  • Splashscreen ProgressBar in Eclipse RCP has "dirty" corners

    - by pimpf0r
Hi there, I am using the RCP Splash Screen along with the built-in ProgressBar (AbsolutePositionProgressMonitorPart). The splash image has a blue background color, but the background of the progressbar seems to be white, which leads to some white corners. There is no "setBackground" on BasicSplashHandler nor does getContent().setBackground(Color) has any noticeable effect. I don't want to be too picky, but since the splash is the first thing you see from the application, I think its very important to be tidy. So, do you have any idea how to get rid of these corners?

  • doofus ASP.Net master page scrollbar question

    - by Stephen Falken
    Like happens to all of us sometimes, I inherited some crappy code I have to fix. We need to center our pages on widescreen machines, so we have a master page layout div like so: .MasterLayout { width:1100px; height: 100%; position:absolute; left:50%; margin-left:-550px; vertical-align:top; } I removed most of the detailed attributes for readability here, but here's how the table for the master page is laid out: <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <td style="width: 100%" align="center" colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="height: 20px; background-color: #333;"> <asp:SiteMapPath/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 86px; height: 650px; background-color: #B5C7DE; margin: 6px;" valign="top"> <asp:Menu /> <asp:SiteMapDataSource /> </td> <td style="background-color:#ffffff; margin:5px; width:1000px;" valign="top"> <asp:contentplaceholder id="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"/> </td> </tr> </table> When resizing the browser window, the horizontal scrollbar only reaches as far as the left edge of the <asp:contentplaceholder/> control, and the <asp:menu/> that's in the 86px wide <td> is hidden. How can I fix this problem? THANKS IN ADVANCE

  • Using an NSButtonCell with template image in a NSTableView

    - by alloy
In Interface Builder, I have set the dataCell of one of the columns of my NSTableView instance to be NSButtonCell. This works as expected, however, trying to use a ‘template’ image doesn't yield the expected visual result when clicking the button. How I configure the NSButtonCell: Image: NSRevealFreestandingTemplate Scaling: None Bezel: Bevel Type: Momentary Push In Bordered: false Expected result when clicking the button: Since the image is a ‘template’, the button should render its ‘on’ state. The background, ie the space surrounding the image, should not change. Actual result when clicking the button: No difference in the ‘state’ of the rendered image. The background color changes to white. Even-though I’ve tried my best to make the explanation of the problem as concise as possible, I’ve also made a simple screencast to visually illustrate the problem. And uploaded the demo app.

  • Jalopy comments indentation

    - by Neil Wightman
Hi All. We use jalopy to format our code to the sun standard (well 99%). I have 1 issue with it. It keeps moving comments to the right of the line. E.g // Panel "JPanel.border", new LazyValue(packageName + "PanelBorder"), //frozen // Button "Button.background", new ColorUIResource(251, 251, 251), //frozen "Button.foreground", new ColorUIResource(0, 0, 0), //frozen But jalopy always moves the // Button to the far right. // Panel "JPanel.border", new LazyValue(packageName + "PanelBorder"), //frozen // Button "Button.background", new ColorUIResource(251, 251, 251), //frozen "Button.foreground", new ColorUIResource(0, 0, 0), //frozen Is there any way to stop this? Thanks Neil

  • WPF - Only want one expander open at a time

    - by Portsmouth
    I have a UserControl with a templated grouped listbox with expanders and only want one expander open at any time. I have browsed through the site but haven't found anything except binding the IsExpanded to IsSelected which isn't quite what I want. I am trying to put some code in the Expanded event that would loop through Expanders and close all the ones that aren't the expander passed in the Expanded event. I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. I've tried ListBox.Items.Groups but didn't see how to get at them and tried ListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem (or Index) but nothing came back. Thanks <ListBox Name="ListBox"> <ListBox.GroupStyle > <GroupStyle> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Border BorderBrush="CadetBlue" BorderThickness="1"> <Expander BorderThickness="0,0,0,1" Expanded="Expander_Expanded" Focusable="False" IsExpanded="{Binding IsSelected, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType= {x:Type ListBoxItem}}}" > <Expander.Header> <Grid> <StackPanel Height="30" Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" Margin="5,0,0,0" MinWidth="200" Padding="3" VerticalAlignment="Center" /> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text=" Setups: " VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Right"/> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Path=ItemCount}" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Right" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> </Expander.Header> <Expander.Content> <Grid Background="white" > <ItemsPresenter /> </Grid> </Expander.Content> <Expander.Style > <Style TargetType="{x:Type Expander}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="true"> <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1"> <GradientStop Color="WhiteSmoke" Offset="0.0" /> <GradientStop Color="Orange" Offset="1.0" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="false" <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> </code>

