  • Tips/tricks/gotchas for using System.Diagnostics.Process and Process.Start

    I've used Process.Start to shell out and call 7zip to archive stuff I've also used it to call ffmpeg to compress video files. That was a while ago..but I rememeber there was some issue about the pcocess stalling if you don't read off the standardoutput/error. I don't remember everything about it. Does anyone have experience using System.Diagnostics.Process for the purposes of initiating a long running process and waiting for it to finish? Thanks

    Just wondering if anybody can run/compile application for Sun Java Realtime system on a VM such as VMWare or on the Cloud such as on Amazon EC2 ? I know it is not ideal running Realtime java on a virtualized infrastructure, but it makes things easier. (Otherwise I just have to install SLES SP2 on physical hardware.)

    I am new comer to Android development. Installed fresh Eclipse (Ganymede), Android android-sdk-linux_86. Tried HelloWorld program. Compiles OK. An AVD "my1" created for API level 7.     Does anyone have any example code that shows how to identify the system boot harddisk, and read/write the mbr from the harddisk in windows xp and vista? I know createfile can be used. But I do not know how to properly identify which device is the boot device. Like how do you find out which ones you are meant to use? \.\Volume{GUID}\ or \?\Device\HarddiskVolumeX etc?

    Hi all, I have a program that crashes when I execute it with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start in C#, but works fine if I execute a shortcut or batch file that runs the exe. Are there any alternative means of executing programs in C#, or any reasons why Process.Start might not work compared to the shortcut or batch file? I'd rather not have to generate a batch or shortcut file to run the application. Thanks

  • iPhone PlayAndRecord silences all system audio??

    Hi, In my iPhone app I am trying to record audio and play iPod music at the same time, so I set the audio session category to kAudioSessionCategory_PlayAndRecord. But when I set this, all system audio (including vibrate) doesn't work anymore, although the iPod audio still does work. Does anyone know if this is a bug in the SDK or something, or how to get around it? Please help! Thanks in advance!

    I want to use System.Net.Mail.SendAync in an ASP.NET MVC2 application. I see that it throws an InvalidOperationException if there is already a SendAsync call in progress. Does this mean only one SendAsync is allowed per host, or per thread? For example, if I simultaneously have 2 web users from 2 different remote hosts, can each use SendAsync at the same time?
