• virutalbox always get back the same ip

  I exported a virtual machine from my work station, and I am trying to renew the ip-address at home. I put one copy on my laptop and one copy on my PC. I've done this sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and changed the MAC address, but they keep coming back as 192.168.1.165. I need them to be different because I need to run two of these exports at the same time, so I cannot afford to have the same IP. What can I do? Thanks.

  I want to permanently mount a few Windows shared folders. I googled that topic and found a lot of good answers, but with all the solutions I have a little problem: I believe I can't properly give an address of shared folder. I can find it following way: "Network" - "Windows Network" - "WORKGROUP_name" - "Computer_name" - and there is some folder i would like to mount. How can I write the path to the folders in terminal? UPD i can access needed folder throw address in location bar smb://server/ro/, but i try mount it by editing /etc/fstab file (using guide https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently) i get error mount error: could not resolve address for server: Unknown error PS in /etc/fstab : //SERVER/RO /media/server cifs username=user,password=pwd, uid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0

  How do I disable my keyboard's suspend key? My keyboard (Logitech k800) has a key for powering off the pc, in Ubuntu its working as a suspend button. I've tried assigning another shortcut to that button, but its not preventing the computer from sleeping. Also, I'm not sure if there's a difference between suspend and sleep, but it appears to be turning the computer completely off, but when I start it back up it resumes where it left off.

  I am working on an application which deals with all kinds of USB storage devices(such as taking backup, updating DataLogFile etc) My problem is : I want to write a shell script which is stored in this USB drive(As usb is at center of my project so USB is going to be same but PC's will change) AND this script should be executed as soon as the USB drive is connected to my Linux system.I will not need any kind of "root" or "sudo" permissions for other tasks which I am going to do in this shell script.

  I just went through a driver update. The OS froze, so I had to hard reboot the PC. Now I just get the login prompt in terminal. So, I tried to run startx. codeError: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 304.43 but this NVIDIA driver Component has version 295.49` I just got this error. I have to type sudo su then modprobe ndiswrapper to get my Wi-Fi to work, so step by step instructions after that would be greatly helpful.

• Generic Content Player?

  The general idea on the web appears to be that video/audio are to be separated with plain text. By separated, I mean you have a place that plays video/audio and a place that you read text. This is because it is widely understood that they are vastly different. However, audio and video are just another way of communication, just like text. So why do we separate the two even if they are nearly the same thing? Correct me if I'm wrong but, most tutorials are either plain text how-to's (wiki-style) or visual/auditory instructional videos (YouTube). Why aren't the two combined? Or, if it's already been done can someone reply with the link? This might be bordering off-topic and if it is off-topic then please point me to the right place so it won't be. This might also appear to be an obvious question, however I'm not sure if this subject has really been deeply thought-out by more than a few individuals.

• What are the challenges and benefits of writing games with a functional language?

  While I know that functional languages aren't the most commonly used for game writing, there are a lot of benefits associate with them that seem like they would be interesting in any programming context. Especially the ease of parallelization I would think could be very useful as focus is moving toward more and more processors. Also, with F# as a new member of the .NET family, it can be used directly with XNA, for example, which lowers the threshold quite a bit, as opposed to going with LISP, Haskell, Erlang, etc. If anyone has experience writing games with functional code, what has turned out to be the positives and negatives? What was it suited for, what not? Edit: Finding it hard to decide that there's a single good answer for this, so it's probably better suited as a community wiki post.

  I just installed ubuntu. things seems great but I have no sound. When I go to the settings menu I chose from various setup. I found one that work which had 4 speakers a subwofer and a front speaker. When I test it the sound works fine. However, when I try playing an *.mp3 file or try to watch a video on you tube I get no sound at all. I have a dual boot with windows XP and there is no problem in windows at all. Below is my setup. I luckily chose to create a backup windows iso before the install and now want to reinstall windows but i couldnt find a sufficient program to mount the iso to my cd disk. My question is how can i burn the disk using VirtualBox or even how can i transform a virtual box partion to my main OS system?? thx in advance

  I know some of you have been waiting patiently, so I'm pleased to announce that the JET bundle is now available for download on the Oracle Technology Network. I've migrated most of the content from the old Sun wiki site, and got the download in a single handy location on OTN. Download JET now.  The version available is the current latest, which is 4.9.4. This version contains a number of updates, the most significant of which is the ability to specify slot locations instead of the traditional cXtYdZsN nomenclature. This is pretty useful when trying to Jumpstart multiple servers with SAS2.0 based HBAs, as they will have the WWN embedded in the cXtYdZsN name, and it's pretty difficult to guess what that will be until you've booted the server.   Is it possible to reset the connection of a USB device, without physically disconnecting/connecting from the PC? Specifically, my device is a digital camera. I'm using gphoto2, but lately I get "device read errors", so I'd like to try to do a software-reset of the connection. From what I can tell, there are no kernel modules being loaded for the camera. When starting again everything works normal. But after shutting down and starting again, the PC again has the same problem. This problem wasnt there when using Windows. What can I do?   I have tried to start programing with Cocos2dx but I have no idea where to start and the tutorials are no very not very helpful. What I am looking for is some tutorials/guides on how to begin using cocos2dx for the total beginner. Things like how to setup a project and run it and how to do simple things like draw graphics on the screen, play sounds and get input. I am running on windows 7 and have been told by the Cocos2dx wiki that this may cause problems so if anyone has a solution to this that would also be helpful.
