Getting the day from a Unix timestamp (PHP)

How do I get the day (1-7) from a Unix timestamp in PHP? I also need the day date (1-31) and month (1-12).

Need help converting Ruby code to php code

Yesterday I posted this queston. Today I found the code which I need but written in Ruby. Some parts of code I have understood (I don't know Ruby) but there is one part that I can't.