  • CSS for https urls

    - by Vincent
Hello, looking for some help with images referenced within the stylesheet. I have no problems with these from non secure locations within the site but only from https. The stylesheet loads fine and displays everything correctly except for the images. example: body { margin: 0; padding: 0; background: url(/img/background_tile.gif) top left repeat-x; text-align: center; background-color: #fff; } All my css files and other image paths inside the code use relative urls to images. How can I make sure they all work fine without hard coding my image paths with https or http? I want the code to work fine with http and https. Thanks

  • How can I scale an image in a CSS sprite

    - by michael
Hi, In this article, http://css-tricks.com/css-sprites/, it talks about how can I crop off a smaller image from 1 bigger image. Can you please tell me if it is possible/how I can crop off a smaller image and then scale the cropped off region before I lay it out? Here is an example from that article: A { background-image: url(http://www.jaredhirsch.com/coolrunnings/public_images/3deb155981/spriteme1.png); background-position: -10px -56px; } I would like to know how can I scale that image after I crop it from from spriteme1.png Here is the URL of the example: http://css-tricks.com/examples/CSS-Sprites/Example1After/ So I would like to know if I can make the icons next to Item1,2,3,4 smaller?

  • IE7 float/clear bug

    - by alex
I am having the weirdest behavior in IE7 on this page. I have a clear: left on #moored that makes sure that #content-container will expand to the height of the float: left'd #content. Of course, Firefox and IE8 do it right. The weird thing though, is in IE7, it appears that #content-container is automatically expanding to contain the #secondary-content, which it shouldn't. Even weirder is when I view with IE8 with developer tools, the boundary boxes seem to show the that the #content-container is the expanding to the height of the #secondary-container, even though the background: #fff tells a different story. The background goes to where it should, and the void is now black. I've Googled a bit and came across heaps of similar float bugs, but I don't think I've found one which offers a fix yet for this circumstance. Can anyone please help me?

  • Avoid painting over nested controls

    - by Cobus Kruger
I am writing a toolbar-style control and use the ThemeServices unit to paint the background required by the toolbar. Like so: ThemeServices.DrawElement(Canvas.Handle, ThemeServices.GetElementDetails(trRebarRoot), ARect); I then drop child controls onto the toolbar and voila - instant toolbar. Except that every now and again I notice that the nested (child) controls don't repaint as well. So my control paints its background and the child controls disappear until you move the mouse over them. Some of the edit controls show their client area (no border) and some of them are just gone altogether. This happens mostly when I place a window from another application over the toolbar and move it away. I keep thinking this has to be very easy to cure, that perhaps I'm somehow preventing the paint message from reaching the child controls, or missing an override but I have been unable to figure it out.

  • Why doesn't border-radius work properly on text inputs in MobileSafari?

    - by abrahamvegh
Here is a reference HTML document: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style> body { background-color: #000; } input { -webkit-border-radius: 20px; } </style> </head> <body> <input type="text" value="text" /> </body> </html> The border-radius renders fine on Safari/WebKit-based desktop browsers, but on the "MobileSafari" variant, namely the iPhone and iPad browsers, it renders with this strange box, which destroys the illusion of rounded corners when the input is being displayed on top of a differently-colored background.

  • How do I allow inline images with data urls on .NET 4 without triggering request validation?

    - by Johan Driessen
I'm using the jQuery jstree plugin (http://jstree.com) in a ASP.NET MVC 2 project on .NET 4 RC. It comes with some stylesheets with inline images with data urls, like this: .tree-checkbox ul { background-image:url(data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAgACAIAAAB4dGf///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAACAAIAAAICRF4AOw==); } Now, the url for the background image contains a colon, which .NET 4 thinks is an unsafe character, so I get this error message: A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (:). According to the documentation, I am supposed to be able to prevent this by adding <pages validateRequest="false" /> to my Web.config, but that doesn't seem to help. I have tried adding it to the main Web.config for the application, as well as to a special Web.config in the /config folder, but to no avail. Is there any way to get .NET to allow this?

