  • Error Converting PIL B&W images to Numpy Arrays

    - by Elliot
I am getting weird errors when I try to convert a black and white PIL image to a numpy array. An example of the code I am working with is below. if image.mode != '1': image = image.convert('1') #convert to B&W data = np.array(image) #convert data to a numpy array n_lines = data.shape[0] #number of raster passes line_range = range(data.shape[1]) for l in range(n_lines): # process one horizontal line of the image line = data[l] for n in line_range: if line[n] == 1: write_line_to(xl, z+scale*n, speed) #conversion to other program code elif line[n] == 0: run_to(xl, z+scale*n) #conversion to other program code I have tried this using both array and asarray for the conversion, and gotten different errors. If I use array, then the data I get out is nothing like what I put in. It looks like several very shrunken partial images side by side, with the remainder of the image space filled in in black. If I use asarray, then the entirety of python crashes during the raster step (on a random line). If I work with a greyscale image ('L'), then neither of these errors occurs for either array or asarray. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Is there something odd about the way PIL encodes B&W images, or something special I need to pass numpy to make it convert properly?

  • How to genrate a monochrome bit mask for a 32bit bitmap

    - by Mordachai
Under Win32, it is a common technique to generate a monochrome bitmask from a bitmap for transparency use by doing the following: SetBkColor(hdcSource, clrTransparency); VERIFY(BitBlt(hdcMask, 0, 0, bm.bmWidth, bm.bmHeight, hdcSource, 0, 0, SRCCOPY)); This assumes that hdcSource is a memory DC holding the source image, and hdcMask is a memory DC holding a monochrome bitmap of the same size (so both are 32x32, but the source is 4 bit color, while the target is 1bit monochrome). However, this seems to fail for me when the source is 32 bit color + alpha. Instead of getting a monochrome bitmap in hdcMask, I get a mask that is all black. No bits get set to white (1). Whereas this works for the 4bit color source. My search-foo is failing, as I cannot seem to find any references to this particular problem. I have isolated that this is indeed the issue in my code: i.e. if I use a source bitmap that is 16 color (4bit), it works; if I use a 32 bit image, it produces the all-black mask. Is there an alternate method I should be using in the case of 32 bit color images? Is there an issue with the alpha channel that overrides the normal behavior of the above technique? Thanks for any help you may have to offer! ADDENDUM: I am still unable to find a technique that creates a valid monochrome bitmap for my GDI+ produced source bitmap. I have somewhat alleviated my particular issue by simply not generating a monochrome bitmask at all, and instead I'm using TransparentBlt(), which seems to get it right (but I don't know what they're doing internally that's any different that allows them to correctly mask the image). It might be useful to have a really good, working function: HBITMAP CreateTransparencyMask(HDC hdc, HBITMAP hSource, COLORREF crTransparency); Where it always creates a valid transparency mask, regardless of the color depth of hSource. Ideas?

  • jQuery UI slider coming out looking wierd

    - by jondavidjohn
http://cl.ly/2W1V3s0G2G3y3D133I3U <--screenshot of rendered slider It acts normally by clicking the inner whitespace of the slider and dragging, values act accordingly, but the handles do not move and fill the area, and the line at the top grows/shrinks with the difference of the two values. Here is the code I am using to initiate the slider. $('.sliderific').each(function(){ alert($(this).attr('id')); $(this).slider({ range: true, min: 0, max: 500, values: [ 75, 300 ], slide: function( event, ui ) { $(this).nextAll('.left:first').text(ui.values[ 0 ]); $(this).nextAll('.right:first').text(ui.values[ 1 ]); } }); }); and here is the DOM it's being applied to... <div class="white notwide"> <div id="price-slider" class="sliderific"></div> <span class="em small gray left center">Min Price</span> <span class="em small gray right center">Max Price </span> </div> EDIT : Also, I have verified I am including the proper css and the jquery theme images are connecting and being loaded.

