    - by iamgopal
    hi, i am creating ( researching possibility of ) a highly customizable python client and would like to allow users to actually edit the code in another language to customize the running of program. ( analogous to browser which itself coded in c/c++ and run another language html/js ). so my question is , is there any programming language implemented in pure python which i can see as a reference ( or use directly ? ) -- i need simple language ( simple statements and ifs can do )

  • Responsive grid, floated elements move underneath one another when min-width is reached

    - by Francesca
    I'm in the process of creating a responsive site (currently only working on the main content.) I've created two floated divs with percentage based widths. One contains an image which resizes with the browser resizing. The image has a min-width of 100px. Can anyone tell me why when put into a mobile sized width it doesn't drop down? How can I make the image stack underneath the text? JS Fiddle Live site

  • How can I dynamically load and execute all of the Javascript files in a directory?

    - by Andrew
    I'm making a very simple content-management system in Javascript. It uses plugins which are individual .js files which live in a "modules" folder. Currently I'm loading them with JQuery's getScript() function, but I have to manually define the list of available modules. Is there any way to dynamically load the list of Javascript files so that the user can install additional modules by simply dropping them into the "modules" folder?

  • Is there a way to get a mobile Safari WebApp to "forget" its state?

    - by Alex Mcp
    I have a nascent bridge scoring app that is meant to be stored locally on an iPod touch/iPhone (iPad? Would probably be fugly...) So far so good, got a custom icon rolling and basic JS navigation laid out, but my problem is that it retains its state when I quit the app. Is there a simple magic Apple meta tag for this? Or is it achieved with javascript? Thanks for any insight.

  • A Beginners' Guide to Learning JavaScript?

    - by CloseDiamond
    There's a few mentions of Javascript newbies getting starting by checking out some of Douglas Crockford's work (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11246/best-resources-to-learn-javascript), but none of his resources seem to be for those looking to learn from the ground up. Are there any suggestions for complete beginners regarding how best to learn JavaScript? Personally I have plenty of HTML and CSS experience, and some PHP (which would help learning JS), but for those that don't know any programming language what would you recommend?

  • fancybox image sometimes renders outside box

    - by Colleen
    I have the following django template: <script type="text/javascript" src="{{ STATIC_URL }}js/ jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" href="{{ STATIC_URL }}css/ jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /> {% include "submission-form.html" with section="photos" %} <div class="commentables"> {% load thumbnail %} {% for story in objects %} <div class="image {% if forloop.counter|add:"-1"| divisibleby:picsinrow %}left{% else %}{% if forloop.counter| divisibleby:picsinrow %}right{% else %}middle{% endif %}{% endif %}"> {% if story.image %} {% thumbnail story.image size crop="center" as full_im %} <a rel="gallery" href="{% url post slug=story.slug %}"> <img class="preview" {% if story.title %} alt="{{ story.title }}" {% endif %} src="{{ full_im.url }}" full- image="{% if story.image_url %}{{ story.image_url }}{% else %} {{ story.image.url }}{% endif %}"> </a> {% endthumbnail %} {% else %} {% if story.image_url %} {% thumbnail story.image_url size crop="center" as full_im %} <a rel="gallery" href="{% url post slug=story.slug %}"> <img class="preview" {% if story.title %} alt="{{ story.title }}" {% endif %} src="{{ full_im.url }}" full- image="{{ story.image_url }}"> </a> {% endthumbnail %} {% endif %} {% endif %} </div> {% endfor %} {% if rowid != "last" %} <br style="clear: both" /> {% endif %} {% if not no_more_button %} <p style="text-align: right;" class="more-results"><a href="{% url images school_slug tag_slug %}">more...</a></p> {% endif %} </div> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ function changeattr(e){ var f = $(e.clone()); $(f.children()[0]).attr('src', $(f.children() [0]).attr("full-image")); $(f.children()[0]).attr('height', '500px'); return f[0].outerHTML; } $('.image a').each(function(idx, elem) { var e = $(elem); e.fancybox({ title: $(e.children()[0]).attr('alt'), content: changeattr(e) }); }); }); </script> and I'm occasionally getting weird display errors where the box will either not render anything at all (so it will show up as just a thin white bar, basically) or it will render only about 30 px wide, and position itself halfway down the page. In both cases, if I inspect element, I can see the "shadow" of the full picture, at the right size, with the right url. Image source doesnt' seem to make a difference, I'm getting no errors, and this is happening in both chrome and firefox. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Expose C++ object to Javascript in Qt

    - by Evans
    Is there any way I can expose a C++ object/function to JavaScript running inside the QtWebKit browser in Qt? It's possible to expose ActionScript objects to JS code running inside the WebKit browser in Adobe AIR - I'm looking for similar functionality in Qt.

