  • Cocos2d on iPhone: Using Sprites Defined in Separate Class Files.

    - by srikanth rongali
I'm trying to draw two sprites on the same screen. I have defined the two sprite objects in two separate class files. If I comment out two lines (see "item 1" comment below) then I get a display as [a backgroundimage[background2.jpg] with a sprite[grossini.png] on the left side. If I uncomment the two lines I do not get the background image and sprite of (gameScreen.m). I get only the sprite [grossinis_sister1.png] defined in (enemy.m). But what I need is a [backgroundimage[background2.jpg]], sprite[grossini.png] and sprite [grossinis_sister1.png] in one screen. This is implementation file of my first class: #import "gameScreen.h" #import "enemy.h" @implementation gameScreen -(id)init { if((self = [super init])) { CCSprite *backGroundImage = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"background2.jpg"]; backGroundImage.anchorPoint = ccp(0,0); CCParallaxNode *voidNode = [CCParallaxNode node]; [voidNode addChild:backGroundImage z:-1 parallaxRatio:ccp(0.0f,0.0f) positionOffset:CGPointZero]; [self addChild:voidNode]; CGSize windowSize = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] winSize]; CCSprite *player = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"grossini.png"]; player.position = ccp(player.contentSize.width/2, windowSize.height/2); [self addChild:player z:0]; //eSprite = [[enemy alloc]init]; //<-- see item 1 //[self addChild:eSprite]; } return self; } This is my implementation file of my second class: #import "enemy.h" #import "gameScreen.h" @implementation enemy -(id)init { if ((self = [super init])) { CGSize windowSize = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] winSize]; CCSprite *enemySprite = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"grossinis_sister1.png" ]; enemySprite.position = ccp(windowSize.width/2, windowSize.height/2); [self addChild:enemySprite]; } return self; } @end

  • Ways to optimize Android App code based on function call stack?

    - by K-RAN
I've been told that Android OS stores all function calls in a stack. This can lead to many problems and cause the 'hiccups' during runtime, even if a program is functionalized properly, correct? So the question is, how can we prevent this from happening? The obvious solution is to functionalize less, along with other sensible acts such as refraining from excessively/needlessly creating objects, performing static calls to functions that don't access fields, etc... Is there another way though? Or can this only be done through careful code writing on the programmers' part? Does the JVM/JIT automatically optimize the bytecode during compile time to account for this?? Thanks a lot for your responses!!

  • Will it use more and more memory if I keep drawing on the UIView?

    - by Tattat
This is my drawRect: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [UIColor redColor].CGColor); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, x1, y1); CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, x2, y2); CGContextStrokePath(context); If I run this code thousand times or more. My UIView will have many lines on that. Will it use more memory than only just one line on it? Er... ...I mean, will the program remember the line I draw or after it draw the lines, it won't have any information in the memory. thz .

  • iPhone/Obj-C - Archiving object causes lag

    - by Dylan
Hi I have a table view, and when I delete a cell I am removing an item from an NSMutableArray, archiving that array, and removing the cell. However, when I do this, it is causing the delete button to lag after I click it. Is there any way to fix this? // Override to support editing the table view. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { int row = [indexPath row]; [savedGames removeObjectAtIndex:row]; [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; //this line causing lag [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:savedGames toFile:[self dataFilePath]]; } } Thanks

  • Custom UIButton + subviews = no events

    - by user281300
Basically I have a custom UIButton and this custom button contains subviews. If I add those subviews to my uibutton, then the button stops responding to event changes. I.e if I click on it it doesn't respond to the selector. I have everything set as userInteractionEnabled. I also tried adding touchbegan and this is working. If I remove those subviews, the UIButton works again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

  • iPhone App takes up too much memory

    - by Stephen Furlani
Ok, so here's my problem. My iPhone app is 1.2MB on disk. Granted I have a bunch of Images for the GUI buttons and backgrounds, etc. In-memory, my app takes up a whopping 15MB! That means if I then take a picture with the camera, 8MB default, it gives a memory warning (several) even before the picker calls its delegate! How can I tell what is grabbing so much memory, and how to remove it? I've removed all of my debugging symbols and added [-Os], but it still takes up a huge amount of memory! Also, (how) can I change the default resolution of the camera?

  • Unable to dismiss MFMailComposeViewController, delegate not called

    - by Rod
HI, I am calling MFMailComposeViewController from UITableViewController. Problem is, delegate method mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController)controllerdidFinishWithResult* is never called when I select Cancel or Send button in Mail compose window. Here is the table view class: @implementation DetailsTableViewController - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (indexPath.section==0 && indexPath.row==4){ //SEND MAIL MFMailComposeViewController *controller = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; controller.mailComposeDelegate = self; if ([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { [controller setSubject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Ref %@",[item objectForKey:@"reference"]]]; [controller setMessageBody:@" " isHTML:NO]; [controller setToRecipients:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[item objectForKey:@"email"]]]; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; } [controller release]; } } - (void)mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController*)controllerdidFinishWithResult:(MFMailComposeResult)result error:(NSError*)error { // NEVER REACHES THIS PLACE [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; NSLog (@"mail finished"); } The application don't crash. After Cancel or Send button is presses Compose Window stays on the screen with buttons disabled. I can exit application pressing Home key. I am able to open other Modal Views form TableView but not MailCompose.

  • How to set an alarm to fire properly at fixed time?

    - by Pentium10
I have this code Calendar c = new GregorianCalendar(); c.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_YEAR, 1); c.set(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY, 23); c.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 22); c.set(Calendar.SECOND, 0); c.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0); // We want the alarm to go off 30 seconds from now. long firstTime = SystemClock.elapsedRealtime(); firstTime += 30*1000; long a=c.getTimeInMillis(); // Schedule the alarm! AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)ctx.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); am.setRepeating(AlarmManager.ELAPSED_REALTIME_WAKEUP, c.getTimeInMillis(), 1*60*60*1000, sender); It is not executed at 23:22h What I am doing wrong? I noticed firstTime and c.getTimeInMillis() differs a lot in size and length. When I use firstTime, so when set to 30 seconds, the alarm is executed well.

  • Draw rectangle using Core Graphics with live preview

    - by mikawber
I'm creating a simple drawing application and would like some help with drawing rectangles based on the user's touch events. I'm able to draw a rectangle using Core Graphics from the point in touchesBegan to the point in touchesEnded. This rectangle is then displayed once the touchesEnded event is fired. However, I would like to be able to do this in a 'live' fashion. Meaning, the rectangle is updated as the user drags their finger. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
