  • iPhone: Execute code after animation of UIDeviceOrientation change finishes

    - by carloe
Not sure if I can explain this correctly, but I am trying to execute a method device orientation animation finishes. Right now I have [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(didRotate:) name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification object:nil];, but that triggers instantly. Is there a way to have it call didRotate after the view rotation animation is completed? Thanks!

  • navigationController -- advertisement -- tableView in iPhone

    - by SeniorLee
I've already implemented an app that has navigationController at the very top, and it shows tableView at the first, and if it's cell is clicked, another view is pushed into the navigationController. It's just an simple & normal app. But I want to put an ad between the navigationBar and the tableView. I've tried this and that. but it didn't work. Maybe there are several good ways to do it I believe. Hope somebody point me a good tutorial or throw me ideas. thanks.

  • iPhone - Merge keys in a NSArray (Objective-C)

    - by ncohen
Hi everyone, I'm having troubles with arrays and keys... I have an array from my database: NSArray *elementArray = [[[menuArray valueForKey:@"meals"] valueForKey:@"recipe"] valueForKey:@"elements"] The problem here is that I would like all my elements of all my meals of all my menus in an array such that: [elementArray objectAtIndex:0] = my first element etc... In the example above, the elements are separated by the keys. How can I get that? Hope it's clear enough... Thanks

  • sqlite on iphone can open db but not prepare statements

    - by jan
I'm brand new to using sqlite so I may have missed something basic. I've created a database and copied it into my app's document's directory. I'm able to open it but when I make a call to sqlite3_prepare_v2 I receive SQLITE_ERROR, "SQL error or missing database". here's my code: sqlite3 *database; if(sqlite3_open([dbPath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; NSString *sqlStatement = @"select * from dbname"; int result = sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [sqlStatement UTF8String], -1, &compiledStatement, nil); ... } the same sql statement works in the terminal. I've found this question in a few places either without answers or with solutions that don't fix my problem. I'm hoping someone here will be able to help. Thanks.

  • Install webapp to homescreen on iPhone?

    - by Stefan Kendall
How do I go about allowing my webapp to be installed as an icon on a user's homescreen? Is the data cached locally, so that the webapp can be run when the user is outside of 3G? I did a quick google, but my search terms were lacking. I noticed that Google Buzz allowed me to install locally, and I'm wondering what the process is for creating web apps, and if they get special treatment (full caching/running offline).

  • stack and heap issue for iPhone memory management

    - by Forrest
From this post I got know that the Objective-C runtime does not allow objects to be instantiated on the stack, but only on the heap; this means that you don’t have “automatic objects”, nor things like auto_ptr objects to help you manage memory; Someone give one example in post Objective C: Memory Allocation on stack vs. heap NSString* str = @"hello"; but this NSString is also not allocated in stack. Feel odd that this str is static. (Who can explain this ? ) Question here is that why there is no heap ? even mixing c++ together with Object C ? /////////////////////////////// Clear my question /////////////////////////////// I am confused , so questions are not clear. Let me put in this way. 1) All Object C objects should be alloc in stack ? ( I think yes ) 2)In C++, there are stack for memory, so for iOS app, also have stack ? ( I think yes ) 3) for iOS app, if only use Object C, so what is the usage of stack ? what kind of objects should use stack then ?

  • How to crop Image in iPhone?

    - by aman-gupta
Hi, In my application I m using following codes to crop the captured image :- -(void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *) picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { #ifdef _DEBUG NSLog(@"frmSkinImage-imagePickerController-Start"); #endif imageView.image = [info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; //======================================= UIImage *image =imageView.image; CGRect cropRect = CGRectMake(100, 100, 125,128); CGImageRef imageRef = CGImageCreateWithImageInRect([image CGImage], cropRect); [imageView setImage:[UIImage imageWithCGImage:imageRef]]; CGImageRelease(imageRef); //=================================================== //imgglobal = [info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; // for saving image to photo album //UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(imageView.image, self, @selector(image:didFinishSavingWithError:contextInfo:), self); [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; #ifdef _DEBUG NSLog(@"frmSkinImage-imagePickerController-End"); #endif } But my problem is that when I use camera to take photo to crop the captured image it rotates the image to 90 degree towards right and in case I use Photo library it works perfectly. So Can u filter my above codes to know where I m wrong. Please help me out its urgent Thanks In Advance

  • iPhone Simulator chrashes in NSKeyedUnarchiver after setting base SDK

    - by Florian
Hi! I started a project in xcode (3.2 on snow leopard) with base sdk 3.1.2. Now I changed this setting to 3.0 and it compiles without a warning. There are no problems running the app on the device, but the simulator crashes on launch every time with the following exception: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '[NSKeyedUnarchiver initForReadingWithData:]: incomprehensible archive (0x4e, 0x49, 0x42, 0x41, 0x72, 0x63, 0x68, 0x69)' I do not use the NSKeyedUnarchiver, so why is the app trying to call it? And what archive is incomprehensible? I reset the simulator before building, so there are no userDefaults or anything else around. Thanks for your help!

