  • Animating translation and scaling of view in Android

    - by hgpc
    I have to animate a view from state A to B with changes to its scale, position and scrolling. I know everything about state A (widthA, heightA, topA, leftA, scrollXA, scrollYA) and state B (widthB, heightB, topB, leftB, scrollXB, scrollYB). So far I wrote the following code: AnimationSet animation = new AnimationSet(true); int toXDelta; // What goes here? int toYDelta; // What goes here? TranslateAnimation translateAnimation = new TranslateAnimation(1, toXDelta, 1, toYDelta); translateAnimation.setDuration(duration); animation.addAnimation(translateAnimation); float scale = (float) widthB / (float) widthA; ScaleAnimation scaleAnimation = new ScaleAnimation(1, scale, 1, scale); scaleAnimation.setDuration(duration); animation.addAnimation(scaleAnimation); animation.setAnimationListener(new AnimationListener() { @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animation arg0) { view.clearAnimation(); // Change view to state B } @Override public void onAnimationRepeat(Animation arg0) {} @Override public void onAnimationStart(Animation arg0) {} }); view.startAnimation(animation); Is this the right way to do this? If so, how should I calculate the values of toXDelta and toYDelta? I'm having trouble finding the exact formula. Thanks!

  • How to use startMethodTracing APIs on Android?

    - by Rajorshi
    I have recently started working on an app which has both Java and native components. I am trying to generate trace information for both components using Debug.startMethodTracing("myapp") and Debug.startNativeTracing() alternately. However, both are behaving unexpectedly. When I use Debug.startMethodTracing("myapp"), I can see a file /sdcard/myapp.trace being created but it is always empty no matter how long I run my app. When I use Debug.startNativeTracing() and start the emulator with the -trace <tracename> switch, I see a message saying "Trace started", but when I try to run my app, the emulator crashes. Am I missing something obvious here? How do I debug this problem?

  • Android - Read PNG image without alpha and decode as ARGB_8888

    - by loki666
    I try to read an image from sdcard (in emulator) and then create a Bitmap image with the BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray method. I set the options: options.inPrefferedConfig = Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888 options.inDither = false Then I extract the pixels into a ByteBuffer. ByteBuffer buffer = ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(width*height*4) bitmap.copyPixelsToBuffer(buffer) I use this ByteBuffer then in the JNI to convert it into RGB format and want to calculate on it. But always I get false data - I test without modifying the ByteBuffer. Only thing I do is to put it into the native method into JNI. Then cast it into a unsigned char* and convert it back into a ByteBuffer before returning it back to Java. unsigned char* buffer = (unsinged char*)(env->GetDirectBufferAddress(byteBuffer)) jobject returnByteBuffer = env->NewDirectByteBuffer(buffer, length) Before displaying the image I get data back with bitmap.copyPixelsFromBuffer( buffer ) But then it has wrong data in it. My Question is if this is because the image is internally converted into RGB 565 or what is wrong here? ..... Have an answer for it: - yes, it is converted internally to RGB565. Does anybody know how to create such an bitmap image from PNG with ARGB8888 pixel format? If anybody has an idea, it would be great!

  • Android AES and init vector

    - by Donald_W
    I have an issue with AES encryptio and decryption: I can change my IV entirely and still I'm able to decode my data. public static final byte[] IV = { 65, 1, 2, 23, 4, 5, 6, 7, 32, 21, 10, 11, 12, 13, 84, 45 }; public static final byte[] IV2 = { 65, 1, 2, 23, 45, 54, 61, 81, 32, 21, 10, 121, 12, 13, 84, 45 }; public static final byte[] KEY = { 0, 42, 2, 54, 4, 45, 6, 7, 65, 9, 54, 11, 12, 13, 60, 15 }; public static final byte[] KEY2 = { 0, 42, 2, 54, 43, 45, 16, 17, 65, 9, 54, 11, 12, 13, 60, 15 }; //public static final int BITS = 256; public static void test() { try { // encryption Cipher c = Cipher.getInstance("AES"); SecretKeySpec keySpec = new SecretKeySpec(KEY, "AES"); c.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, keySpec, new IvParameterSpec(IV)); String s = "Secret message"; byte[] data = s.getBytes(); byte[] encrypted = c.doFinal(data); String encryptedStr = ""; for (int i = 0; i < encrypted.length; i++) encryptedStr += (char) encrypted[i]; //decryoption Cipher d_c = Cipher.getInstance("AES"); SecretKeySpec d_keySpec = new SecretKeySpec(KEY, "AES"); d_c.init(Cipher.DECRYPT_MODE, d_keySpec, new IvParameterSpec(IV2)); byte[] decrypted = d_c.doFinal(encrypted); String decryptedStr = ""; for (int i = 0; i < decrypted.length; i++) decryptedStr += (char) decrypted[i]; Log.d("", decryptedStr); } catch (Exception ex) { Log.d("", ex.getMessage()); } } Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? How can I get 256 bit AES encryption (only change key to 32-byte long array?) Encryption is a new topic for me so please for newbie friendly answers.