  • problem loading texture with transparency with OpenGL ES and Android

    - by Evan Kimia
    Im trying to load an image that has background transparency that will be layered over another texture. When i try and load it, all i get is a white screen. The texture is 512 by 512, and its saved in photoshop as a 24 bit PNG (standard PNG specs in the Photoshop Save for Web and Devices config window). Any idea why its not showing? The texture without transparency shows without a problem. Here is my loadTextures method: public void loadGLTexture(GL10 gl, Context context) { //Get the texture from the Android resource directory Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(context.getResources(), R.drawable.m1); Bitmap normalScheduleLines = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(context.getResources(), R.drawable.m1n); //Generate texture pointers... gl.glGenTextures(3, textures, 0); //...and bind it to our array gl.glBindTexture(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, textures[1]); //Create Nearest Filtered Texture gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL10.GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL10.GL_LINEAR); gl.glTexParameterf(GL11.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL11.GL_GENERATE_MIPMAP, GL11.GL_TRUE); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S, GL10.GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T, GL10.GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE); GLUtils.texImage2D(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, bitmap, 0); bitmap.recycle(); //Bind our normal schedule bus map lines gl.glBindTexture(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, textures[0]); //Create Nearest Filtered Texture gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL10.GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL10.GL_LINEAR); gl.glTexParameterf(GL11.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL11.GL_GENERATE_MIPMAP, GL11.GL_TRUE); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S, GL10.GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE); gl.glTexParameterf(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL10.GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T, GL10.GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE); GLUtils.texImage2D(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL10.GL_RGBA, normalScheduleLines, 0); normalScheduleLines.recycle(); }

  • Choosing circle radius to fully fill a rectangle

    - by Andy
Hi, the pixman image library can draw radial color gradients between two circles. I'd like the radial gradient to fill a rectangular area defined by "width" and "height" completely. Now my question, how should I choose the radius of the outer circle? My current parameters are the following: A) inner circle (start of gradient) center pointer of inner circle: (width*0.5|height*0.5) radius of inner circle: 1 color: black B) outer circle (end of gradient) center pointer of outer circle: (width*0.5|height*0.5) radius of outer circle: ??? color: white How should I choose the radius of the outer circle to make sure that the outer circle will entirely fill my bounding rectangle defined by width*height. There shall be no empty areas in the corners, the area shall be completely covered by the circle. In other words, the bounding rectangle width, height must fit entirely into the outer circle. Choosing outer_radius = max(width, height) * 0.5 as the radius for the outer circle is obviously not enough. It must be bigger, but how much bigger? Thanks!

  • How do you ensure a <td> is exactly 200px tall?

    - by George Edison
I have a table with an image inside: <table style="border: 3px solid rgb(0, 0, 0); width: 800px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-collapse: collapse;"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="text-align: center; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;"><img style="width: 800px; height: 200px; border: 0px;" alt="Logo" src="logo.png"> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> No matter what I do, there is still a little sliver of white at the bottom of the image. A quick check with Chrome's Inspector reveals that the td has a height of 204px! How can I force the td to be the same height as the image? As you can see above, I've tried all sorts of things...

  • css problem - 'post link'

    - by csetzkorn
Hi, I am no css expert so I am wondering whether someone could help. I have several forms to delete an item like this: <form action="/Items/DeleteItem" class="deleteForm" method="post"> Some text <input id="Id" name="Id" value="14014" type="hidden"> <input value="Delete" class="link_button" type="submit"> </form> This should look like this: Some text Delete Here ‘Some text’ describes the item and Delete is a ‘link’ which performs a post request to delete the item (as virtually all browsers only support the post and get requests). I have started to style things (CSS below) but the ‘Delete’ ‘link’ is still slightly offset in relation to ‘Some text’ (at least in firefox). I would appreciate any help with the css. Thanks! .link_button { background-color:white; border:0; color:#034af3; text-decoration:underline; font-size:1em; font-family:inherit; cursor:pointer; float:left; margin:0; padding:0; } .deleteForm { float:right; margin:0; padding:0; } Christian

  • Jquery fade and swap an element when clicked which will also relate to an accordian menu

