I have an intranet server running on a Windows XP computer and the internet connection on it has been known to be pretty unreliable (surprise, surprise) so I was wondering if there was a way to use an AppleScript to poll it every hour or so to see if it is up and running and if it isn't, execute something, like send myself an email.
Thanks in advance!
Currently I want to develop one Activity to allow the user to see the screens/activites of all running tasks , then the user can select one of them to switch it to foreground. As I known, HTC Sence seems already to have this implementation for Home screen, to display the thumbnail of all Home panels in one screen. Does anybody know how to access screen stack in Android? Thanks.

I already known eudict and stardict. Could you recommend some other free or open source dictionaries cover one or more above languages?
In light of the "Hidden features of..." series of questions, what little-known features of PL/SQL have become useful to you?
Edit: Features specific to PL/SQL are preferred over features of Oracle's SQL syntax. However, because PL/SQL can use most of Oracle's SQL constructs, they may be included if they make programming in PL/SQL easier.
Some of the testing I will need to do will require comparing a known array with the result I am getting from the functions I will be running.
For comparing arrays recursively:
Does PHPUnit have an inbuilt function?
Does someone here have some code they have constructed to share?
Will this be something I will have to construct on my own?
I have two to three domains under a single glassfish installation.
Is there a known way to customize admin console login page based on the domain I am trying to administrator? (host/port)
The catch is you have no SNMP access, not even public.
The end vision is locate a PC in building easily even if PC's are moved around.
The MAC address of the PC is known and the software would run as client on each desktop, reporting back which port the PC was plugged into.
Well, in a non-static method I could use this.GetType() and it would return the Type. How can I get the same Type in a static method? Of course, I can't just write typeof(ThisTypeName) because ThisTypeName is known only in the runtime. Thanks!
I notice several well-known projects in java that were ported to C# .NET. Some examples:
Hibernate - NHibernate
JUnit -- NUnit
Ant -- NAnt
Lucene -- Lucene.Net, NLucene
iText -- iTextSharp
log4j -- log4net
Quartz -- Quartz.NET
I was curious about the reverse situation: what are the notable .NET projects that have been ported to the java world?
I looked at the list of projects at http://csharp-source.net but didn't see any obvious ones.
Hello,
I'm using the CKEditor 3.1, and find that whereever there is a box on the page, the ckeditor causes a new empty select box to appear next to it (although it has not been applied to that specific element.)
This seems to be a known issue : http://dev.fckeditor.net/ticket/4528
Has anyone been able to get around that?
Is there any other good fckeditors you can suggest?
Thanks!
The google search ajax api is terrific, and the .net wrapper available on codeplex makes using it from a .net project very simple. However, the api itself is crippled so that it only returns 64 results per query. Not very useful for many applications.
Ignoring the likely TOS problems, are there known .net libraries that can query the root google website and scrape the results into a resultset? I'm assuming this could result in much larger result counts than the ajax version enabled.
It's a known problem that the older Bootstrap didn't work out of the box with jQuery UI, as you can see from this github discussion.
There are a few mashups of the two, including jQuery Bootstrap by John Seigers and jQuery UI Bootstrap by Addy Osmani.
Are those mashups still necessary with the new version of Bootstrap, or can you now just use Bootstrap and jQuery UI out of the box (as is alluded to vaguely in the github discussion)?
Our application uses a topic to push message to a small set of subscribers. what sort of things should i look for when modeling a jms message with respect to the size of the actual message to be pushed. Are there any known limits or is application server specific? Any best practices or suggestions on this topic (pun unintended)?
What does Error 3112 indicate when compacting an MDB file?
The Error description is "Records can't be read; no read permission on 'xyz123.mdb'"
There is a known issue with the Compact function on some versions of Access MDBs. Is the solution in this case to run the Microsoft utility JETCOMP.EXE on this file?
What are the other possible causes of this error?
From wiki: In computing, just-in-time compilation (JIT), also known as dynamic translation, is a technique for improving the runtime performance of a computer program.
So I guess JVM has another compiler, not javac, that only compiles bytecode to machine code at runtime, while javac compiles sources to bytecode,is that right?
It is well known that cin is not typesafe (e.g. cin integer; and entering "fifty five" will cause it to flip out). I have seen many not-so-elegant ways to hand this, such as getlining a string and using sstream to convert it to a number, or looping with cin.fail() and clearing the stream and reentering it, etc. Is there any library or anyway to overload the inserter operator to make cin automatically typesafe?
I'm working with Windows Forms designer. It serializes properties of type Color as known name whenever possible. I need it to serialize such properties always as RGB, because I need it later for interop with other system, which can deserialize only from RGB values.
Is there a way to serialize Color properties always as RGB values?
I have a group of geometries stored in MySQl (as polygon and as well-known text) representing counties.
I can build a table of geometries and color codes after querying some county data (say GDP per capita).
What is the best way to export this as an SVG map? I cannot find any reference to SVG conversion in the MySQL documentation.
In .NET there are 8 bytes of overheard for each object. 4 bytes are a pointer to the object's type. What are the other 4 bytes, known as the object header, used for?
I have an XML based file format that I'm using to store and load instances of objects. I'm interested in adding some scripting support to those objects so that they can respond to events.
That said, I also don't want to cripple performance. Are there any well known scripting options for Android - maybe even ones where while loading, I can pre-compile and cache the scripts?
hi all
I'm looking for Duwamish sample for .Net framework 4.0. But it seems that project needs .Net framework V1.1 SDK. What are your suggestion?
Are there any other complete and known project running with .net framework 4.0?
Hi,
what test data approach/framework is recommended for .net unit testing? I'm in VS2010, C#, doing business logic layer testing.
By approaches I mean like: creating database snapshots, programmatically creating each time, etc etc. Like what approach to use to ensure at the start of each test the database is in a known state.