  • Android, NetworkInfo.getTypeName(), NullpointerException

    - by moppel
    I have an activity which shows some List entries. When I click on a list item my app checks which connection type is available ("WIF" or "MOBILE"), through NetworkInfo.getTypeName(). As soon as I call this method I get a NullpointerException. Why? I tested this on the emulator, cause my phone is currently not available (it's broken...). I assume this is the problem? This is the only explanation that I have, if that's not the case I have no idea why this would be null. Here's some code snippet: public class VideoList extends ListActivity{ ... public void onCreate(Bundle bundle){ final ConnectivityManager cm = (ConnectivityManager) getSystemService(Context.CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE); ... listview.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener(){ public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { ... NetworkInfo ni = cm.getActiveNetworkInfo(); String connex = ni.getTypeName(); //Nullpointer exception here if(connex.equals("WIFI")doSomething(); } }); } }

  • Android date/time displaying 0 instead of 12

    - by bEtTy Barnes
    I wonder what's wrong with my code below: // Assign hour set in the picker c.set( Calendar.HOUR, selectedHour ); c.set( Calendar.MINUTE, selectedMinute ); // For alternative times c.add( Calendar.HOUR, SUB_SIX_HOUR ); c.add( Calendar.MINUTE, SUB_FLAT_MINUTE ); hour = c.get( Calendar.HOUR ); minute = c.get( Calendar.MINUTE ); hour = c.get( Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY ); StringBuilder sb4 = new StringBuilder(); if(hour>=12){ sb4.append(hour-12).append( ":" ).append(minute).append(" PM"); }else if(hour == 0){ sb4.append( "12" ).append( ":" ).append(minute).append( "AM" ); }else{ sb4.append(hour).append( ":" ).append(minute).append(" AM"); } alternative.setText( "Alternative times: " + sb3 + " (9 hours)" + sb4 + " (6 hours)" ); Please help me figure out how to display 12 instead of 0 when the calculated time is 12:00 midnight. Thanks!

  • How to change size of Android ScrollView

    - by user611923
    I have a layout like this (abstracted): Scrollview - fill_parent LinearLayout - wrap_content ImageView 1 - wrap_content ImageView 2 - ... ImageView 3 ... In the course of user interaction some images are replaced by larger or smaller ones, shortening or lenghtening the area to be scrolled. And that is the problem. The Scrollview (SV) does not know about the change, so either it scrolls over a lot of empty space at the bottom, or cuts off a picture or two at the bottom. Question 1: Can I somehow make the SV readapt to the changed hight of the LiearLayout (LL)? Question 2: I can obtain the current size through getHight on the LL. But supplyong it to the SV via changed LayoutParams does not work - of course, that would only change the height of the SV on the screen. Is there a way to put the changed height of the LL into the SV in the code, somehow? Question 3: I havn't tried it yet. Would creating the SV, LL and its children in code and then adding/removing children of changed size as required, make the SV adapt to the changes? And last question: Is there a better aüpproach, except using ListViews?

  • Change the playback rate of a track in real time on Android

    - by android_dev
    Hello, I would like to know if somebody knows a library to changing the playback rate of a track in real time. My idea is to load a track and change its playback rate to half or double. Firstly, I tried with MusicPlayer but is was not possible at all and then I tried with SoundPool. The problem is that with SoundPool I can´t change the rate once the track is loaded. Here is the code I am using (proof of concept): float j = 1; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button b = (Button)findViewById(R.id.Button01); b.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { j = (float) (j +.5); } }); AssetFileDescriptor afd; try { SoundPool sp = new SoundPool(1, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 0); afd = getAssets().openFd("wav/sample.wav"); int id = sp.load(afd, 1); sp.play(id, 1, 1, 1, 0, j); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } When I press the button, the playback rate should increase but it does not happen. Any idea of how change the rate in real time? Thanks in advance.

