  • MVC 3 Razor PopUp Window

    - by Vipul
I need to open a new pop up window on click of a button in a view. The new window should be redirect to a specific actionmethod in a specific controller. I also need to provide attributes for size of the new pop up window. I have been trying the following code: <input type="button" name = "ClickMe" Value="ClickMe" onclick= "javascript:window.open('/Home/Create/','Customer Search',height='window.screen.height - 100', width='200',left='window.screen.width - 250' ,top='10',status='no',toobar='no',resizable='yes',scrollbars='yes')"/> On click of button, nothing happens. I get following Javascript error: Line: 19 Char: 1 Error: Invalid argument. Code: 0 When I check the ViewSource of the HTML rendered, I find the line to be the one which is rendering the button. I am using Windows Vista with IE 7. I am working on MVC 3 with Razor Engine in VS 2010

  • Customers and suppliers database design issue

    - by hectorsq
I am developing a web application in which I will have customers and suppliers. Initially I thought on using a Customers table and a Suppliers table. Then when I was thinking on bank transactions, I noticed that each transaction needs to refer to a customer or a supplier, so I thought on using a single table named Business in which I will save both customers and suppliers. If I use Customers and Suppliers tables when I want to list the bank transactions I will have to search in both tables to get the company name. If I use a Businesses table I will have to use a business type column, and have the union of possible fields for all businesses types. Any suggestions on the design?

  • How do I specify a default value in a MS Access query?

    - by jheddings
I have three tables similar to the following: tblInvoices: Number | Date | Customer tblInvDetails: Invoice | Quantity | Rate | Description tblPayments: Invoice | Date | Amount I have created a query called exInvDetails that adds an Amount column to tblInvDetails: SELECT tblInvDetails.*, [tblInvDetails.Quantity]*[tblInvDetails.Rate]* AS Amount FROM tblInvDetails; I then created a query exInvoices to add Total and Balance columns to tblInvoices: SELECT tblInvoices.*, (SELECT Sum(exInvDetails.Amount) FROM exInvDetails WHERE exInvDetails.Invoice = tblInvoices.Number) AS Total, (SELECT Sum(tblPayments.Amount) FROM tblPayments WHERE tblPayments.Invoice = tblInvoices.Number) AS Payments, (Total-Payments) AS Balance FROM tblInvoices; If there are no corresponding payments in tblPayments, the fields are null instead of 0. Is there a way to force the resulting query to put a 0 in this column?

  • Forward traffic between two VLANs.

    - by Michael
I have a small network with two VLANs. One is our internal network for basic file sharing, etc and the other is a public wifi network for our customers. The internal network is configured as 192.168.1.x and the public wifi is 192.168.11.x. We have one printer at 192.168.1.50. I would like to be able to have that printer available to our customer at 192.168.11.50. I suspect it can be done with iptables, but I'm brand new to it and I just can seem to work out the syntax. Can anyone offer any help? Oh, this is all running on a wrt54g router running Tomato.

  • Making commercial Java software

    - by roddik
Hi. I intend to make some software to be sold over internet. I've only created open-source before, so I have really no idea of how to protect it from being cracked and distributed as warez. Bearing in mind that I know like two programms that aren't either cracked or not really useful I decided that the only more or less reliable way may look like this: Connect to a server and provide licensing info and some sort of hardware summary info If everything is fine, the server returns some crucial missing parts of the program bound to that certain pc along with the usage limit of say 2 days That crucial stuff is not saved to hard drive, so it is downloaded every time the program starts, if the programm runs more than 2 days, data is downloaded again If the same info is used from different computers, suspend the customer account What do you think about this? It may seem a bit to restrictive, but I'd better make less sales at first then eventually see my precious killer app downloaded for free. Anyways, first I need some basic theory/tutorials/guides about how to ensure that user only uses a certain Java app if he has paid for it, so please suggest some. Thanks

  • We failed trying database per custom installation. Plan to recover?

