  • match strings in python

    - by mesun
Write a function, called constrainedMatchPair which takes three arguments: a tuple representing starting points for the first substring, a tuple representing starting points for the second substring, and the length of the first substring. The function should return a tuple of all members (call it n) of the first tuple for which there is an element in the second tuple (call it k) such that n+m+1 = k, where m is the length of the first substring. Complete the definition def constrainedMatchPair(firstMatch, secondMatch, length):

  • How do I use "Into" LINQ expression in VB.NET?

    - by SLC
I'm converting from C# this LINQ expression. However, it does not seem to work. C# return (from w in fishSticks group w by w.FishQty into g orderby g.Key descending select g).First().First(); VB Return (From w In fishSticks Group w By w.FishQty Into g() Order By g.Key Descending Select g).First().First() Visual Studio turns g into g() itself and then gives me this error: Definition of method 'g' is not accessible in this context. Any ideas?

  • In Java, is it possible for a super constructor invocation actually invoke a constructor in the calling class?

    - by John Assymptoth
Super constructor invocation definition: [Primary.] [NonWildTypeArguments] super ( ArgumentListopt ) ; A super constructor call can be prefixed by an Primary expression. Example (taken from JLS): class Outer { class Inner{ } } class ChildOfInner extends Outer.Inner { ChildOfInner() { (new Outer()).super(); // (new Outer()) is the Primary } } Does a Primary expression exist that makes the call to super() the invocation of a constructor of the calling class? Or Java prevents that?

  • Are weekly reports necessary?

    - by Dbger
At the times that we didn't use Scrum, we had weekly status meeting and technical discussion; And now after we adopt Scrum, we have daily stand up meeting. But for both cases, weekly reports are always a necessity, although I don't see much value of doing this in our development team. What do you think of weekly report? what benefit that you got from it if your like it?

  • C# Compiler Directives

    - by pm_2
I’m looking at some C# code, and have come across the following statement: #if DEBUG // Do something here #else // Do something else #endif I assumed that DEBUG would be a defined somewhere as follows: #define DEBUG But I’m unable to find such a definition, although the code seems to behave as though it were set. Is DEBUG a special case, and if so, how is it set / unset?

  • help me understand the method Validator.TryValidateObject()

    - by Benny
this is the method definition: public static bool TryValidateObject( Object instance, ValidationContext validationContext, ICollection<ValidationResult> validationResults, bool validateAllProperties ) what i am confused is the validateAllProperties parameter, I understand when it is true-validate all properties. What about when it is false, not validate all properties, but which property will be validated?

  • Max size of localStorage values?

    - by user269386
Hi, since the localStorage (currently) only supports strings as values and in order to that the objects have to be stringified (stored as JSON-string), before they can be stored, i wondered if there is a defined limitation regarding the length of the values. Does anyone know if there is a definition which applies to all browsers, respectively does anyone know the limitations for Chrome5? Thanks, in advance, for your help

  • microsoft access query speed...

    - by V.S.
Hello everyone! I am now writing a report about MS Access and I can't find any information about its performance speed in comparison to other alternatives such as Micorsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc... It's obvious that MS Access is going to be the slowest among the rest, but there is no solid documents confirming this other than forums threads, and I don't have the time and resources to do the research myself :( Hoping for your help, V.S.

  • GAE HTTP method support

    - by areich
I get an "unrecognized HTTP method" when trying to do a REPORT request using httplib and gae. Is there a workaround available? An httplib patch for gae? Do you I have to find another host in order to do this natively? According to the docs, only certain fetch actions are valid: GET, POST, HEAD, PUT, and DELETE: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/urlfetch/ fetchfunction.html

  • Redundant assert statements in .NET unit test framework

    - by Prabhu
Isn't it true that every assert statement can be translated to an Assert.IsTrue, since by definition, you are asserting whether something is true or false? Why is it that test frameworks introduce options like AreEquals, IsNotNull, and especially IsFalse? I feel I spend too much time thinking about which Assert to use when I write unit tests.

  • What's the BPF for HTTP?

    - by Gtker
The definition can be seen here. The candidate answer may be tcp and dst port 80,but can tcp and dst port 80 guarantee it's HTTP traffic and includes all HTTP traffic? It seems not, because some site can be visited by specifying a different port other than 80 this way: http://domain.name:8080 So my question is: what's the exact BPF for HTTP?