  • Cross-Page communication in firefox extension

    - by OzBarry
I have two tabs that my extension uses and I wanted to pass events back and forth between them. I've already developed a Google Chrome extension that does this via the background page api, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in firefox. I thought message-manager in the firefox extension docs would do the trick, but the documentation on the object is quite poor. I'd be just as happy with using one of the tabs to control the other if I can't directly import the ideas of a background page from google chrome api. Any help/guidance would be great.

  • WinForms equivalent of performSelectorOnMainThread in Objective-C

    - by jamone
I haven't done much multithreading before and now find the need to do some background work and keep the UI responsive. I have the following code. data.ImportProgressChanged += new DataAccess.ImportDelegate(data_ImportProgressChanged); Thread importThread = new Thread( new ThreadStart(data.ImportPeopleFromFAD)); importThread.IsBackground = true; importThread.Start(); void data_ImportProgressChanged(int progress) { toolStripProgressBar.Value = progress; } //In my data object I have public void ImportPeopleFromFAD() { ImportProgressChanged(someInt); } But the UI doesn't get updated since the ImportProgressChanged() call is made on the background thread. In objective C I know you can use performSelectorOnMainThread and pass it a method to call using the main thread. What is the equivalent way of calling ImportProgressChanged() from the main thread?

  • WPF Statusbar Updates - help, I seem to be going round in circles

    - by David Ward
I seem to be going round in circles. I have a WPF application that has a main ribbon window with a status bar. When you navigate to a "view" a user control is displayed as the content of the main window. The view has a ViewModel which handles retrieving data from the database and the View's datacontext is set to the ViewModel. What I want is to have the lengthy operation (data retrieval) run on a background thread and whilst it is running the status in the main window to report appropriately. When the background task is complete, the status should revert back to "Ready" (much the same as Visual Studio). How should I wire this together so that I can have the data access code separated out in the ViewModel whilst keeping a responsive UI? I have tried using the BackgroundWorker is various places in the code and I still end up with an unresponsive UI.

  • Core-Data + AFNetworking + UI Updating (Responsiveness)

    - by Mustafa
Here's the scenario: I'm writing a DownloadManager, that allows the user to download, pause, cancel, download all, and pause all. The DownloadManager is a singleton, and uses AFNetworking to download files. It has it's own private managed object context, so that user can freely use other parts of the application (by adding, editing, deleting) core-data objects. I have a core-data entity DownloadInfo that stores the download information i.e. fileURL, fileSize, bytesRead, etc. The DownloadManager updates the download progress in DownloadInfo (one for each file). I have a DownloadManagerViewController which uses NSFetchedResultsController to show the download status to the user. This download view controller is using the main managed object context. Now let's say that I have 20 files in the download queue. And let's say that only 3 concurrent downloads are allowed. The download manager should download the file, and show the download progress. Problem: The DownloadInfo objects are being updated by the DownloadManager at a very high rate. The DownloadManagerViewController (responsible for showing the download progress) is updating the list using NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate methods. The result is that a lot is happening in the main queue and application has very poor responsiveness. How can I fix this? How can I make the application responsive, while showing the download progress? I don't know how else to communicate that the download status between DownloadManager and DownloadManagerViewController. Is there another/ a better way to do this? I don't want to use main managed object context in my DownloadManager, for reasons mentioned above. Note, that the DownloadManager is using AFNetworking which is handling the requests asynchronously, but eventually the DownloadInfo objects are updated in the main thread (as a result of the callback methods). Maybe there's a way to handle the downloads and status update operations in a background thread? but how? How will I communicate between the main thread and the background thread i.e. how will I tell the background thread to queue another file for download? Thanks.

  • BackgroundWorker not working with TeamCity NUnit runner

    - by Catalin DICU
I'm using NUnit to test View Models in a WPF 3.5 application and I'm using the BackgroundWorker class to execute asynchronous commands. The unit test are running fine with the NUnit runner or ReSharper runner but fail on TeamCity 5.1 server. How is it implemented : I'm using a ViewModel property named IsBusy and set it to false on BackgroundWorker.RunWorkerCompleted event. In my test I'm using this method to wait for the BackgroundWorker to finish : protected void WaitForBackgroundOperation(ViewModel viewModel) { int count = 0; while (viewModel.IsBusy) { RunBackgroundWorker(); if (count++ >= 100) { throw new Exception("Background operation too long"); } Thread.Sleep(100); } } private static void RunBackgroundWorker() { Dispatcher.CurrentDispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Background, new ThreadStart(delegate { })); System.Windows.Forms.Application.DoEvents(); } Well, sometimes it works and sometimes it hangs the build. I suppose it's the Application.DoEvents() but I don't know why...