    - by Fedyashev Nikita
There is a web application which is in production mode for 3 years or so by now. Historically, because of different reasons there was made a decision to use database-per customer installation. Now we came across the fact that now deployments are very slow. Should we ever consider moving all the databases back to single one to reduce environment complexity? Or is it too risky idea? The problem I see now is that it's very hard to merge these databases with saving referential integrity(primary keys of different database' tables can not be obviously differentiated). Databases are not that much big, so we don't have much benefits of reduced load by having multiple databases.

  • moving a website built on struts to a CMS

    - by fabiobeta
Hi. Imagine having developed a classical website with java&struts. Now you customer is learning that redeploying the application to change an image or a text is a significant cost. And it asks to add a function to the site: cms-like handling of the contents (editing, versioning, approved publishing). How would you handle this request? Would you develop it in the webapp? Would you merge the webapp with a CMS? Would tou MOVE the webapp into a cms? Would you run away?

  • MySQL is there a Single Select to Query Various Unrelated Values from a database?

    - by zzapper
I saw somewhere what seemed to be nested selects, one "master" select on the "outside" and a series of selects inside- is this possible? I'm not talking about joins as there is particular relation between the selects. I seem not to be explaining myself very well. I want to do a single query which will pull out a series of stats from various tables latest order, latest customer, largest order. Obviously I can do that with a series of selects. The example I saw was something like select ( select ... from tbl_1 where .., select ... from tbl_2 where .., select ... from tbl_3 where .., ... )

  • In-App review feature in iPhone App

    - by boreas
I have recently seen in some Apps that review and rating (with 5 stars) can be integrated into the app. Does anyone have an idea how this is done? e.g. with a http request? More specific: Can I create a view in my App with a UITextField and a Button, so that when the user writes his review in the textfield and click send, the review should be posted to the "Customer Reviews" in the App Store? and the rating should also be done inside the App similarly.

  • Ajax request. Which callback is executed first complete or success?

    - by Gutzofter
I could spike this to find out, but I'm going to use SO. In my unit tests (qunit) I use the asynchShould (alias for asynchTest) test. Part of the assertion is to wait for the completion/success of the request. Like this: asyncShould('talk to customer list server', 1, function() { stop(2000); var forCustomerList = newCustomerListRequest(); forCustomerList.page = 'helpers/helper.php'; forCustomerList.data += '&action=customerListServer&DB=11001'; var originalSuccess = forCustomerList.success; forCustomerList.success = function(msg) { if (msg.flash !== undefined && msg.data !== undefined && msg.status !== undefined) { ok(true, 'json structure correct') } else { ok(false, 'json structure not correct'); } originalSuccess(msg); start(); }; testController.getServerData(forCustomerList); })

  • Is it possible to submit an update for an app on the AppStore without losing reviews?

    - by Frank Krueger
Whenever I submit an update for me app, the number of reviews visible for it drops to 0. If the customer bothers to click through they can see the previous versions' reviews... But the damage has been done. Since the app has 0 stars, I see a significant drop in sales. It takes the app a good week of earning new reviews to restore sales. I usually version the app as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. Is there something I can do during the update process to prevent losing reviews like this?

  • Handling missing data

    - by soppotare
Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

  • web-development: how do you usually handle the "under costruction" page"?

    - by Patrick
hi, I was wondering what's the best way to switch a website to a temporary "under costruction" page and switch it back to the new version. For example, in a website, my customer decided to switch from Joomla to Drupal and I had to create a subfolder for the new CMS, and then move all the content to the root folder. 1) Moving all the content back to the root folder always create some problems with file permissions, links, etc... 2) Creating a rewrite rule in .htaccess or forward with php is not a solution because another url is shown including the top folder. 3) Many host services do not allow to change the root directory, so this is not an option since I don't have access to apache config file. Thanks

  • How do you insert new entries into an Access db table through an ASP.net website?

