I previously asked a question about whether it was possible to use Cisco VPN client on Windows 7 64-bit (see below).
Now that I have it set up, it doesn't work when I try to connect off the local network. I realize that there must be some networking/routing that I need to do since it's running on a virtual machine. How does one go about using the Cisco VPN client from XP mode in Windows 7?

I reformatted a drive to NTFS (not quick) and installed Windows XP on it. Now it's trying to do the graphical portion of the setup, wanting me to click Accepts and Nexts... but I can't!
The keyboard works to get to the BIOS and in the BIOS. I have reset the CMOS many times, tried fail-safe and optimized defaults, and even enabled USB Keyboard and mouse support (even though the I have no USB devices plugged in).
I am trying to kick the habit of using a mouse where I could use keyboard shortcuts, for ergonomic reasons. I believe that if I see some statistics of my use of both input devices, I could reduce my use of mouse clicks.
Do you know of any free software I can install on my Windows XP machine that counts keypresses and mouse button presses and displays an hourly/daily report?
No fancy GUI is needed - just two summary lines.
I thought it's possible to run expired Windows in Safe Mode. However, Windows has expired and I'm getting the following message trying to log-in in SF:
"This copy of windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue. Because activation cannot occur in safe mode, please restart
the computer in normal mode to activate windows.".
Does every version of XP behave like that? Is there any way around?
Hi,
I'm using Linux for years and now I have to work with Windows XP at work. The problem is I don't like default shortcuts for switching keyboard input languages: [CTRL]+[SHIFT] and [ALT]+[SHIFT]. And I'd really like to change the shortcut to the one I'm using in Linux [SHIFT]+[SHIFT].
I've googled for a while, played with registry but have not found any solution.
So, can I assign custom ([SHIFT]+[SHIFT]) shortcut for switching keyboard input languages?
Thanks in advance,
Andriy
Running an Intel Mac Mini with 1.5GB RAM and an 80GB HDD with Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard. With a Windows XP Pro partition (25GB) via Boot Camp and VMWare Fusion 2.0; the Windows partition is nearly out of space.
I would like to repartition the Windows partition to at least 50GB. How can/should I repartition this mac? I prefer free solutions but paid solutions are also welcome.
When using the task manager in Windows XP Pro, the amount of RAM that is listed as being used by the individual processes is not adding up to the total memory used (as listed by the total commit on the performance page).
The total sum of all the RAM being used the the processes:
195604 K
The amount in use as listed by performance page and the status bar:
280028 K
1) Why is this?
2) How do I reduce the amount of memory used?
Does anyone know how to remove/uninstall Oracle Developer Suite 10g from Windows XP (SP3) ? It's not appearing in the "Add or Remove Programs" list and it doesn't have a built-in uninstaller. I've googled around for how to do this, and basically, everyone says to run the Oracle Universal Installer shipped with every Oracle product. I've tried to run it from the Oracle Developer Suite 10g installation kit, but it crashes. Anyone got any ideas?
I'm maintaining around 10 PC's with Windows XP as their Operating System. Currently we're using antivirus within each PC. Now I want to upgrade our antivirus. I'm searching antivirus with these criteria
Network based
Beside virus, can handle worm, and trojan
If possible also built in firewall
So which antivirus match with my criteria?
Thanks

I love windows 7 explorer sidebar on left. Is there any tool that can add the same function to XP.
Libraries may not be possible but favourites in sidebar do save lot of time.
I mean, like in windows 7 that you can access the files of other users only if you provide a correct password. Is there any way that we could implement this kind of OS behavior in xp?
I have a Web Cam thats built into my laptop, no drivers exist for a 64Bit env (Thank you Sony!). Now I am wondering if I can somehow publish the web cam from XP Mode into my Win 7 environment.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Is it possible to see the details of what is going on behind the scenes/screen during booting of Windows XP? Something like the dump that is shown when booting up in safe mode.
In the "Date and Time Properties" dialog of Windows XP (reachable by double-clicking on the time/date on the taskbar) the week in the calendar starts on Monday. I would like to change it so that it starts on Sunday. How can this be done?
Thanks in advance
I've followed the instructions and installed and configured the Windows Virtual PC XP Mode. I've added it as a machine on the network and can log into it and use network resources.
In the process I removed the saved credentials, which are just a default local login to the VM.
I need to know how to set this so that the VM auto logs in with the domain account credentials used to log into the physical computer.
Google hasn't helped me find the answer.
Hey all
I'm running XP Pro SP3 on a Late 2007-era 2.2Ghz Macbook.
Unfortunately, it's recently started giving me a Blue Screen of Death when I try to hibernate it.
It gives me the error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", and at the bottom says that it's in "hiber_atapi.sys". Most of the Googling I've done thus far turns up things referring to Windows Server 2003, which is obviously less than useful.
Anyone know any way to fix this short of a full re-install?
Hi, I'm looking information on how to connect checkpoint NGX R60 with Windows XP. I dont have Checkpoint account since I'm only want to connect with it. Is it possible? I've search on google and all gives me result to download Checkpoint NGX Endpoint client for Windows. Any help?
I have 2gb ram, 250GB hdd, and a pentium dual core with 2.50Ghz.
I don't know why but everytime I launch the windows xp mode which only consumes 256Mb of ram(indicated in the settings). Makes my computer slow. And I only have google chrome launched.
What do I do to solve this problem?
Hello, i want to install Windows 7 in a workstation where windows xp is currently installed.
The system has 2 hard drives with 5 partitions and there are permissions on folders on different partitions. After the installation of Windows 7 will these permissions be visible?
Will the permissions be lost? Will i have to re-gain control over the folders in these partitions?
Thanks,
I've got a copy of WinXP off of MSDNAA, with a key. I've mounted it to my CD-drive, and now I'm trying to make it in to a VM.
The problem is, it seems that the thing is constantly trying to connect to a DHCP server, fails to connect and then decides no operating system was found.
The file I got off MSDNAA was an .img file, so I had to mount it to a virtual CD drive.
VmWare workstation comes with a Windows XP iso, tried that, also failed.
I added a user account to my Windows XP box. Now this user is only accessing the pc remotely. My question is how can I remove that user from the login welcome screen? In fact how can I eliminate the welcome screen alltogeather and just log into the box automatically from the main user account?
Thanks
