Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '(', expecting ',' or ';' on line 4
What's the problem with it?
If I have a form of about 40 questions, how do I apply the same rules to questions 1-20, and 21-40?
For example:
$("#form_survey").validate({
rules: {
a_ +i: {max:12, maxlength:2},
},
messages: {
a_ +i:{
max: "That's too much!"
}
}
Where the "+i" is the ideal increment of +1...
Should be easy, I'm just stuck on syntax...
Hello,
It seems like there should be an easy way to call a selector with some arguments when all you have is a SEL object. I can't seem to find the correct syntax.
-(MyClass*) init: (SEL)sel owner:(NSObject*) parent
{
int i =10;
[parent performSelector:sel:i ];
}
I want to call this guy
-(void)addFavorite:(NSString *)favoriteToAdd
at, @selector here
action:@selector([addFavorite favoriteToAdd:@"string"])];
But I keep getting syntax error no matter which way I write it.
Can someone point out the appropriate way to call this function? When it had no parameter and was "addFavorite," it worked fine.
I'm running Groovy Version: 1.7.0 JVM: 1.6.0_17
(Update -- I just upgraded to 1.7.1 and get the same errors!)
I've tried to use enums, using the exact syntax from the groovy documentation, and each time I see the compile error:
Groovy:The class java.lang.Enum refers to the class java.lang.Enum and uses 1 parameters, but the referred class takes no parameters
Any ideas on what's going on?
For example: This code won't compile or run, and gets the error above.
enum VehicleStatus { OFF, IDLING, ACCELERATING, DECELARATING }
class Vehicle
{
Long id
Long version
VehicleStatus status
}
var currentDate=new Date();
currentDate.setFullYear(2011);
alert(currentDate); == this works, it sets the year to 2011 as expected.
alert((new Date()).setFullYear(2011)); == this one doesn't work.
Any idea why? Am I misunderstanding the syntax?
Hi I have some controls on an asp.net modal which I show manually via code behind. Now I am trying to attach a selector on one of the controls inside pageLoad(), problem being is that the modal container is initially set to visible=false.
I tried checking for length but it still throws exception
if ($('#<%= myControl.ClientId %>').length > 0)
{
$('#<%= myControl.ClientID %>').click(function() {
// Do work
});
}
Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'myControl' does not exist in the current context
As far as I know there is no web browser with built in validators for HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Developing web pages without validation is like using a compiler that doesn't do syntax analysis. Even Firefox with its excellent plugins aimed at developers like Firebug lacks plugins for CSS and JavaScript validation. Wouldn't it be useful to have these plugins? Am I missing something?
Are there any .NET testing frameworks which allow dynamic creation of tests without having to deal with a hokey Attribute syntax?
Something like:
foreach (var t in tests)
{
TestFx.Run(t.Name, t.TestDelegate);
}
But with the test reporting as you would expect...
I could do something like this with RowTests et al, but that seems hokey.
i want to declare a global link list for a name space in c# i tried to extern the link list but not know the correct syntax can any one tell me how to extren the variables.
I have this small JavaScript code which I need some help with:
function doFocus(text) {
if (text.value == "Enter Name") {
text.value = "Student Name -";
}
}
All I need here is when someone clicks on my textbox, the text "Student Name -" should change its color, and should text-align = left. I am looking for the appropriate syntax for something like text.color and text.align.
In C# 4, wasn't there a short cut for checking for null values like so:
if( myobject?.myproperty?.myotherproperty?.value != null )
The value would return null and not throw an exception.
Anyone have a link to how to use it or at least the syntax?
Doesn't prepare() escape any quotes(') in a PDO statement? For some reason when I do this:
$sql = "INSERT INTO sessions (id, name) VALUES (1,'O'brian')";
$query = $this->connection->prepare($sql);
$query->execute();
I get this error:
Could not insert record SQLSTATE[42000]: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'brian'.
How could this be if I'm using prepare()?
My friend has convinced me to start learning some C++, so my question is simple: where can I find some good tutorials for it?
But please don't link me to the usual dry boring tutorials that only tells you the function syntax, I need more thorough explanations. I get sidetracked very easily, and I need tutorials that are more on a human level, that I'll not only learn from, but enjoy reading as well.
So I'd appreciate any links that would help :)
what is the syntax (i.e. code example) in Lua so you can call a function prior to it being defined? i.e. how do you kind of create the function, but then add it's implementation further down in code.
So roughly like this:
define function name (doX) here somehow (i.e. subject of this question)
call doX here (further down in the code)
doX implemention here (i.e. all functions down at the bottom of the file)
I mean, we've all done it, making some changes and the checking them in with messages such "as made some changes" or "fixed a bug." Messages so inane, so pointless, you might as well have written "magical fun bus" in their place (of this, I am guilty), as it would be, perhaps, more descriptive. I ask you then, what is the most pointless, most off topic, strangest, or just WORST commit message you have ever authored?
Hello
I'm looking for a piece of relatively simple software to browse large C++ project. What I would like is something that is somewhere between a simple text editor and a full-blown IDE like Eclipse. I would like syntax highlighting, a way to see all classes/methods defined in a file, a way to find where a particular method is called from and where a variable is declared/defined.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
I'm writing a DSL where the "+" operator is strictly numeric, and the String "+" operator is messing up my implicit conversions. What's the syntax for unimporting an operator of the String class?
Thanks
I am writing a big code and I don't want it all to be in my main.c so I wrote a .inc file that has IF-ELSE statement with function and I was wondering can it be written like this:
#if var==1
process(int a)
{
printf("Result is: %d",2*a);
}
#else
process(int a)
{
printf("Result is: %d",10*a);
}
#endif
I tried to compile it but it gives me errors or in best case it just goes on the first function process without checking the var variable (it is set to 0).
I know Windows close kernel handles when an application crashes, but if I want to wait on this event, can I be sure it will happen in milisec or it might take a while? I would like to trigger a new function the moment one application is crashed and I'm checking if this handle is NULL but it seems like I can't get a NULL value in this case.
Is it possible to detect when a long running process started with shell-command crashes, so it can automatically be restarted? Without manually checking its buffer and restarting by hand.
In C# I can do this:
new SomeObjectType("abc", 10);
In other words, I can call new without assigning the created instance to any variable. However, in VB.Net it seems I cannot do the same thing.
New SomeObjectType("abc", 10) ' syntax error
Is there a way to do this in VB.Net?
I was unable to find any solution of my specific issue. I'm using Xcode 3.2. I'd like to indent the next line of function argument just one step in from the previous line:
somevariable = pow(
a,
b);
However, Xcode's syntax-aware indenting insists on converting the above into:
somevariable = pow(
a,
b);
Where the arguments are aligned with opening parenthesis of the function.
How can I make indenting be configured to match my preference?