    - by CGF
I need to insert new records into an Access database. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and firstly create a asp.net website. I can connect to the information in Access databse using dataview or gridview and can query a particular entry (ie. Proposal No. -brings up all details linking to that proposal). I can then edit the details of that proposal and this would update the Access Db. What I need to do is to have a form that simply enters new details for a new customer. ie. Enter name [__] Enter Adress[__]. Then for this to update the database. By using the gridview or dataview I am able to view all fields that exist in the table and edit them. Is there a way that I can get a blank gridview/dataview template (which includes all the fields in the table) and fill it out to then update the database? Thanks

  • Group Objects by Common Key

    - by Marshmellow1328
I have a list of Customers. Each customer has an address and some customers may actually have the same address. My ultimate goal is to group customers based on their address. I figure I could either put the customers in some sort of list-based structure and sort on the addresses, or I could drop the objects into some sort of map that allows multiple values per key. I will now make a pretty picture: List: A1 - C1, A1 - C2, A2 - C3, A3 - C4, A3 - C5 Map: A1 A2 A3 C1 C3 C4 C2 C5 Which option (or any others) do you see as the best solution? Are there any existing classes that will make development easier?

  • How do I create a certain control using Windows Forms in Visual C++?

    - by Dalze
I am new to using Windows Forms in C++ (and just in general), and I am not exactly sure of the name or if it's even possible to do. Currently I am currently working on a school project in which we must make a program for an imaginary bookstore. I am trying right now to make a sort of list that shows what the "customer" is buying. I have to make it sort by price and ISBN and any other variable that the book has. In essence I am trying to make something like the following: I just need to know how to get started. I can't figure out what the name of the control is or how to even get it to sort every time the user clicks on the header.

  • What is a better way to sort by a 5 star rating?

    - by Vizjerai
I'm trying to sort a bunch of products by customer ratings using a 5 star system. The site I'm setting this up for does not have a lot of ratings and continue to add new products so it will usually have a few products with a low number of ratings. I tried using average star rating but that algorithm fails when there is a small number of ratings. Example a product that has 3x 5 star ratings would show up better than a product that has 100x 5 star ratings and 2x 2 star ratings. Shouldn't the second product show up higher because it is statistically more trustworthy because of the larger number of ratings?

  • jQuery .noconflict with prototype not working in (you guessed it) IE.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
On my new customer page, I have successfully implemented a jQuery show/hide toggle alongside a Prototype script using jQuery's .noconflict. (Thanks to all for answers!) But as the world of the net is, IE's not playing ball. {literal} <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(function() { $j("#button1").click(function() { $j("#show-hide").toggle("slow"); }); });? </script> {/literal} As you all must know by now, I'm just newly coming to all this jQuery stuff, so I have no idea what could cause it. Thanks for any help.

  • Normalization two types of customers into one table

    - by JDewzy
I am trying to model a sales situation where you can sell to a person or to a business with a contact person. I cannot figure out the proper way to do this. It seems like 2 tables would be incorrect. But how do I model a Customer table that can be a business or a person? Would I just have a boolean for "business" and an additional "business_name" field that would default to Null. But then I have to do an if/then on the columns and that seems like poor design. Any advice, direction, or links is appreciated.

  • Where is my object allocation and memory leak in this iPhone/objective C code?

