  • Case insensitive string compare in LINQ-to-SQL

    - by BlueMonkMN
I've read that it's unwise to use ToUpper and ToLower to perform case-insensitive string comparisons, but I see no alternative when it comes to LINQ-to-SQL. The ignoreCase and CompareOptions arguments of String.Compare are ignored by LINQ-to-SQL (if you're using a case-sensitive database, you get a case-sensitive comparison even if you ask for a case-insensitive comparison). Is ToLower or ToUpper the best option here? Is one better than the other? I thought I read somewhere that ToUpper was better, but I don't know if that applies here. (I'm doing a lot of code reviews and everyone is using ToLower.) Dim s = From row In context.Table Where String.Compare(row.Name, "test", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) = 0 This translates to an SQL query that simply compares row.Name with "test" and will not return "Test" and "TEST" on a case-sensitive database.

  • A problem with assertRaises function in Python

    - by anton.k.
Hello, guys! I am trying to run the following test self.assertRaises(Exception, lambda: unit_test.testBasic()) where test.testBasic() is class IsPrimeTest(unittest.TestCase): def assertRaises(self, exception, callable,*args,**kwargs): print('dfdf') temp = callable super().assertRaises(exception,temp,*args,**kwargs) def testBasic_helper(self): self.failIf(is_prime(2)) self.assertTrue(is_prime(1)) where prime is a function, and but in self.assertRaises(Exception, lambda: unit_test.testBasic()) the lambda function doesnt throws an exception after the test def testBasic_helper(self): self.failIf(is_prime(2)) self.assertTrue(is_prime(1)) fails Can somebody offers a solution to the problem?

  • Can only access asp.net app on localhost

    - by Kevin Donn
I'm trying to get an asp.net application up on IIS on a Windows Server 2008 machine. I can hit the app from localhost, no problem. But I can't access the app using the server's domain name either locally or from another machine on the network. But here's the odd part. I can access a normal file on IIS using the domain name, both from a browser running on the server and from a browser running on another machine on the network. Here's a synopsis ("http" converted to "htp" below because I don't have enough points to have all these links in my message): From IE on the server itself: works htp://localhost/foo.htm works htp://localhost/App works htp://test.foo.com/foo.htm dead htp://test.foo.com/App From IE on another machine: works htp://test.foo.com/foo.htm dead htp://test.foo.com/App And when I say "dead" I mean the request times out. Any ideas?

  • numpy calling sse2 via ctypes

    - by Daniel
    Hello, In brief, I am trying to call into a shared library from python, more specifically, from numpy. The shared library is implemented in C using sse2 instructions. Enabling optimisation, i.e. building the library with -O2 or –O1, I am facing strange segfaults when calling into the shared library via ctypes. Disabling optimisation (-O0), everything works out as expected, as is the case when linking the library to a c-program directly (optimised or not). Attached you find a snipped which exhibits the delineated behaviour on my system. With optimisation enabled, gdb reports a segfault in __builtin_ia32_loadupd (__P) at emmintrin.h:113. The value of __P is reported as optimised out. test.c: #include <emmintrin.h> #include <complex.h> void test(const int m, const double* x, double complex* y) { int i; __m128d _f, _x, _b; double complex f __attribute__( (aligned(16)) ); double complex b __attribute__( (aligned(16)) ); __m128d* _p; b = 1; _b = _mm_loadu_pd( (double *) &b ); _p = (__m128d*) y; for(i=0; i<m; ++i) { f = cexp(-I*x[i]); _f = _mm_loadu_pd( (double *) &f ); _x = _mm_loadu_pd( (double *) &x[i] ); _f = _mm_shuffle_pd(_f, _f, 1); *_p = _mm_add_pd(*_p, _f); *_p = _mm_add_pd(*_p, _x); *_p = _mm_mul_pd(*_p,_b); _p++; } return; } Compiler flags: gcc -o libtest.so -shared -std=c99 -msse2 -fPIC -O2 -g -lm test.c test.py: import numpy as np import os def zerovec_aligned(nr, dtype=np.float64, boundary=16): '''Create an aligned array of zeros. ''' size = nr * np.dtype(dtype).itemsize tmp = np.zeros(size + boundary, dtype=np.uint8) address = tmp.__array_interface__['data'][0] offset = boundary - address % boundary return tmp[offset:offset + size].view(dtype=dtype) lib = np.ctypeslib.load_library('libtest', '.' ) lib.test.restype = None lib.test.argtypes = [np.ctypeslib.ctypes.c_int, np.ctypeslib.ndpointer(np.float64, flags=('C', 'A') ), np.ctypeslib.ndpointer(np.complex128, flags=('C', 'A', 'W') )] n = 13 y = zerovec_aligned(n, dtype=np.complex128) x = np.ones(n, dtype=np.float64) # x = zerovec_aligned(n, dtype=np.float64) # x[:] = 1. lib.test(n,x,y) My system: Ubuntu Linux i686 2.6.31-22-generic Compiler: gcc (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu9) Python: Python 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Dec 7 2009, 18:45:15) [GCC 4.4.1] Numpy: 1.4.0 I have taken provisions (cf. python code) that y is aligned and the alignment of x should not matter (I think; explicitly aligning x does not solve the problem though). Note also that i use _mm_loadu_pd instead of _mm_load_pd when loading b and f. For the C-only version _mm_load_pd works (as expected). However, when calling the function via ctypes using _mm_load_pd always segfaults (independent of optimisation). I have tried several days to sort out this issue without success ... and I am on the verge beating my monitor to death. Any input welcome. Daniel

