  • How to check if TcpClient Connection is closed?

    I'm playing around with the TcpClient and I'm trying to figure out how to make the Connected property say false when a connection is dropped. I tried doing NetworkStream ns = client.GetStream(); ns.Write(new byte[1], 0, 0); But it still will not show me if the TcpClient is disconnected. How would you go about this using a TcpClient?

    Is there a way to query different databases based on the value of a column in the query? Say for example you have the following columns: id part_id attr_id attr_value_ext attr_value_int You then run a query and if the attr_id is '1' is returns the attr_value_int column but if attr_id is greater than '1' it joins data from another table based on the attr_value_ext.

    My understanding is that in order to return a complex PHP variable to Javascript, it should be done via AJAX and json_encode. Could somebody give me an actual example (both PHP and Javascript code) of this? Lets say we have the two-dim array in PHP: $twoDArr = array( array('Greg', 44, 'Owner'), array('Joe', 23, 'Renter'), array('Susan', 39, 'Owner'), array('John', 32, 'Renter) ); How would we return this to an analogous two dimensional array in javascript using json_encode?

  • Hidden WCF endpoints

    For the sake of arguement, lets say that I've got a basicHttp WCF service. Besides implementing authentication (login/logout methods), what is stopping someone from just cracking open Visual Studio, adding a web reference to my website's service, and then playing playing around with my service? I'm not familiar with a method of stopping someone from doing this. The idea of someone downloading all of my Data/Operation contracts and then start playing around is keeping me up at night, and I like my sleep!

For example, say I want all <input type="text" class="datepicker" /> elements to have the jQuery UI Datepicker plugin, including any I might create at runtime.     According to the computer language benchmark game, the LuaJIT implementation seems to beat every other JIT-ed dynamic language (V8, Tracemonkey, PLT Scheme, Erlang HIPE) by an order of magnitude. I know that these benchmarks are not representative (as they say: "Which programming language implementations have the fastest benchmark programs?"), but this is still really impressive. In practice, is it really the case? Someone have tested that Lua implementation?

    I have integrated a Silverlight Navigation Application in an ASP.NET MVC web. However when Silverlight calls for its default page, say, IndexPage ASP.NET MVC displays the route as: http://localhost/#/IndexPage I have tried to get ASP.NET MVC to respond to this route: http://localhost/#IndexPage but I am unable to find a configuration that works with this. Does ASP.NET MVC routes respond to hashes in general?

    I hope this gets a response. Say Person A sends an SMS to a shortcode in a certain syntax. How could a confirmation SMS be sent to Person A's mobile phone automatically ("Your message has been received successfully!"), after determining that the SMS received from Person A is in the correct syntax? I'm a total newbie when it comes to SMS - so if anyone could describe the entire end-to-end process/architecture that could make this happen, I'd be grateful!

    I am using server.transfer to redirect from one to another page... lets say when i click on button1 of page1 i redirects to page2 using server.transfer but than when i refresh that page2 , it get postback and redirects me page1 again.. please tell me where i am doing wrong.?   • Git - git add in a gitignore directory

    If my .gitignore file has tmp\ in it and I do a git add file.test from tmp, Git adds file.test to the repository. If file.test never changes, than this is as good as a one time add to the repository, right? Say for static files that I want to be in version control. You want the file in an initial clone and that's it. I assume file.test doesn't get tracked, so if there are updates, Git doesn't see it as modified?