    - by Spottswoode
Hello, I'm still a rookie when it comes to this programming gig and was wondering if someone could help me smooth out this code. Functionally, the code works great and does what I need it to do. But when I run the performance tool the allocation graph peaks, the CPU load is high, there's a leak(s), and I've also confirmed when running on my iPhone it seems noticeably slower then the rest of the components in my app. I'd appreciate any advice/tips/help anyone could give me. :) Thanks in advance! .h file // // Time_CalculatorViewController.h // Time Calculator // // Created by Adam Soloway on 2/19/10. // Copyright Legacy Pilots 2010. • Cell contents changing for rows present outside the height of tableview(to see this cells, we shud s

    - by wolverine
    I have set the size of the tableView that I show as the popoverController as 4*rowheight. And I am using 12cells in the tableView. Each cell contains an image and a label. I can see all the cells by scrolling. Upto 5th cell its ok. After th2 5th cell, the label and the image that I am using in the first four cells are being repeated for the remaining cells. And If I select the cell, the result is accurately shown. But when I again take the tableView, the image and labels are not accurate even for the first 5 cells. All are changed but the selection is giving the correct result. Can anyone help me?? - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [self tableviewCellWithReuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier rowNumber:indexPath.row]; } //tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; return cell; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableviewCellWithReuseIdentifier:(NSString *)identifier rowNumber:(NSInteger)row { CGRect rect; rect = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 360.0, ROW_HEIGHT); UITableViewCell *cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:rect reuseIdentifier:identifier] autorelease]; UIImageView *myImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10.00, 10.00, 150.00, 100.00)]; myImageView.tag = IMAGE_TAG; [cell.contentView addSubview:myImageView]; [myImageView release]; UILabel *label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(170.00, -10.00, 170.00, 80.00)]; label.tag = LABEL_TAG; [label setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; [label setTextColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [label setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"AmericanTypewriter" size:22]]; [label setTextAlignment:UITextAlignmentLeft]; [cell.contentView addSubview:label]; [label release]; if (row == 0) { UIImageView *imageView = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag:IMAGE_TAG]; imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"cover_v.jpg"]]; UILabel *mylabel = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:LABEL_TAG]; mylabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"COVER PAGE"]; } }

  • Oracle Insurance Unveils Next Generation of Enterprise Document Automation: Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition

    - by helen.pitts(at)oracle.com
Oracle today announced the introduction of Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition, the next generation of the company's market-leading Enterprise Document Automation (EDA) solution for dynamically creating, managing and delivering adaptive enterprise communications across multiple channels. "Insurers and other organizations need enterprise document automation that puts the power to manage the complete document lifecycle in the hands of the business user," said Srini Venkatasanthanam, vice president, Product Strategy, Oracle Insurancein the press release. "Built with features such as rules-based configurability and interactive processing, Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition makes possible an adaptive approach to enterprise document automation - documents when, where and in the form they're needed." Key enhancements in Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition include: Documaker Interactive, the newly renamed and redesigned Web-based iDocumaker module. Documaker Interactive enables users to quickly and interactively create and assemble compliant communications such as policy and claims correspondence directly from their desktops. Users benefits from built-in accelerators and rules-based configurability, pre-configured content as well as embedded workflow leveraging Oracle BPEL Process Manager. Documaker Documaker Factory, which helps enterprises reduce cost and improve operational efficiency through better management of their enterprise publishing operations. Dashboards, analytics, reporting and an administrative console provide insurers with greater insight and centralized control over document production allowing them to better adapt their resources based on business demands. Other enhancements include: enhanced business user empowerment; additional multi-language localization capabilities; and benefits from the use of powerful Oracle technologies such as the Oracle Application Development Framework for all interfaces and Oracle Universal Content Management (Oracle UCM) for enterprise content management. Drive Competitive Advantage and Growth: Deb Smallwood, founder of SMA Strategy Meets Action, a leading industry insurance analyst consulting firm and co-author of 3CM in Insurance: Customer Communications and Content Management published last month, noted in the press release that "maximum value can be gained from investments when Enterprise Document Automation (EDA) is viewed holistically and all forms of communication and all types of information are integrated across the entire enterprise. "Insurers that choose an approach that takes all communications, both structured and unstructured data, coming into the company from a wide range of channels, and then create seamless flows of information will have a real competitive advantage," Smallwood said. "This capability will soon become essential for selling, servicing, and ultimately driving growth through new business and retention."