  • assistance with classifying tests

    - by amateur
I have a .net c# library that I have created that I am currently creating some unit tests for. I am at present writing unit tests for a cache provider class that I have created. Being new to writing unit tests I have 2 questions These being: My cache provider class is the abstraction layer to my distributed cache - AppFabric. So to test aspects of my cache provider class such as adding to appfabric cache, removing from cache etc involves communicating with appfabric. Therefore the tests to test for such, are they still categorised as unit tests or integration tests? The above methods I am testing due to interacting with appfabric, I would like to time such methods. If they take longer than a specified benchmark, the tests have failed. Again I ask the question, can this performance benchmark test be classifed as a unit test? The way I have my tests set up I want to include all unit tests together, integration tests together etc, therefore I ask these questions that I would appreciate input on.

  • Why Date Format in ASP NET MVC Differs when used inside Html Helper?

    - by Marcio Gabe
Hi, I just came across a very interesting issue. If I use ViewData to pass a DateTime value to the view and then display it inside a textbox, even though I'm using String.Format in the exact same manner, I get different formatting results when using the Html.TextBox helper. <%= Html.TextBox("datefilter", String.Format("{0:d}", ViewData["datefilter"]))%> <input id="test" name="test" type="text" value="<%: String.Format("{0:d}", ViewData["datefilter"]) %>" /> The above code renders the following html: <input id="datefilter" name="datefilter" type="text" value="2010-06-18" /> <input id="test" name="test" type="text" value="18/06/2010" /> Notice how the fist line that uses the Html helper produces the date format in one way while the second one produces a very different output. Any ideas why? Note: I'm currently in Brazil, so the standard short date format here is dd/MM/yyyy.

  • Boost Unit testing memory reuse causing tests that should fail to pass

    - by Knyphe
We have started using the boost unit testing library for a large existing code base, and I have run into some trouble with unit tests incorrectly passing, seemingly due to the reuse of memory on the stack. Here is my situation: BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(test_select_base_instantiation_default) { SelectBase selectBase(); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getSelectType(), false); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getTypeName(_T("")); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getEntityType(), -1); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getDataPos(), -1); } BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(test_select_base_instantiation_default) { SelectBase selectBase(true, _T("abc")); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getSelectType(), false); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getTypeName(_T("abc")); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getEntityType(), -1); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getDataPos(), -1); } The first test passed correctly, initializing all the variables. The constructor in the second unit test did not correctly set EntityType or DataPosition, but the unit test passed. I was able to get it to fail by placing some variables on the stack in the second test, like so: BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(test_select_base_instantiation_default) { int a, b; SelectBase selectBase(true, _T("abc")); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getSelectType(), false); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getTypeName(_T("abc")); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getEntityType(), -1); BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL( selectBase.getDataPos(), -1); } If there is only one int, only the dataPos CHECK_EQUAL fails, but if there are two, both EntityType and DataPos fail, so it seems pretty clear that this is an issue with the variables being created on the same stack memory or some such. Is there a good way to clear the memory between each unit test, or am I potentially using the library incorrectly or writing bad tests? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Unable to HTTP PUT with libcurl to django-piston