  • Preventing mouse emulation events (ie click) from touch events in Mobile Safari / iPhone using Javas

    - by Jaime Cham
In doing a single page Javascript app with interactive DOM elements I've found that the "mouseover-mousemove-mousedown-mouseup-click" sequence happens all in a bunch after the "touchstart-touchmove-touchend" sequence of events. I've also found that it is possible to prevent the "mouse*-click" events from happening by doing an "event.preventDefault()" during the touchstart event, but only then, and not during the touchmove and touchend. This is a strange design, because because it is not possible to know during the touchstart yet whether the user intents to drag or swipe or just tap/click on the item. I ended up setting up a "ignore_next_click" flag somewhere tied to a timestamp, but this is obviously not very clean. Does anybody know of a better way of doing this, or are we missing something? Note that while a "click" can be recognized as a "touchstart-touchend" sequence (ie no "touchmove"), there are certain things, such as keyboard input focus, that can only happen during a proper click event.

  • iPhone smooth move and pinch of UIImageView

    - by Jacob
    I have an image view that I'm wanting to be able to move around, and pinch to stretch it. It's all working, but it's kinda jumpy when I start to do any pinch movements. The position will jump back and forth between the two fingers. - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { startLocation = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:mouth_handle]; if([touches count] == 2) { NSArray *twoTouches = [touches allObjects]; UITouch *first = [twoTouches objectAtIndex:0]; UITouch *second = [twoTouches objectAtIndex:1]; initialDistance = distanceBetweenPoints([first locationInView:mouth_handle],[second locationInView:mouth_handle]); } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint pt = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:mouth_handle]; CGRect frame = [mouth_handle frame]; frame.origin.x += pt.x - startLocation.x; frame.origin.y += pt.y - startLocation.y; frame.origin.x = (frame.origin.x < 58) ? 58 : frame.origin.x; frame.origin.x = (frame.origin.x > (260 - mouth_handle.frame.size.width)) ?   • iPhone Orientation Relayout From Single Column to Double Column

    - by kkrizka
I am trying to create a UIView in Interface Builder that shows to the user two boxes containing some text. This UIView should support both landscape and portrait modes. When in portrait orientation, the two boxes should be centered horizontally and be under each other. Like in the picture below: But when in landscape orientation, it should show the two boxes centered vertically and by side by side. Like in the picture below: Is this possible using only the autosizing options (or any other IB options), or do I have to relayout the view in code on orientation change events? I would prefer using only IB. I tried locking the top and left margins of the top box and locking the bottom and right margins of the bottom box. But the problem is that for it to work I also need to shrink the two boxes as one changes from portrait to landscape, because otherwise they would overlap.

  • javascript scroll event for iPhone/iPad ?

    - by _ck_
I can't seem to capture the scroll event on an iPad. None of these work, what I am doing wrong? window.onscroll=myFunction; document.onscroll=myFunction; window.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction, false); document.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction, false); They all work even on Safari 3 on Windows. Ironically, EVERY browser on the PC supports window.onload= if you don't mind clobbering existing events. But no go on iPad.