    - by Nik
    You will notice when you click posture 1 the description drops down and images appear on the right. Now when you click posture 2 or posture 3 the images and description change as they should. What I need to do now is - If posture 1 has been clicked and then posture 2 is clicked the posture 1 menu needs to close so that there is only one posture description visible at one time. If I could also make it so that if the current open posture item is clicked so that it closes and there are no open posture descriptions that there also no images displayed on the right. Finally is there a way to make sure only one set of animation images is running, because just say the user goes through all 26 options and they continue to run in the background it may get sluggish (thanks to Nick Craver for bringing that up). At this stage only posture 1, 2 and 3 are available. Ok finally some code - //Description drop-down boxes $(document).ready(function(){ //Hide (Collapse) the toggle containers on load $(".toggle_container").hide(); //Switch the "Open" and "Close" state per click $("h5.trigger").toggle(function(){ $(this).addClass("active"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("active"); }); //Slide up and down on click $("h5.trigger").click(function(){ $(this).next(".toggle_container").slideToggle("slow"); }); }); //Images on the right fade in and out thanks to aSeptik $(document).ready(function(){ $('#section_Q_01,#section_Q_02,#section_Q_03').hide(); $(function() { $('h5.trigger a').click( function(e) { e.preventDefault(); var trigger_id = $(this).parent().attr('id'); //get id Q_## $('.current').removeClass('current').hide(); //add a class for easy access & hide $('#section_' + trigger_id).addClass('current').fadeIn(5000); //show clicked one }); }); }); //Fading pics $(document).ready(function(){ $('.pics').cycle({ fx: 'fade', speed: 2500 }); }); Description boxes - <h5 class="trigger" id="Q_01" ><a href="#">Posture 1 : Standing Deep Breathing :</a></h5> <div class="toggle_container" > <div class="block"> <span class="sc">Pranayama Series</span> <p class="bold">Benefits:</p> </div> </div> <h5 class="trigger" id="Q_02" ><a href="#">Posture 2 : Half Moon Pose With Hands To Feet Pose :</a></h5> <div class="toggle_container"> <div class="block"> <span class="sc">Ardha Chandrasana with Pada-Hastasana</span> <p class="bold">Benefits:</p> </div> </div> <h5 class="trigger" id="Q_03" ><a href="#">Posture 3 : Awkward Pose :</a></h5> <div class="toggle_container"> <div class="block"> <span class="sc">Utkatasana</span> <p class="bold">Benefits:</p> </div> </div> and the images on the right - <div id="section_Q_01" class="01"> <div class="pics"> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose1/Pranayama._01.jpg"/> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose1/Pranayama._02.jpg"/> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose1/Pranayama._03.jpg"/> </div> </div> <div id="section_Q_02" class="02"> <div class="pics"> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose2/Half_Moon_Pose_04.jpg" /> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose2/Backward_Bending_05.jpg" /> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose2/Hands_to_Feet_Pose_06.jpg" /> </div> </div> <div id="section_Q_03" class="03"> <div class="pics"> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose3/Awkward_01.jpg" /> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose3/Awkward_02.jpg" /> <img src="../images/multi/poses/pose3/Awkward_03.jpg" /> </div> </div> It would be a bonus if images faded out when another element is clicked... but not a big deal.   • Can't get focus on a TextBox inside a ListBox using Silverlight

    I'm having a little trouble in silverlight with a listBox containing databound textBox elements. The items display correctly in the list and the textBox is populated correctly but I can't get focus on the text box in the list. If I hover over the edges of the textBox it highlights but it won't let me click into it to edit the text. Any ideas? My XAML looks like this: <ListBox x:Name="listImages"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White"> <Image Height="102" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="imgThumb" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="155" Source="{Binding ImageFilename, Converter={StaticResource ImageConverter}}" /> <TextBox Height="23" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="154,25,0,0" Name="txtAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" Text="{Binding Alt}" /> <dataInput:Label Height="19" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="154,6,0,0" Name="lblAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" Content="Alt Text" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox>

  • Reducing moire when downsampling halftone comic images.