  • How can I fix the website's splash page to work in IE8 and below?

    - by Abriel
    I have been trying to figure out for the longest time how I can get the splash page on this website to work correctly in IE8 and below? Right now, it works on all the other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari). Here is the website: http://gds.parkland.edu/student/fall10/gds220/ashipley/p2/final_revised/index.html jQuery code: /* Sliding Affect Splash Page */ $(function() { $('.box').each(function() { var $this = $(this); $.data(this, 'css', { width: $this.css('width'), background: $this.css('background-image') }); }); }); function restore() { $('.box').each(function() { var orig = $.data(this, 'css'); $(this).animate({ width: orig.width },{queue:false}); $(this).css({backgroundImage: orig.background}); }); } /* box 1 */ function boxHover(){ $('.box').stop().animate({'width' : '596px'},{queue:false}); } function box1master(){ $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box2master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_top.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box3master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage:'url(images/splash/galleries_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box4master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midbottom.jpg)'}); } $(document).ready(function(){ $('.box1').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box1master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box2').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box2master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box3').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box3master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box4').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box4master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); }); I wonder if I could change the spacing in-between each of the boxes using jQuery or if I somehow have to do this in the CSS/HTML?

  • Making footer image stick to bottom of web browser or page

    - by Slyphee
Hello, I know this has been asked alot of times in the past but for the life of me I can't seem to get any of the other solutions to work. What I'm trying to do is to get the footer (which is an image that repeats across the width of the page) to stick to the bottom of the browser when there isn't enough content to naturally push it to the bottom of the page and when there IS enough content to push it to the bottom it does just that. An example is the one at http://www.themaninblue.com/experiment/footerStickAlt/good_example_short.htm which does exactly what I want but I can't get to work either. The code that I've currently got implemented makes the footer stick to a certain section of the page with text going under it. You can see it at sourcectrl.co.uk but its not much to look at. Heres the code for your viewing pleasure. html, body { font: 100% Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; height: 100%; color: #597347; margin: 0; padding: 0; background: #573909; } header { display: block; position: relative; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 66px; background: url(../images/FillerPage_01.gif) repeat-x left bottom; } section { width: 940px; margin: 0 auto; font-size: 1.4em; overflow: auto; min-height: 100%; height: auto !important; height: 100%; margin-bottom: 87px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 90px; } footer { display:block; position: absolute; bottom: 0; width: 100%; height: 87px; background: url(../images/FillerPage_08.gif) repeat-x left bottom; } Sorry if it seems messy! I'd just like to know if I'm heading in the right direction or theres something I'm just not getting? Oh yeah I'm trying to do all of this with the html 5 markup which is why there is no #footer and the like (could this be why none of the solutions work?). If anyone could give me any help or guidance I'd be soooooo grateful.

  • Common Mercator Projection formulas for Google Maps not working correctly

    - by Tom Halladay
I am building a Tile Overlay server for Google maps in C#, and have found a few different code examples for calculating Y from Latitude. After getting them to work in general, I started to notice certain cases where the overlays were not lining up properly. To test this, I made a test harness to compare Google Map's Mercator LatToY conversion against the formulas I found online. As you can see below, they do not match in certain cases. Case #1 Zoomed Out: The problem is most evident when zoomed out. Up close, the problem is barely visible. Case #2 Point Proximity to Top & Bottom of viewing bounds: The problem is worse in the middle of the viewing bounds, and gets better towards the edges. This behavior can negate the behavior of Case #1 The Test: I created a google maps page to display red lines using the Google Map API's built in Mercator conversion, and overlay this with an image using the reference code for doing Mercator conversion. Dare I ask, resolved this? Or simply have a better C# implementation of Mercator Project coordinate conversion? Thanks!

  • continuous music on website

    - by Patrick
Hi all, I'm against it as I'm sure ALL of you are, but my client wants background music on their website. I'm very new to this, so was wondering how should I do that? I know I should use iframes, but what's the actual way of using them? eg: do I just create the home page with 2 frames (one for the music, one for the rest of the website), and then every time the user clicks on a link I can load the usual destination page - or should I update all pages in some way to make sure they are 'frames enabled'? Also, I do I style the frame to make sure it's hidden? thanks, Patrick ps please don't reopen the discussion about why background music is not good - I do know that and personally hate it. But the client is adamant and paying for it so... ;)