  • Justifying UIVIews on the iPhone: Algorithm Help

    - by coneybeare
I have been messing around with a way to justify align a collection of UIView subclasses within a containing view. I am having a little bit of trouble with the algorithm and was hoping someone could help spot my errors. Here is pseudocode of where I am now: // 1 see how many items there are int count = [items count]; // 2 figure out how much white space is left in the containing view float whitespace = [containingView width] - [items totalWidth]; // 3 Figure out the extra left margin to be applied to items[1] through items[count-1] float margin = whitespace/(count-1); // 4 Figure out the size of every subcontainer if it was evenly split float subcontainerWidth = [containingView width]/count; // 5 Apply the margin, starting at the second item for (int i = 1; i < [items count]; i++) { UIView *item = [items objectAtIndex:i]; [item setLeftMargin:(margin + i*subcontainerWidth)]; } The items do not appear to be evenly spaced here. Not even close. Where am I going wrong? Here is a shot of this algorithm in action: EDIT: The code above is pseudocode. I added the actual code here but it might not make sense if you are not familiar with the three20 project. @implementation TTTabStrip (JustifiedBarCategory) - (CGSize)layoutTabs { CGSize size = [super layoutTabs]; CGPoint contentOffset = _scrollView.contentOffset; _scrollView.frame = self.bounds; _scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(size.width + kTabMargin, self.height); CGFloat contentWidth = size.width + kTabMargin; if (contentWidth < _scrollView.size.width) { // do the justify logic // see how many items there are int count = [_tabViews count]; // 2 figure out how much white space is left float whitespace = _scrollView.size.width - contentWidth; // 3 increase the margin on those items somehow to reflect. it should be (whitespace) / count-1 float margin = whitespace/(count-1); // 4 figure out starting point float itemWidth = (_scrollView.size.width-kTabMargin)/count; // apply the margin for (int i = 1; i < [_tabViews count]; i++) { TTTab *tab = [_tabViews objectAtIndex:i]; [tab setLeft:(margin + i*itemWidth)]; } } else { // do the normal, scrollbar logic _scrollView.contentOffset = contentOffset; } return size; } @end

  • Setting ivar in objective-c from child view in the iPhone

    - by Ivan
Hi there! Maybe a FAQ at this website. I have a TableViewController that holds a form. In that form I have two fields (each in it's own cell): one to select who paid (single selection), and another to select people expense is paid for (multiple selection). Both fields open a new TableViewController included in an UINavigationController. Single select field (Paid By) holds an object Membership Multiple select field (Paid For) holds an object NSMutableArray Both vars are being sent to the new controller identically the same way: mySingleSelectController.crSelectedMember = self.crPaidByMember; myMultipleSelectController.crSelectedMembers = self.crSelectedMembers; From Paid for controller I use didSelectAtIndexPath method to set a mutable array of Memberships for whom is paid: if ([[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath] accessoryType] == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark) { [self.crSelectedMembers removeObject:[self.crGroupMembers objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; //... } else { [self.crSelectedMembers addObject:[self.crGroupMembers objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; //... } So far everything goes well. An mutable array (crSelectedMembers) is perfectly set from child view. But... I have trouble setting Membership object. From Paid By controller I use didSelectAtIndexPath to set Membership: [self setCrSelectedMember:[crGroupMembers objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; By NSlogging crSelectedMember I get the right selected member in self, but in parent view, to which ivar is pointed, nothing is changed. Am I doing something wrong? Cause I CAN call the method of crSelectedMembers, but I can't change the value of crSelectedMember.

  • iPhone -- MKReverseGeocoder.adminstrativeArea -- getting state abbreviation

    - by rayjohannessen
In the documentation for MKReverseGeocoder, the administrativeArea property gives you the current state the user is in, and it mentions in an example that it returns EITHER the state name OR its abbreviation. I am wondering if anyone knows how to get the abbreviation instead of the full state name...I have been able to find nothing that shows this is even a possibility besides that brief example that doesn't mention HOW. Thanks!

  • iPhone SQLite Password Field Encryption

    - by Louis Russell
Good Afternoon Guys and Girls, Hopefully this will be a quick and easy question. I am building an App that requires the user to input their login details for an online service that it links to. Multiple login details can be added and saved as the user may have several accounts that they would like to switch between. These details will be stored in an SQLite database and will contain their passwords. Now the questions are: 1: Should these passwords be encrypted in the database? My instinct would say yes but then I do not know how secure the device and system is and if this is necessary. 2: If they should be encrypted what should I use? I think encrypting the whole database file sounds a bit over-kill so should I just encrypt the password before saving it to the database? If this is case what could I use to achieve this? I have found reference to a "crypt(3)" but am having trouble finding much about it or how to implement it. I eagerly await your replies!