    - by Chris
    I have a ListView. When an item on the ListView is tapped, it loads a SubView. I want to assign an ID to each row of the ListView, so I can pass that ID along to the SubView. How do I assign a specific ID to each row in the ListView? Here is how I am currently loading the ListView: setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.list_item, mArrayList));

  • Storing float numbers as strings in android database

    - by sandis
    So I have an app where I put arbitrary strings in a database and later extract them like this: Cursor DBresult = myDatabase.query(false, Constant.DATABASE_NOTES_TABLE_NAME, new String[] {"myStuff"}, where, null, null, null, null, null); DBresult.getString(0); This works fine in all cases except for when the string looks like a float number, for example "221.123123123". After saving it to the database I can extract the database to my computer and look inside it with a DB-viewer, and the saved number is correct. However, when using cursor.getString() the string "221.123" is returned. I cant for the life of me understand how I can prevent this. I guess I could do a cursor.getDouble() on every single string to see if this gives a better result, but that feels sooo ugly and inefficient. Any suggestions? Cheers, edit: I just made a small test program. This program prints "result: 123.123", when I would like it to print "result: 123.123123123" SQLiteDatabase database = openOrCreateDatabase("databas", Context.MODE_PRIVATE, null); database.execSQL("create table if not exists tabell (nyckel string primary key);"); ContentValues value = new ContentValues(); value.put("nyckel", "123.123123123"); database.insert("tabell", null, value); Cursor result = database.query("tabell", new String[]{"nyckel"}, null, null, null, null, null); result.moveToFirst(); Log.d("TAG","result: " + result.getString(0));

  • Android Template Application?

    - by stormin986
    I have built an application that I want to use as the foundation for a few other variants. The variants will come from assets / resource files and a unique AndroidManifest.xml. However, I want to be able to leave all the application code alone (modifying the package of all my classes, etc). I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do so. My first thought was to simply have my main application in its own package, and then specify the specific application package in the manifest. However, this gives me issues with the generated R.java class, since it is generated to be in the main application's package. Anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish this? To have a code baseline, and the application variants happen in resources/assets and the manifest?

  • ClickableSpan on TextView in App Widget

    - by Dave Allison
    I have created an App Widget for Android 1.5. It uses a TextView to present a number of individual Text Links using ClickableSpans. However, the onClick event handler on the ClickableSpan is never called, it appears that you can not select individual components on the widget just the whole widget. This approach works fine for a normal app, so what I do I need to change to make this work for a widget?

  • Getting a variable out of a Public Void (Android)

    - by James Rattray
    I have this code: hubSpinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parentView, View selectedItemView, int position, long id) { final MediaPlayer mp2 = MediaPlayer.create(Textbox.this, R.raw.hero); mp2.start(); } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parentView) { } }); (The code basically runs when a new item is selected of a spinner and then plays a song, -which later will be a variable based on what was picked, but i'm fine as it is for now) Problem: And I want to be able to use 'mp2' out of this public void, (I want a button which pauses it) How can I do this? Please explain/show... Thanks alot James

  • Android: Quitting the Looper?

    - by stormin986
    I have a thread I use to periodically update the data in my Activity. I create the thread and start a looper for using a handler with postDelay(). In onDestroy() for my activity, I call removeCallbacks() on my handler. Should I then call handler.getLooper().quit()? Or not worry about it and let the OS deal with it? Or would it just run forever then, consuming CPU cycles?

  • SHA-256 encryption wrong result in Android

    - by user642966
    I am trying to encrypt 12345 using 1111 as salt using SHA-256 encoding and the answer I get is: 010def5ed854d162aa19309479f3ca44dc7563232ff072d1c87bd85943d0e930 which is not same as the value returned by this site: http://hash.online-convert.com/sha256-generator Here's the code snippet: public String getHashValue(String entity, String salt){ byte[] hashValue = null; try { MessageDigest digest = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA-256"); digest.update(entity.getBytes("UTF-8")); digest.update(salt.getBytes("UTF-8")); hashValue = digest.digest(); } catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException e) { Log.i(TAG, "Exception "+e.getMessage()); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } return BasicUtil.byteArrayToHexString(hashValue); } I have verified my printing method with a sample from SO and result is fine. Can someone tell me what's wrong here? And just to clarify - when I encrypt same value & salt in iOS code, the returned value is same as the value given by the converting site.
