I'm particularly thinking of moving windows using Alt + Drag and drop (which can be changed to Win + drag and drop).
I have machine with Windows (7) and two big monitors at work, and I tend to use multiple smaller windows. Moving them quickly around is essential, so I'm always missing this GNOME feature.
I thought about using a file deduper but figured that would still show the dupes IN itunes. I really don't care about artwork or the likes. Is using the built in "show dupes" the best option?
The built in "Show Duplicates" feature fails because I have thousands of songs and hundreds of duplicates.
This is a question to enhance the feature on Windows 7, where you drag the screen to one side and it docks to that side of the screen.
Is there a way to have it so when I load a program, it knows that I always like it docked on the right side, so it just loads on the right side? And I don't have to drag it to the right.
It will be done for Internet Explorer, so, if there is no setting on the Shortcut for this, can it be programmed into the browser?
Do you know of a way to download exe files although the web proxy has a filter in place not to allow this?
I have searched for a feature web site that does automatic file renaming. That should certainly make it possible. The solution would take a URL and then change the extension so that it would look to my proxy as I was downloading a .dat file (or similar).
There are perhaps other solutions to this problem.
I have Windows Server 2012 Essentials and I'm trying to set up Anywhere Access so I can remotely access files. This feature was really easy to access in Windows Home Server and I'm trying to duplicate that functionality here.
I've tried going through the Anywhere Access wizard several times but I can't get past the SSL Certificates step. I don't want to purchase a certificate; is there any other way to enable remote file access?
I've been using a spreadsheet to keep track of domain names. Is there a web service anywhere that maintains a domain name database and tracks all the domains we own? The most important feature is that it would have to remind me when it's time to renew, but it would also keep track of all the registrars in my life.
I'm looking for a desktop board that supports either VT-D (Intel) or IOMMU (AMD) technology. This is the IO virtualization technology, not VT-x for CPU virtualization. I've found a list of chipsets that are purported to have this, but every board I look at, the vendor has decided to not support that feature. I would really prefer a desktop board over a server board for this.
Does anyone have a specific model that is known to support this technology?
We're having some issues with Windows 7 Roaming profiles and I was reading here that the login process can be monitored using process monitor.
"There are a couple of ways to configure Process Monitor to record
logon operations: one is to use Sysinternals PsExec to launch it in
the session 0 so that it survives the logoff and subsequent logon and
another is to use the boot logging feature to capture activity from
early in the boot, including the logon."
How does one do either of these options using process monitor to find out what is happening during a user login?
Is it possible to simulate a MAC feature which shows the list of active windows when we move the mouse sideways ?
Also is there is a possiblity to toggle between windows with same title ? like if i have 2-3 chrome open . can i toggle betwen them ?
The title says it all...I upgraded today and can no longer scroll vertically with my touchpad. I'm really missing that feature since it helps to ease the RSI on my right index finger. How do I re-enable it?
Assume I'm working away from the office; its a hotel computer Windows 7, Office 2010 and fast - so the best possible conditions.
Using Companyweb - Every time I open a document, I have to go through the logon process - seems odd to have to do that. Is this a 'by design' feature or is something wrong with my configuration?
When I do open the documents, are they being stored somewhere locally and should I be looking to delete on this computer - or are they in a temporary file?
In my Small Business Server 2003 environment, I would like to be able to have users manage their own delegate permissions for their Exchange mailboxes. By default, the Outlook delegate feature will not work unless I go to the user object in Active Directory and grant Allow on "Write Personal Information" to SELF. This will work temporarily, but something seems to reset this value shortly afterword. What would cause this automatic reset?
Recently Gmail introduced an HTML5-based desktop notification feature for Google Chrome users (see this). It's very useful, however, the notifications disappear too quickly (in about 5 seconds) and I couldn't find a way to change the display time. Ideally, I would like the notification to stay for a few minutes if there is no user activity (or about 15 seconds if there is user activity). Is that possible?
Using Excel 2010, I want a single formula to apply to all cells in a column.
I see documentation for a feature called "Calculated Columns". That is exactly what I want, but when I follow the instructions I only end up creating a formulate in a single cell - not the whole column.
I don't want to use "Fill" or "Copy" because the number or rows in the sheet changes periodically and maintaining the formulas would be very tedious.
I have a home network comprising an Apple iMacs and a Windows 7 PCs - using the internet connection sharing feature on the Windows 7 PC to share the internet connection with the iMac.
I have configured the hostnames on each pc so, running hostname on the Windows 7 box says "windows7" and on the iMac says "apple", but, if I try and "ping apple" from Windows 7 or "ping Windows7" from the iMac they can't resolve.
what do I need to do to get this 'simple' level on connectivity working?
Recently I have bought a second hand HP Notebook from a friend.
The PC still has the recovery partition not backed up yet. However, I'm thinking of resetting Windows using the new Windows 8 resetting feature.
Windows warned me that all files will be deleted.
Is it okay to reset Windows then backup the recovery partition in order to have a fresh backup or this can lead to losing the recovery partition and, with it, my genuine copy of Windows 8?
Consider that there are two server load balancers working in the tcp proxy mode (e.g., for L7 load balancing). Is it possible to synchronize their states in real time so that they can be a backup for each other? in case that one is down, the other still has all necessary states to uninterruptedly support all existing TCP connections.
I understand that this is hard, but I am wondering whether any free/commercial LB already supports this feature.
Thank you!
Is there an excel feature that enables you to create a link to a different part of a sheet so you don't have to scroll down ... wherever, to get there ?
I have about 2000 tables in one sheet, and some "table of contents" listing all the tables. I'd like to create a link from the table of contents to the appropriate table (it's all within the same sheet).
Is something like that possible ?
