Learning to program in the modern era?

At this time, lets say in the modern era, in which order do you organize a programing course for teaching and/or learning, what should be learned first, what should emphasize:
Databases
Data structures
Design patterns
Programing paradigms(Procedural,
functional, OOP, ...etc )
Operating System
Some specific programing language
What about English if you are not
native speaker or doesn't know
English
AI
Anything else...
I ask this because in the university that I went, the programing course was awful it was not focus on what you were going to see out when you work what you were supposed to learn.
