• Mac OS X Photo Tool: Cropping w/ particular aspect ratio

  I'm spoiled by FastStone on the PC. I'm looking for decent freeware/shareware for Mac OS X that will allow basic photo editing, particularly something that lets me pick a crop size or aspect ratio by entering in numbers rather than just a freehand crop (I need to make sure it's 8.5"x11" aspect ratio). Any suggestions?

• Keys getting stuck

  I am running a desktop with Vista. At random points when typing I will press a key, the key will stick. I will get multiple keypressesssssssssssssssssss. (for example what just happened at the end of that last word!) Any ideas what is causing this? I dont even know where to start looking here..

• On OS X, what is pubsubagent and why does it connect so many places?

  I use Little Snitch to monitor network connections on OS X, and I frequently see attempts by something called pubsubagent to connect to many varying sites. What is this program for and why does it use so many connections? According to this article it's used by .me sync to synchronize RSS feeds and bookmarks. But I don't have any RSS feeds. And if it's synching bookmarks, then why is it going to places like 'l.google.com' (and many more random ones) instead of just to .me?

  I have a data set for employees that contains name and 3 attributes (job function, job grade and location). I then have a data set for open positions that contains the requisition number and 3 attributes (job function, job grade and job location). For every employee, i would like the three attributes associated with them compared to the same three attributes of the open positions and have the cooresponding requisition numbers displayed for each employee where there is a match.

  I have a stack of client folders with names like this: eastcoal 008 mee 022 orr 047 owaka 032 owen 025 powernet006 redpath 031 Normally this works, but sometimes I'd like to sort by the number. So how can I sort folders by the last characters in the folder string? Characters will always be three consecutive numbers, and will run from 001 to 999 (until I've done a thousand jobs, which will take years).

• Glassfish basic configuration forgotten

  I installed glassfish v3 some time ago and it's been a while since I last used it, so I forgot the port on which the server is listening and the port on which the admin console is listening. Moreover, i forgot the admin password! I'm pretty sure I've change them because I've tried the default values and didn't work.   I would always just spell it out saying "Eye Eye Ess," but my boss always calls it "Two Ess," like the II is roman numeral.   In all the forums web pages the download links are given inside the [code] braces that looks like text area with white background. When the download links are in large numbers then there are scroll bars. I find it difficult to scroll up and then select and then drag down to select all links. Is there any way to select all , when I click on select all on right click then it usually selects the text from whole page not from that code segment

Ive been getting reports form people who try accessing my site from a PS3, that every page appears like a jumble of random characters on a white background, sorta like echoing out a gzipped string as plain text. Im using nginx. Does the PS3 browser not support gzipping? Anything I can do except disabling it?

He supplies as 'Login:' his student index number and a new, locked account is created with random password that is sent to his [email protected] mail as authentication method. After he logs in with this password, account is fully created and activated/unlocked and the user is asked/forced to change the pass for a new one.

  I've seen this before but I forgot what's its called. Does anyone know of software that takes a picture and spits out an image of the number pi, ie. 3.14... not the symbol? It basically kinda looks like ascii art but the numbers are different shades of gray so it is like a black and white photo. Thanks!

  After setting up User Profile sync with AD I've noticed that the newsfeed section of each user's MySite is now flooded with lots of random notes detailing changes that have been pulled in about their (and their contacts') profiles. Is there anyway to purge this activity and stop updates from the sync service getting listed on the newsfeed? Our users are likely to find it strange getting updates about changes to their own profiles that they didn't make themselves.

  We are expecting a large number of users to hit a Website built with IIS/.Net 4.0 that our SQL Server 2008 database server is providing data for. The database is around 2GB in size. We are contemplating increasing the MAX CONNECTION POOL to between 500 to 1000 -- to handle the estimated traffic. Two questions (1) Does anyone have any hard performance numbers indicating the kind of improvement this may provide?   I have SQL Server 2005 operating on a remotely hosted server and wish to access it from my own machine using management studio The firewall on the remote server is allready setup to allow all traffic from my external IP - and that works great. However I have a load balancing router that has a second line attached to it - unfortunatly the second line has a dynamic external IP. I need to therefore set up a rule in the router to always send data from Management studio on the first line - but I need to know the port numbers. Can you advise?

  I found 3 numbers for the Total Physical Memory: In the Task Manager under the Performance tab: 1978 MB In Computer Properties: 2 GB And running wmic computersystem get TotalPhysicalMemory /format:list in the command line: 2074554368 Bites Number 1 matches Number 3 except Number 1 is rounded. When I convert Number 3 to GB 2074554368 / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 I don't quite get 2 GB. I get 1.93207932 GB. Why does Number 1 and Number 3 not match Number 2?

• How can text be set on both the left and right sides of a line in Word?

  Is it possible to set Microsoft Word to display some text left-aligned and other text right-aligned on a single line? Here's an example of what I mean: | Chickens, turkey and duck 30 | | Cows 240 | | Pigs and boar 83 | | Sheep Not applicable | where the vertical lines denote the sides of the page. The full justify option won't work because I don't want anything in the middle of the lines. The table of contents option has the formatting I want, but only supports page numbers, which does me no good.

• As my tables grew to more than a few hundreds, MySQL performance degraded

  As long as my tables were less than 100, MySQL performed reasonably well but when they started to grow to more than a few hundreds, it (MYSQL) has become extremely slow. Now my tables are 1k and are very small and most contain less than 20-30 records. Is there a specific MySQL setting which I should consider, in order for MySQL to perform better with large numbers of tables?