  • iPhone UI addSubview causing concurrency exception

    - by Eli
This is really odd... I run my app, and while it is opening and the views are constructing I get: Collection <CALayerArray: 0x124650> was mutated while being enumerated. The code trace goes through the following: main UIApplicationMain -[UIApplication _run] CFRunLoopRunInMode CFRunLoopRunSpecific _UIApplicationHandleEvent -[UIApplication sendEvent:] -[UIApplication handleEvent:withNewEvent:] -[UIApplication _runWithURL:sourceBundleID:] -[UIApplication _performInitilizationWithURL:sourceBundleID:] -[AppDelegate applicationDidFinishLaunching:] +[Controller initializeController] //This is my own function [window addSubview: pauseMenuController.view] //This is the last point of my code it goes through -[UIView(Hierarchy) addSubview:] -[UIView(Internal) _addSubview:positioned:relativeTo:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] _NSFastEnumerationMutationHandler objc_exception_throw I've run the game lots and lots and lots of times and I've never seen this, then suddenly it popped up. The weird thing is that I'm not creating any other threads (that I know of) until after this code all gets called. It'll be easier for me to debug this if someone can give me some explanation of what might be getting modified while it's being accessed in a UIView. Does it have something to do with adding something to the view while it's already adding something, maybe? Any ideas?

  • How to know when StatusBar size changed (iPhone)

    - by JOM
I have UITabBarController with 2 tabs. One resizes just fine, when StatusBar size changes (emulator "Toggle In-Call Status Bar" menu item). The other one doesn't. The problematic tab item contains a static view, which dynamically loads one or another view depending on certain things. While getting this setup working I discovered that main tab view did NOT automagically send e.g. viewWillAppear and viewWillDisappear messages to my dynamic subviews. Apple docs explained this was because dynamically added views were not recognized by the system. @interface MyTabViewController : UIViewController { UIView *mainView; FirstViewController *aController; SecondViewController *bController; } ... if (index == 0) { self.aController = [[FirstViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FirstViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.mainView addSubview:aController.view]; [self.aController viewWillAppear:YES]; } How can I get StatusBar size changed event into my dynamic subviews? The "didChangeStatusBarFrame" doesn't work, as documented elsewhere.

  • iPhone UIView frame animation inconsistent why?

    - by Rick
I have an app that uses an image loaded in from an UIImagePickerController instance. Once the picker is dismissed so as to reduce the jarring transition from the picker layout to the layout of the next function I initially have the UIImageView for the image fill the whole screen and then when the picker is dismissed the image 'squeezes' up to the top left of the screen. from the initWithFrame... targetPicView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 320.0, 480.0)]; [targetPicView setContentMode:UIViewContentModeScaleToFill]; this in a function called after dismissing the picker... [UIView beginAnimations:@"squeeze" context:context]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.75]; [targetPicView setFrame:CGRectMake(20.0, 20.0, 130.0, 150.0)]; [UIView commitAnimations]; The weird thing is that this works great when the image has been chosen from the library, the view shrinks down with the top left corner in place just as I planned but... If the image comes from the camera then the view shrinks with the top right corner in place instead and appears to come in from the left side of the screen. Can anyone shed any light on this?

  • handleOpenURL not called using a custom url schema in iPhone OS

    - by favo
Hi, I have successfuly added my own url schemes to my App. The App correctly launches using the schemes. Now I want to handle the incoming data but the delegate is not called. It is an universal app and I have added the following function to both AppDelegates: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application handleOpenURL:(NSURL *)url { if (!url) { return NO; } NSString *URLString = [url absoluteString]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"test message", nil) message:URLString delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:@"OK", nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return YES; } I am testing with a schema like: myapp://appalarm.com …and would expect to be appalarm.com in the URLString What is wrong with it? Thanks for your responses!

  • Using iphone accelerometer AND UIEventSubtypeMotionShake event simultaneousluy.

    - by lukya
Hi, I am using accelerometer to move/change things on the screen in my app. I also need to detect UIEventSubtypeMotionShake in the view controller for some other animations. As my app is a simple view based app, there is just one view controller which acts as UIAccelerometerDelegate AND FirstResponder (for detecting the shake event). After the first Shake gesture is detected, I don’t need accelerometer inputs through [accelerometer didAccelerate] method so I set the accelerometer delegate to nil. -(void)motionEnded:(UIEventSubtype)motion withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if (motion == UIEventSubtypeMotionShake) { NSLog(@"shake"); [[UIAccelerometer sharedAccelerometer] setDelegate:nil]; //my shake handling code } } The problem is that the first shake motion is not being detected correctly. I have to shake 2 3 or more times to trigger the UIEventSubtypeMotionShake event, while the subsequent shakes, after the accelerometer delegate is made nil, are being detected perfectly. This must be happening because UIEventSubtypeMotionShake in turn depends on the accelerometer didAccelerate events which are being overridden by my code. But I need to use both the events. Are there any apps or code samples which use both accelerometer and UIEventSubtypeMotionShake simultaneously? Thanks Swapnil
