  • What happened to programming-books.com?

    - by Kurtosis
    A couple years ago I found a great site called something like 'programming-books.com' (but not exactly that). It let users submit links to their favorite books for various programming languages, and write a short blurb about why they're so good. You could include their Amazon page and the website would grab a cover picture. I've since lost that bookmark and am trying to find it again, anyone know what site I'm talking about? Is it still around? (cross-posted @ hacker news)

  • Visualizing the SiteMap of a large (page number) website

    - by Michael
    I'm looking for a tool or service that can spider a web domain with a large number of pages, create a sitemap, and then visualize that map in a way that will help me see, understand and group content (I'm new to the site) Something like a tree-view or other standard Site Map visualizations would be great. I am yet unable to find a tool that does this (I've found plenty of things to spider the site and create an xml file, nothing to visualize it) Thanks!

  • Are any of these SQL Queries open to SQL injection attacks?

    - by Phil
    I have re-written my code after great help from some friendly stack overflow members (big thanks to Martin B and Kev Chadders especially). I would now like to check if my code is still open to SQL Injections after this work. I believe the code is now working as it should, but any blinding errors that you see i'd love to hear about too. My code is now looking like: -code removed-

  • Visual C++ preprocessor definitions

    - by alemjerus
    Is there a way to transfer C++ preprocessor definitions into a custom pre-link step procedure call as a command-line parameter or export them into a file any other way? Example: Let's say, I have a c++ project, and in it's Debug configuration I put a preprocessor definition like MAKUMBA_OBA=0x13 Then I add custom pre-link step which executes some javascript like sarahjessicaparker.js /to tomsrhinoplasty $(MAKUMBA_OBA) It would be great, if it just worked, but I never get a third parameter in my js. So the question is: how to pass a preprocessor definition to s script?

  • How do I gather TeamCity code coverage reports from multiple projects into one report?

    - by Loofer
    We use the build in coverage application in TeamCity 6 (about to upgrade to 7.1) If we wish to see the code coverage (or other metrics) of a particular build it is fine as we can navigate to that build, but it would be great if we could pluck out a few interesting metrics from all/some of the current projects/build configurations and display them all together. For convenience I would expect the new display to be accessible from within TeamCity itself, however if there are solutions that require a separate solution we could look at them. Thanks

  • How can I fall in love with Math? Again?

    - by gotts
    After reading How to not sort by average rating by Evan Miller I was really inspired to learn some more math. But after thinking about it for a while I didn't find a way I can use beyond-trivial math in my pet projects.. Or probably it is a moment like "You are not aware that you are not aware" and I should learn more math before I can start to see great examples of how I can apply it?

  • Shell - Run additional command on failure

    - by Shawn
    I have this script that I am currently running that works great for all instances but one: #!/bin/sh pdfopt test.pdf test.opt.pdf &>/dev/null pdf2swf test.opt.pdf test.swf [ "$?" -ne 0 ] && exit 2 More lines to execute follow the above code ... How would I go about changing this script to run "pdf2swf test.pdf test.swf" if "pdf2swf test.opt.pdf test.swf" fails? If the second attempt fails, then I would "exit 2". Thanks

  • jquery tablesorter problem in FF only - header row disappears after show-hide of rows

    - by dac
    When the page loads, all the records show. Sorting works great until show-hide is used to filter the rows so only some show. Then the header row--with the arrows for sorting--DISAPPEARS. The problem is only in Firefox. It works great in IE7 and IE8. I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 from google. Code for show-hide $(document).ready(function() { // show all the rows $("#org_status tr").show(); //find selected filter $("#filter_status a").click(function(evt) { evt.preventDefault(); $("#org_status tr").hide(); var id = $(this).attr('id'); $("." + id).show(); }); }); Here is the HTML: <!-- show-hide "buttons" --> <p id='filter_status'>Filter by status: <a href='#' id='All'>All</a> <a href='#' id='Active'>Active</a> <a href='#' id='Inactive'>Inactive</a> <a href='#' id='Pending'>Pending</a> </p> <!-- table to sort -> <table id='org_status' class='info_table tablesorter'> <thead> <tr> <th class='org-name-col'>Name</th> <th class='org-status-col'>Status</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr class='All Active'> <td><a href='admin/org_edit.php?org=29'>Foo Net</a></td> <td>Active</td>"; </tr> <tr class='All Inactive'> <td><a href='admin/org_edit.php?org=22'>Bar</a></td> <td>Active</td>"; </tr> <tr class='All Pending'> <td><a href='admin/org_edit.php?org=11'> Bar Foo Very Long Org Name Goes Here</a></td> <td>Active</td>"; </tr> </tbody> </table>

  • Recommended NetBeans UML plugins

    - by Thomas Owens
    It appears that the NetBeans UML plugin has been discontinued, as per a discussion on the NetBeans forums. This was a great, free tool with nice model-code and code-model generation. There are a number of other UML NetBeans plugins out there. However, I've never used any of them. Any suggestions?

  • How can I get Rails to interpret a text field as a datetime

    - by doctororange
    My database has a datetime field, and I want to be able to create new entries. Obviously the Rails datetime_select helper isn't the most user friendly thing to have in your form. I'd rather have a text field for the datetime (or one for the date, and one for the time) and interpret the inputs like PHP strtotime can. I might just be searching the wrong keywords. Surely this has been discussed in great depth somewhere. Thanks :0)

  • Database that consumes less disk space

    - by Hugo Palma
    I'm looking at solutions to store a massive quantity of information consuming the less possible disk space. The information structure is very simple and the queries will also be very simple. I've looked at solutions like Apache Cassandra and relations databases but couldn't find a comparison where disk usage is mentioned. Any ideas on this would be great.

  • Jquery 3d image carousel - IE6 transparency

    - by jsims281
    I'm using the 3d image carousel available at http://www.professorcloud.com/mainsite/carousel.htm . It's great but I've hit a wall with regards to transparency support for IE6. As the images are being manipulated by java after they are loaded, it's quite a headache. All the mainstream png fixes fail in one way or another...either breaking the carousel or being broken by the animation of the carousel. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get round this (without using PNG8, .gif etc).

  • Is there a good Open Source, XSD based Web Editor?

    - by ashansky
    I'm looking for a good open source web editor that will take xsd (or some other standard XML) and from that generate web forms that will enable the end user to generate standard xml (without knowing anything about xml obliviously). I took a look at kupu, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation and the site appears to no longer exist. Is there anything out there that does this already. I could write something like this myself, but if there's something that out there that will save me some time that would be great. Thanks