    - by drawnonward
How can I reduce moire effects when downsampling halftone comic book images during live zoom on an iPhone or iPad? I am writing a comic book viewer. It would be nice to provide higher resolution images and allow the user to zoom in while reading the comic book. However, my client is averse to moire effects and will not allow this feature if there are noticeable moire artifacts while zooming, which of course there are. Modifying the images to be less susceptible to moire would only work if the modifications were not perceptible. Blur was specifically prohibited, as is anything that removes the beloved halftone dots. The images are black and white halftone and line art. The originals are 600 dpi but what we ship with the application will be half that at best, so probably 2500 pixels or less tall. So what are my options? If I write a custom downsampling algorithm would it be fast enough for real time on these devices? Are there other tricks I can do? Would it work to just avoid the size ratios that have the most visual moire effects? As you zoom in an out, there are definitely peaks where the moire effects are worst. Is there a way to calculate what those points are and just zoom to a nearby scale that is not as bad? Any suggestions are welcome. I have very little experience with image and signal processing, but am enjoying the opportunity to learn. I know nothing of wavelets and acutance and other jargon, so please be verbose.

I am toying around with an MVC application just to learn the technology. I am mocking up a check register application that keeps track of a checking account, what has cleared the bank and what has not. I am using EF for my model and everything seems to be working correctly insofar as Edit, Create, etc. However, I have a couple of totals at the top. One to show the bank's balance and another to show the actual balance. It works most of the time but when I do Edit's it does not always accurately reflect the new total and I need it to update everytime a change is made (i.e when something clears the bank): [Authorize(Roles = "admin, checkUser")] public ActionResult Index() { var resultSet = from myChecking in chk.tblCheckings orderby myChecking.id descending select myChecking; ViewData.Model = resultSet.Take(45).ToList(); //for balances var actualBalance = from theChecking in chk.tblCheckings select theChecking.deposit - theChecking.withdrawal; var bankBalance = from theChecking in chk.tblCheckings where theChecking.cleared == true select theChecking.deposit - theChecking.withdrawal; //get bank balance ViewData["bankBalance"] = bankBalance.Sum(); //get actual balance ViewData["actualBalance"] = actualBalance.Sum(); return View(); } I am showing the actual and other balance in the Index view as follows: <td colspan="9" style="text-align: center; font-size: 11pt; color: white;"> <%= string.Format("Bank Balance: {0:c}", ViewData["bankBalance"]) %> ------ <%= string.Format("Actual Balance: {0:c}", ViewData["actualBalance"]) %> </td>

  • File Handler returning garbled files.

    - by forcripesake
For the past 3 months my site has been using a PHP file handler in combination with htaccess. Users accessing the uploads folder of the site would be redirected to the handler as such: RewriteRule ^(.+)\.*$ downloader.php?f=%{REQUEST_FILENAME} [L] The purpose of the file handler is pseudo coded below, followed by actual code. //Check if file exists and user is downloading from uploads directory; True. //Check against a file type white list and set the mime type(); $ctype = mime type; header("Pragma: public"); // required header("Expires: 0"); header("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0"); header("Cache-Control: private",false); // required for certain browsers header("Content-Type: $ctype"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"".basename($filename)."\";" ); header("Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary"); header("Content-Length: ".filesize($filename)); readfile("$filename"); As of yesterday, the handler started returning garbled files, unreadable images, and had to be bypassed. I'm wondering what settings could have gone awry to cause this.

  • URL rewriting to a common end point

    - by sunil
I want to create an asp.net white-label site http://whitelabel.com, that could be styled for each of our clients according to their specific needs. So for example, client abc would see the site in their corporate colours and be accessed through their specific url http://abc.com. Likewise client xyz would see the site in their own styling and url http://xyz.com. Typing either url, in effect, takes the user to http://whitelabel.com where the styling is applied, and the client's url structure is retained. I was thinking of URL rewriting using URLRewriter.Net (http://urlrewriter.net/), or similar, mapping the incoming address to a client id and applying the theme accordingly. So, a url rewrite rule may be something like <rewrite url="http//abc.com/(.+)" to="~/$1?id=1" /> <rewrite url="http//xyz.com/(.+)" to="~/$1?id=2" /> I could then read the id, map it to the client, and with a bit of jiggery-pokery, apply the correct theme. I was wondering if: this is the right approach ? I've overlooked something ? there is a better way to do this ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • PHP Resize image down and crop using imagemagick

