  I have this script that calls a .net WebService msg = $.toJSON( $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://[url]/ETS.UI/WebServices/LocationService.asmx/GetMappingLocationDetails", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: $.toJSON({'componentId':994}), dataType: "json", async: false }).responseText ); And I recieve the following value in the msg variable: ""{\"d\":\"{\\"ComponentId\\":994,\\"Latitude\\":32.219627009236405,\\"Longitude\\":-110.96843719482422,\\"LocationName\\":\\"Tucson\\",\\"StreetAddress\\":\\"7201 E 22nd Street \\",\\"City\\":\\"Tucson\\",\\"State\\":\\"AZ\\",\\"PostalCode\\":null}\"}"" I have no idea why this would format this way, seems to only do this in responseText. Does anyone have any ideas?

  When I tapped into any cell in tableview, blue color that shows us cell state (yes you tapped in!) always lights up and never disappears even if I go back to same table view through navigation. What's the reason ? I did not change anything with cell options ..

• EF recovery from invalidoperationexception caused by server being down

  I had a windows service relying on EF, and it was running fine until the server went down. The problem was after the server went up again, it didn't fix itself and still threw the error: INTERNAL ERROR: Execution of the command requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is broken. Not being very proficient in EF I'm not aware of how I could recover from such a scenario, and why it occurred in the first place? Anyone had this happen before?

  Hi I need a utility to close server socket handles open by the process, on windows. I cannot use tcpview as it does not close the server socket (ESTABLISHED state). Process explorer comes close with its handle list and "close handle" option, but it only gives the handle path (like \Device\Afd) and if application has open many such sockets I cannot tell which handle I would like to close. Any idea?

• What programming shortcuts do you end up regretting or backing out?

  I saw this question and it reminded me of AutoGenerateColumns in the old DataGrid. The few times I've used them, I ended up backing it out because I needed data formatting past the standard "spit out the Data Source columns." Likewise, with toggle, it sounds like it would save time, but then you end up needing to keep track of state or something else, and you rewrite the code accordingly. Are there things that you end up using thinking it will save you time, but end up backing out because it doesn't do what you need?

When I remove the GWDSCT at the end it works fine, but in its current state it does not. I would like it to work how it is now because it accurately reflects where the files are located.   I'm trying to drop a constraint on a db table, something like: ALTER TABLE MyTable drop CONSTRAINT FK_MyTable_AnotherTable But the execution just runs and runs. If I stop it I see: Msg 3727, Level 16, State 0, Line 2 Could not drop constraint. See previous errors. Web search throws up various pages but note that the constraint is properly named and I am trying to remove it using the correct name