    - by Jesse Beder
    I'm trying to PUT data using libcurl to mimic the command curl -u test:test -X PUT --data-binary @data.yaml "http://127.0.0.1:8000/foo/" which works correctly. My options look like: curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "test:test"); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_URL, "http://127.0.0.1:8000/foo/"); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_UPLOAD, 1); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_READFUNCTION, read_data); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_READDATA, &yaml); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_INFILESIZE, yaml.size()); curl_easy_perform(handle); I believe the read_data function works correctly, but if you ask, I'll post that code. I'm using Django with django-piston, and my update function is never called! (It is called when I use the command line version above.) libcurl's output is: * About to connect() to 127.0.0.1 port 8000 (#0) * Trying 127.0.0.1... * connected * Connected to 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) port 8000 (#0) * Server auth using Basic with user 'test' > PUT /foo/ HTTP/1.1 Authorization: Basic dGVzdDp0ZXN0 Host: 127.0.0.1:8000 Accept: */* Content-Length: 244 Expect: 100-continue * Done waiting for 100-continue ** this is where my read_data handler confirms: read 244 bytes ** * HTTP 1.0, assume close after body < HTTP/1.0 400 BAD REQUEST < Date: Thu, 13 May 2010 08:22:52 GMT < Server: WSGIServer/0.1 Python/2.5.1 < Vary: Authorization < Content-Type: text/plain < Bad Request* Closing connection #0

  • MVC 3 ModelView passing parameters between view & controller

    - by Tobias Vandenbempt
I've been playing with MVC 3 in a test project and have the following issue. I have Group & Subscriber entities and those are coupled through a SubscriberGroup table. Using the DetailView of Group I open a view of SubscriberGroup containing all subscribers. This list has the option to filter. So far it all works, however when I call the AddToGroup method on the controller it fails. Specifically it goes into the method but doesn't pass the subscriberCheckedModels list. Am I doing something wrong? • Using 'Copy as cURL' from Chrome in windows command line

    - by user2029890
So, Google Chrome as this great 'copy as cURL' option under 'Network' of the Chrome DevTools. Works great in command lines for linux but not in windows. Apparently it has something to do with the single quotes as the error I get is protocol 'http not supported In other words its reading that single quote. Is there a simple way to make this formatable for windows? I tried replacing all the single quotes with double quotes but then nothing happens at all. The command is: curl 'http://www.test.com/login/' -H 'Cookie: PHPSESSID=7dvb25maaaaaa9d7bbbbbc3f6' -H 'Origin: http://www.test.com' -H 'Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate, sdch' -H 'Host: www.test.com' -H 'Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.8' -H 'User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/28.0.1500.95 Safari/537.36' -H 'Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' -H 'Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,/;q=0.8' -H 'Cache-Control: max-age=0' -H 'Referer: http://www.test.com/login/' -H 'Connection: keep-alive' --data 'loc=&login=user%40test.com&password=password&submit1=Sign+In' --compressed Thank you

  • Change classloader

    - by Chris
I'm trying to switch the class loader at runtime: public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { final InjectingClassLoader classLoader = new InjectingClassLoader(); Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(classLoader); Thread thread = new Thread("test") { public void run() { System.out.println("running..."); // approach 1 ClassLoader cl = TestProxy.class.getClassLoader(); try { Class c = classLoader.loadClass("classloader.TestProxy"); Object o = c.newInstance(); c.getMethod("test", new Class[] {}).invoke(o); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } // approach 2 new TestProxy().test(); }; }; thread.setContextClassLoader(classLoader); thread.start(); } } and: public class TestProxy { public void test() { ClassLoader tcl = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader(); ClassLoader ccl = ClassToLoad.class.getClassLoader(); ClassToLoad classToLoad = new ClassToLoad(); } } (it is not relevant what the InjectingClassLoader is) I'd like to make the result of "approach 1" and "approach 2" exactly same, but it looks like thread.setContextClassLoader(classLoader) does nothing and the "approach 2" always uses the system classloader (can be determined by comparing tcl and ccl variables while debugging). Is it possible to make all classes loaded by new thread use given classloader?