  • Comet with multiple channels

    - by mark_dj
    Hello, I am writing an web app which needs to subscribe to multiple channels via javascript. I am using Atmosphere and Jersey as backend. However the jQuery plugin they work with only supports 1 channel. I've start buidling my own implementation. Now it works oke, but when i try to subscribe to 2 channels only 1 channel gets notified. Is the XMLHttpRequest blocking the rest of the XMLHttpRequests? Here's my code: function AtmosphereComet(url) { this.Connected = new signals.Signal(); this.Disconnected = new signals.Signal(); this.NewMessage = new signals.Signal(); var xhr = null; var self = this; var gotWelcomeMessage = false; var readPosition; var url = url; var onIncomingXhr = function() { if (xhr.readyState == 3) { if (xhr.status==200) // Received a message { var message = xhr.responseText; console.log(message); if(!gotWelcomeMessage && message.indexOf("") -1) { gotWelcomeMessage = true; self.Connected.dispatch(sprintf("Connected to %s", url)); } else { self.NewMessage.dispatch(message.substr(readPosition)); } readPosition = this.responseText.length; } } else if (this.readyState == 4) { self.disconnect(); } } var getXhr = function() { if ( window.location.protocol !== "file:" ) { try { return new window.XMLHttpRequest(); } catch(xhrError) {} } try { return new window.ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch(activeError) {} } this.connect = function() { xhr = getXhr(); xhr.onreadystatechange = onIncomingXhr; xhr.open("GET", url, true); xhr.send(null); } this.disconnect = function() { xhr.onreadystatechange = null; xhr.abort(); } this.send = function(message) { } } And the test code: var connection1 = AtmosphereConnection("http://192.168.1.145:9999/botenveiling/b/product/status/2", AtmosphereComet); var connection2 = AtmosphereConnection("http://192.168.1.145:9999/botenveiling/b/product/status/1", AtmosphereComet); var output = function(msg) { alert(output); }; connection1.NewMessage.add(output); connection2.NewMessage.add(output); connection1.connect(); In AtmosphereConnection I instantiate the given AtmosphereComet with "new". I iterate over the object to check if it has to methods: "send", "connect", "disconnect". The reason for this is that i can switch the implementation later on when i complete the websocket implementation :) However I think the problem rests with the XmlHttpRequest object, or am i mistaken? P.S.: signals.Signal is a js observer/notifier library: http://millermedeiros.github.com/js-signals/ Testing: Firefox 3.6.1.3

  • JavaScript code inside UpdatePanel

    - by Ed Woodcock
    Ok: I've got an UpdatePanel on an aspx page that contains a single Placeholder. Inside this placeholder I'm appending one of a selection of usercontrols depending on certain external conditions (this is a configuration page). In each of these usercontrols there is a bindUcEvents() javascript function that binds the various jQuery and javascript events to buttons and validators inside the usercontrol. The issue I'm having is that the usercontrol's javascript is not being recognised. Normally, javascript inside an updatepanel is executed when the updatepanel posts back, however none of this code can be found by the page (I've tried running the function manually via firebug's console, but it tells me it cannot find the function). Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers, Ed. EDIT: cut down (but functional) example: Markup: <script src="/js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:ScriptManager ID="Script" runat="server" /> <asp:Button ID="Postback" runat="server" Text="Populate" OnClick="PopulatePlaceholder" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdateMe" runat="server"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="Postback" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Literal ID="Code" runat="server" /> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceMe" runat="server" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </form> C#: protected void PopulatePlaceholder(object sender, EventArgs e) { Button button = new Button(); button.ID = "Push"; button.Text = "push"; button.OnClientClick = "javascript:return false;"; Code.Text = "<script type=\"text/javascript\"> function bindEvents() { $('#" + button.ClientID + "').click(function() { alert('hello'); }); } bindEvents(); </script>"; PlaceMe.Controls.Add(button); } You'll see that the button does not poput the alert message, even though the code is present on the page.

