  • Algorithm for dividing very large numbers

    - by pocoa
I need to write an algorithm(I cannot use any 3rd party library, because this is an assignment) to divide(integer division, floating parts are not important) very large numbers like 100 - 1000 digits. I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier_division algorithm but I don't know if it's the right way to go. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Rails - Clearance engine - installation issue

    - by Elliot
Hey Everyone, The installation for clearance seems very straight forward (http://wiki.github.com/thoughtbot/clearance/installation). I'm following in the instructions, although I'm getting an error almost immediately. On the the fifth step "rake db:migrate" I get the following error: rake aborted! undefined method `configure' for Clearance:Module I have no idea what I should be doing differently? Thanks in advance! -Elliot

  • Can MKS Integrity integrate with other source control tools? (SVN, Git...)

    - by bnsmith
My boss is interested in using MKS Integrity for bug tracking, feature requests, Wiki documentation and so on. However, we currently use Subversion, and he doesn't want to force us devs to use a version control system that we don't like. Is is possible to integrate a different version control program into MKS Integrity? I'm particularly interested in SVN, Git, Mercurial and Bazaar. If you've tried mixing tools like this before, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

  • Where is the VM in LLVM?

    - by anon
Note: marked as community wiki. Where is the Low Level Virtual Machine in LLVM? I see that we have llvm-g++ and c-lang, but to me, a LLVM is something almost like Valgrind of a simulator, where instructions are executed on it, and I can write programs to instrument the running code / interrupt when certain conditions happen / etc ... Where are the tools like this built on LLVM? Thanks!

  • Re-designing 37signals paths to be hosted under a single domain

    - by Victor P
37signals is a web app company. Some of their applications: basecamp, to manage projects highrise, to manage contacts backpack, like a wiki they use different domains for each application (basecamphq.com, highrisehq.com, etc) in basecamp, this is the address of a particular comment for a post in a project of my company (acme) https://acme.basecamphq.com/projects/431678/posts/2964581/comments#5854236 if 37signals had chosen to host all the applications under their domain using folders (eg 37signals.com/basecamp/..., how would you design the paths?

  • Upload a Photo to Facebook with REST API and Ruby

    - by Michael Waxman
It's much harder than you'd think: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Photos.upload The tricky part is how to create the MIME multi-part message in Rails, which Facebook requires. I'm also using a Ruby Facebook API gem (mini_fb) which signs my other requests, and in addition to having no idea how to set up the MIME multi-part, even if I did I'm not sure how to add in the required signature values with the gem. Please help!

  • Adobe Flex 4.0 vs Silverlight 4.0

    - by Jason Towne
While this not necessarily a technical question, I believe it will help a lot of developers (including myself!). With Silverlight 4.0 and Flex 4.0 both in beta, I thought I would put out an open question to the community and see what everyone likes and dislikes about each framework and why. I've worked with Flex in the past but have decided to take another look at Silverlight with the new version being released. Thoughts anyone? Edit: Made it a community wiki. :)

  • How to secure an AJAX call from a facebook canvas application.

    - by user259349
Reading this Ajax example, http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/FBJS/Examples/Ajax#Working_Example I found the following line. I'm not sure what to understand out of it, how do you "check the sig values per Platform spec"? "Note: For brevity's sake we are trusting $_POST['fb_sig_user'] without checking the full signature. This is unsafe as anyone could easily forge a user's action. Always be sure to either use the Facebook object which is supplied with the client libraries, or check the sig values per Platform spec"

  • Is there a web application equivalent of Hypercard?

    - by Gabriel Cuvillier
Recently, I found an interesting Wiki/CMS/Database hybrid called Wagn, where the most important unit of information is the 'Card'. That terminology immediately made me think of Hypercard. As expected, there is some "Hypercard-ness" in that application. Do you know of other web applications/frameworks with that "Hypercard-ness" thing, or if its successor still must be invented? Note: I insist on web applications because I already know the desktop ones.

    - by Rahul Soni
I checked wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_(development) But I am still looking for some insight from the genius minds using SO. - by michael
Hi, I have followed the following instructions in setting a git repository locally in one of my hard drive (1): https://trac.webkit.org/wiki/UsingGitWithWebKit I would like to know if it is possible for me to set up another repository in a different hard drive which mirrors the one I setup in (1)? By mirrors, I mean if I commit some changes the other repository can retrieve it. Thank you.

I recently learned a lot about MVC design pattern which is a very interesting concept. I would assume there are a lot more design patterns out there, and I thought it would be great for people to share some. Here's my contribution, MVC design pattern: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model%E2%80%93view%E2%80%93controller
