• Can I make gcc tell me when a calculation results in NaN or inf at runtime?

  Is there a way to tell gcc to throw a SIGFPE or something similar in response to a calculation that results in NaN or (-)inf at runtime, like it would for a divide-by-zero? I've tried the -fsignaling-nans flag, which doesn't seem to help.

Should I save something like 0111111 (zero means closed on sunday) on the same field and split the result when reading the data? Or create a field for each day and store 0 or 1 on each (weird)?

  usually, symbolic functions return vectors for vector inputs: syms('x'); f=x*2; subs(f,[1 2 3]) outputs: [2 4 6] but doing f=sym('0'); subs(f,[1 2 3]); outputs: 0 and not: [0 0 0] so basically, my questions is how do I make f behave as a "normal" symbolic function. I can do something ugly like f=x-x to create a function that always returns zero, but is there a prettier way?