  • jquery element not defined, but it used to skip it...

    - by pfunc
    I recently transferred a site to a new host. Reloaded everything, and the javascript that worked fine before is breaking at an element it can't find. $('#emailForm') is not defined. Now, the #emailform isn't on the page, but it wasn't before either, and JS used to skip this and it would just work. Not sure why this is happening. Any clues?

  • Twitter Bootstrap Navbar blocking svg viewBox

    - by user1167650
    I have a navbar fixed to the bottom and I have page that has a title and a giant svg (created by d3.js). I would like the svg to take up the entire screen (whatever is left over), but it always seems to have some part appear behind the bottom nav bar. I've tried: 1) using viewBox to auto-resize, setting the parent div and the svg to be block elements 2) adding padding-bottom to the body element But the svg still appears behind the navbar on wide screen monitors.

  • JSLint reports unexpected use of '&' and '|' -- I'd like to clean this

    - by Zhami
    I'm trying to get my Javascript code 100% JSLint clean. I've got some JS code that I've lifted from elsewhere to create a UUID. That code has the following line: s[16] = hexDigits.substr((s[16] & 0x3) | 0x8, 1); This line incites JSLint to generate two error messages: 1) Unexpected use of '&' 2) Unexpected use of '|' I don't understand why -- I'd appreciate counsel regarding how to recode to eliminate the error message.

  • Is there a better way to write this .htaccess directive?

    - by Bill H
    I want all css, javascript, and image file requests, that are named like this "filename.12345.css" to be re-routed to "filename.css". The ".12345" part will always be numbers and the length can be anywhere from 11 - 15 characters. This directive seems to work OK but I want to make sure there is no error in my logic. RewriteRule ^(.+)\.(.+)\.(js|css|jpg|gif|png)$ $1.$3 Any help would be greatly

  • Dynamically loaded jQuery with GreaseMonkey inconsistent on pages (refreshing seems to fix it)... do

    - by uprightnetizen
    Hi, I want a custom page analysis footer on every site I visit... so I've used a method to attach JQuery to unsafeWindow. I then create a floating footer on the page. I want to be able to call commands in a menu, do some processing, then put the results in the footer. Unfortunately it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. At least two alerts should happen in the printOutput function. Sometimes it only fires one, then it (crashes?) without error? On other pages, both alerts fire and it finds the element, but it doesn't add the extra text. (e.g. www.linode.com) Refreshing the page, then running the printOutput command again seems to always work. Does anyone know what's going on??? The userscript can be installed at: http://www.captionwizard.com/test/page_analysis.user.js // ==UserScript== // @name page_analysis // @namespace markspace // @description Page Analysis // @include http://*/* // ==/UserScript== (function() { // Add jQuery var GM_JQ = document.createElement('script'); GM_JQ.src = 'http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js'; GM_JQ.type = 'text/javascript'; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(GM_JQ); var jqueryActive = false; //Check if jQuery's loaded function GM_wait() { if(typeof unsafeWindow.jQuery == 'undefined') { window.setTimeout(GM_wait,100); } else { $ = unsafeWindow.jQuery; letsJQuery(); } } GM_wait(); function letsJQuery() { jqueryActive = true; setupOutputFooter(); } /******************************* Analysis FOOTER Functions ******************************/ function printOutput(someText) { alert('printing output'); if($('div.analysis_footer').length) { alert('is here - appending'); $('div.analysis_footer').append('<br>' + someText); } else { alert('not here - trying again'); setupOutputFooter(); $('div.analysis_footer').append('<br>' + someText); } } GM_registerMenuCommand("Test Output", testOutput, "k", "control", "k" ); function testOutput() { printOutput('testing this'); } function setupOutputFooter() { $('<div class="analysis_footer">Page Analysis Footer:</div>').appendTo('body'); $('div.analysis_footer').css('position','fixed').css('bottom', '0px').css('background-color','#F8F8F8'); $('div.analysis_footer').css('width','100%').css('color','#3B3B3B').css('font-size', '0.8em'); $('div.analysis_footer').css('font-family', '"Myriad",Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif').css('padding', '5px'); $('div.analysis_footer').css('border-top', '1px solid black').css('text-align', 'left'); } }());