  • What if I put two kinds of encoded strings, say utf-8 and utf-16, in one file?

    - by jonny
In Python, for example: f = open('test','w') f.write('this is a test\n'.encode('utf-16')) f.write('another test\n'.encode('utf-8')) f.close() That file gets messy when I re-open it: f = open("test") print f.readline().decode('utf-16') # it leads to UnicodeDecodeError print f.readline().decode('utf-8') # it works fine However if I keep the texts encoded in one style (say utf-16 only), it could read back ok. So I'm guessing mixing two types of encoding in the same file is wrong and couldn't be decoded back, even if I do know the encoding rules of each specific string? Any suggestion is welcome, thank you!

  • IronPython For Unit Testing over C#

    - by Krish
We know that Python provides a lot of productivity over any compiled languages. We have programming in C# & need to write the unit test cases in C# itself. If we see the amount of code we write for unit test is approximately ten times more than the original code. Is it ideal choice to write unit test cases in IronPython instead of C#? Any body has done like that? I wrote few test cases, they seems to be good. But hairy pointy managers won't accept.

  • How can I get JavaDoc into a JunitReport?

    - by benklaasen
Hi - I'm a tester, with some Java and plenty of bash coding experience. My team is building an automated functional test harness using JUnit 4 and ant. Testers write automated tests in Java and use JavaDoc to document these tests. We're using ant's JunitReport task to generate our test result reports. This works superbly for reporting. What we're missing, however, is a way to combine those JavaDoc free-text descriptions of what the test does along with the JunitReport results. My question is, what's involved to get the JavaDoc into the JunitReport output? I'd like to be able to inject the JavaDoc for a given test method into the JunitReport at the level of each method result. regards Ben

  • Storing a reference to an object in C#

    - by Jack
I was wondering how one could store a reference to an object in .net. That is, I would like something like the following code (note, of course, that the following code may be way off from how to actually do it): class Test { private /*reference to*/ Object a; public Test(ref int a) { this.a = a; this.a = ((int)this.a) + 1; } public Object getA() { return this.a; } } /* * ... */ static void Main(string[] args) { int a; a=3; Test t = new Test(ref a); Console.WriteLine(a); Console.WriteLine(t.getA()); Console.ReadKey(); } To produce the following output: 4 4 Ideally, I would like to do this without writing a wrapper class around the integer. In other words, I think I want pointers in .Net.

    I'm trying to use suds but have so far been unsuccessful at figuring this out. Hopefully it's something simple that i'm missing. Any help would be highly appreciated. This is supposed to be the raw soap message that i need to achieve: <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:api="http://api.service.apimember.soapservice.com/"> <soapenv:Header/> <soapenv:Body> <api:insertOrUpdateMemberByObj> <token>t67GFCygjhkjyUy8y9hkjhlkjhuii</token> <member> <dynContent> <entry> <key>FIRSTNAME</key> <value>hhhhbbbbb</value> </entry> </dynContent> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> </api:insertOrUpdateMemberByObj> </soapenv:Body> </soapenv:Envelope> So i use suds to create the member object: member = client.factory.create('member') produces: (apiMember){ attributes = (attributes){ entry[] = <empty> } } How exactly do i append an 'entry'? I try this: member.attributes.entry.append({'key':'FIRSTNAME','value':'test'}) and that produces this: (apiMember){ attributes = (attributes){ entry[] = { value = "test" key = "FIRSTNAME" }, } } However, what i actually need is: (apiMember){ attributes = (attributes){ entry[] = (entry) { value = "test" key = "FIRSTNAME" }, } } How do i achieve this?

  • Why is a menu item disabled when using SWTBot?

    - by reprogrammer
I've written up a GUI test using SWTBot to test the Extract Method refactoring. I use editor.selectRange() to select a statement to extract into a method. But, when I run the unit test, the Extract Method refactoring menu item is disabled. Thus, SWTBot fails to invoke the refactoring. When we change org.eclipse.jdt.ui.actions.ExtractMethodAction so that the "Extract Method..." menu item is always enabled, our SWTBot passes. But, SWTBot should let us select the menu item without hacking the org.eclipse.jdt.ui plugin. The whole project containing the above unit test is available at github. I've also reported the problem on the Eclipse forum for SWTBot. But, we haven't received a solution from the forum.