    - by mr12086
I'm trying to downsize image uploaded by users at the time of upload. This is no problem but I want to get specific with sizes now. I'm looking for some advice on an algorithm im struggling to produce that will take any shape image - square or rectangle of any widths/heights and downsize it. This image needs to be downsized to a target box size (this changes but is stored in a variable).. So it needs to downsize the image so that both the width and height are larger than the width and height of the target maintaining aspect ratio. but only just.. The target size will be used to crop the image so there is no white space around the edges etc. I'm looking for just the algorithm behind creating the correct resize based on different dimension images - I can handle the cropping, even resizing in most cases but it fails in a few so i'm reaching out. I'm not really asking for PHP code more pseudo. Either is fine obviously. Thanks Kindly.

  • ASP.NET error on Bitmap.Save "Exception (0x80004005): A generic error occurred in GDI+."

    - by Batu
Hi, I have a function which first reads an image from disk, resizes it and then saves to another directory. when i use the Bitmap.Save(directory + theimagename) it returns the error as i stated in the question title. i checked the directory is right, and the given image name doesn't exist in that dir. what is weird, is that the same code works great on the local machine. but when i upload it to my shared server. it just doesn't work. the code is below. bmpOut = new Bitmap(Size, Size); Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bmpOut); g.InterpolationMode = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic; g.FillRectangle(Brushes.White, 0, 0, Size, Size); int topBottomPadding = 0; int leftRightPadding = 0; if (Size > lnNewWidth + 1) leftRightPadding = Convert.ToInt32((Size - lnNewWidth) / 2); else if (Size > lnNewHeight + 1) topBottomPadding = Convert.ToInt32((Size - lnNewHeight) / 2); g.DrawImage(loBMP, leftRightPadding, topBottomPadding, lnNewWidth, lnNewHeight); Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap(bmpOut); if (bmp != null) bmp.Save(ResizedOutput); bmp.Dispose(); bmpOut.Dispose(); g.Dispose(); loBMP.Dispose(); stack trace: [ExternalException (0x80004005): A generic error occurred in GDI+.] System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename, ImageCodecInfo encoder, EncoderParameters encoderParams) +377630 System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename, ImageFormat format) +69 System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename) +25 Utilities.ResizeImage(String fileName, String mode) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\App_Code\Utilities.cs:181 Link.ToProductImage(String fileName) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\App_Code\Link.cs:79 Product.PopulateControls(ProductDetails pd) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\Product.aspx.cs:37 Product.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\Product.aspx.cs:20

  • Can you overlay transparent images in Blackberry Apps?

    - by Greg
I have a very simple application that has one screen and one button. The main screen has a verticalFieldManager with a BitmapField inside it, and one button beneath the bitmap. I want to be able to overlay another image on top of this when the user clicks a button. The overlay image is a PNG with transparent background, and this is important for design, so I can't use popupscreen or a new screen because the backgrounds are always white by default, and I've heard alpha doesn't really do the trick. I guess what I'm asking is if anyone knows a simple way to... A) take a standard verticalFieldManager and overlay a PNG on top of the inner contents B) overlay a PNG over the screen, no matter the contents The basic functionality of this app was intended to be - show an image. on click, show another overlaid on top. on click again, remove the popup image. I haven't found anything that addresses something like this online, but I have read of people doing similar things that utilize popupscreen and new screens in a way I don't need to do. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks

  • Can't create admin user on Heroku

    - by Nick5a1
I am new to rails and I have gone through Kevin Skoglund's Ruby on Rails 3 Essential Training course on Lynda.com. Through the course you set up a simple cms, which I did. It doesn't cover Git or deployment but I've pushed my simple cms to github (https://github.com/nick5a1/Simple_CMS) and deployed to Heroku (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/). In order to deploy to Heroku I followed the Heroku setup guide (https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/rails3) and switched my database from MySQL to PostgreSQL. As instructed I changed gen'mysql2' to gen 'sqlite3' in my Gemfile and ran bundle install before pushing. I then ran heroku run rake db:migrate. I'm running into 2 problems. When I try to log in (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/access) I get an error "We're sorry, but something went wrong". I should instead be getting a flash message with invalid username/password combination. This is what I'm getting on my test environment on my local machine. Secondly, when I log into the Heroku console to create and create an admin user, when I try to save that user I get the following error: irb(main):004:0> user.save (1.2ms) BEGIN AdminUser Exists (1.9ms) SELECT 1 AS one FROM "admin_users" WHERE "admin_users"."username" = 'Nick5a1' LIMIT 1 (1.7ms) ROLLBACK => false Any advice on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated :). Thanks very much, Nick EDIT: Here are my Heroku logs: 2012-06-27T20:36:44+00:00 heroku[slugc]: Slug compilation started 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Add shared-database:5mb add-on by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v2 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Add RAILS_ENV, LANG, PATH, RACK_ENV, GEM_PATH config by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v3 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v4 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Deploy 1d82839 by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:35+00:00 heroku[slugc]: Slug compilation finished 2012-06-27T20:37:36+00:00 heroku[web.1]: Starting process with command `bundle exec rails server -p 45450` 2012-06-27T20:37:40+00:00 app[web.1]: DEPRECATION WARNING: You have Rails 2.3-style plugins in vendor/plugins! • How to draw some lines in a view element defined in the xml layout

    - by Nils
Hello, I have problems drawing some simple lines in a view object (Android programming). First I created the layout with the view element(kind of painting area) in it (XML file). [...] < View android:id="@+id/viewmap" android:layout_width="572px" android:layout_height="359px" android:layout_x="26px" android:layout_y="27px" [...] ... and tried then to access it to draw some lines. Unfortunately the program is running and other UI elements like buttons are displayed, but I can't see the drawings. What's wrong ? [...] viewmap = (View) findViewById(R.id.viewmap); Canvas canvas = new Canvas(); viewmap.draw(canvas); Paint p = new Paint(); p.setColor(Color.BLUE); p.setStyle(Paint.Style.STROKE); canvas.drawColor(Color.WHITE); p.setColor(Color.BLUE); canvas.drawLine(4, 4, 29, 5, p); p.setColor(Color.RED); viewmap.draw(canvas); [...] Thanks for help :) !

  • Project Management and Scheduling Techniques

    - by Alec Smart
Hello, I know this is probably the nth project management question. But am trying to move my team onto a more robust project management technique. Am wondering what is the best technique to use? I know that probably no technique is best, but which are the most popular techniques? Poker planning? Evidence Based Scheduling? COCOMO? Agile? Scrum? XP? Which one to use? Also, suppose I use EBS, wouldn't it be too time consuming to break down every single activity into fine grained tasks? E.g. "Design" is a goal, what kind of fine-grained tasks will I have under it? Is this is a waste of time i.e. dividing work into so many micro parts. Usually when I give my programmers a task, I follow up every week, and they complete quite a lot of the task assigned to them (the tasks are very broad e.g. X module). Is EBS worth it? Are there any white-papers on it so that I can implement it on my own? (instead of using Fogbugz) Most of my projects are web-based projects. Thank you for your time.

  • Android "first time" app user tutorial

    - by EGHDK
I'm trying to create an opening tutorial that consists of four panes for my application, but since I'm new to Android, I want to make sure I'm considering all of my options before marking this task as "complete". I know of three ways, I can only really accomplish one. There are no requirements for this tutorial, but some "wanted features" would be a sliding action to each pane would be nice as well as the image and the bottom (navigation circles) not moving and the title on top not moving. One Way 4 separate activities and 4 separate layouts The red circled items are textViews that are centered horizontally and pushed off the top. The white circled items are imageViews that are centered horizontally and vertically. The purple circled are imageViews that are centered horizontally and pushed off the bottom. Second Way 4 fragments on one activity Fragments were difficult to learn, but the more I read about them/see tutorials on them, they seem to only really be used for tablets. Would it be a valid way to accomplish this? Third Way ViewPager? http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/08/horizontal-view-swiping-with-viewpager.html I've never used this before, but I know it's an option. Final Question Which way is used more often/what's the proper way to implement this? Is there any way to only have the middle part (the image) slide in, but the title (top) and the navigation images (bottom) just change once the image slides in?
