  • Fetching JSON object from Servlet Java

    - by ChrisA
I want to create an application that will fetch a JSON object from a servlet to deserialize it, and then use its variables to do other things. My servlet has the following code in the doPost: protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { ObjectOutputStream os; os = new ObjectOutputStream(response.getOutputStream()); String s = new String("A String"); Gson gson = new Gson(); String gsonObject= gson.toJson(s); os.writeObject(gsonObject); os.close(); } Now, while the servlet is running, I can access it via a browser, if I post same code in the doGet method, that would download a servlet file, which is not what I want. What should I use in my second application that would connect to the servlet, fetch the object, so that I can manipulate it later? Thanks in advance.

  • Javascript and Twitter API rate limitation? (Changing variable values in a loop)

    - by Pablo
    Hello, I have adapted an script from an example of http://github.com/remy/twitterlib. It´s a script that makes one query each 10 seconds to my Twitter timeline, to get only the messages that begin with a musical notation. It´s already working, but I don´t know it is the better way to do this... The Twitter API has a rate limit of 150 IP access per hour (queries from the same user). At this time, my Twitter API is blocked at 25 minutes because the 10 seconds frecuency between posts. If I set up a frecuency of 25 seconds between post, I am below the rate limit per hour, but the first 10 posts are shown so slowly. I think this way I can guarantee to be below the Twitter API rate limit and show the first 10 posts at normal speed: For the first 10 posts, I would like to set a frecuency of 5 seconds between queries. For the rest of the posts, I would like to set a frecuency of 25 seconds between queries. I think if making somewhere in the code a loop with the previous sentences, setting the "frecuency" value from 5000 to 25000 after the 10th query (or after 50 seconds, it´s the same), that´s it... Can you help me on modify this code below to make it work? Thank you in advance. var Queue = function (delay, callback) { var q = [], timer = null, processed = {}, empty = null, ignoreRT = twitterlib.filter.format('-"RT @"'); function process() { var item = null; if (q.length) { callback(q.shift()); } else { this.stop(); setTimeout(empty, 5000); } return this; } return { push: function (item) { var green = [], i; if (!(item instanceof Array)) { item = [item]; } if (timer == null && q.length == 0) { this.start(); } for (i = 0; i < item.length; i++) { if (!processed[item[i].id] && twitterlib.filter.match(item[i], ignoreRT)) { processed[item[i].id] = true; q.push(item[i]); } } q = q.sort(function (a, b) { return a.id > b.id; }); return this; }, start: function () { if (timer == null) { timer = setInterval(process, delay); } return this; }, stop: function () { clearInterval(timer); timer = null; return this; }, empty: function (fn) { empty = fn; return this; }, q: q, next: process }; }; $.extend($.expr[':'], { below: function (a, i, m) { var y = m[3]; return $(a).offset().top y; } }); function renderTweet(data) { var html = ''; html += ''; html += twitterlib.ify.clean(data.text); html += ''; since_id = data.id; return html; } function passToQueue(data) { if (data.length) { twitterQueue.push(data.reverse()); } } var frecuency = 10000; // The lapse between each new Queue var since_id = 1; var run = function () { twitterlib .timeline('twitteruser', { filter : "'?'", limit: 10 }, passToQueue) }; var twitterQueue = new Queue(frecuency, function (item) { var tweet = $(renderTweet(item)); var tweetClone = tweet.clone().hide().css({ visibility: 'hidden' }).prependTo('#tweets').slideDown(1000); tweet.css({ top: -200, position: 'absolute' }).prependTo('#tweets').animate({ top: 0 }, 1000, function () { tweetClone.css({ visibility: 'visible' }); $(this).remove(); }); $('#tweets p:below(' + window.innerHeight + ')').remove(); }).empty(run); run();

  • Update JSON file C# W8 development

    - by AndrewB
At the moment, I've got a JSON file with content looking like this: { "username": "test", "someNumber":100 } I'm using JSON.Net to fetch the .JSON file from a webserver - C#: var http = new HttpClient(); http.MaxResponseContentBufferSize = Int32.MaxValue; var response = await http.GetStringAsync(URI); var result = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<DatClass.Result>(response); This works great together with the class getting/setting the properties. However, what I would like to know is whether there's a good way for a user to update the .JSON file through a textbox UI? As in: [textbox - update username] [update button] - username sent to server - .JSON file updated - [textblock - showing updated username in UI]. I'm not looking for exact code solutions, I'm rather looking for good solutions on this, and/or if this is a terrible idea of an easy database(?).

  • better understanding of JSF Life cycle

    - by gurupriyan.e
I need your help to understand this better. This is my case. I have a custom validator for each of my input controls in the form. So when there is any validation error,I add a corresponding FacesMessage in the validate method. My understanding was that when there is any validation error - or when there are any FacesMessages added in the validate method of the Custom Validator, it would skip the INVOKE APPLICATION phase and would directly call the RENDER RESPONSE PHASE - showing the FacesMessage that was added in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - Is this correct? The problem I'm facing is - I add a FacesMessage in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - because of a validation error - and I add a confirmation message for the action that was taken by the user in the INVOKE APPLICATION PHASE - Now both are shown in the page in the RENDER RESPONSE Phase ? - If my understanding is correct in the above question - is it the best practice to conditionally add a confirmation FacesMessage after confirming that there are no FacesMessages in the currect FacesContext ? Appreciate your help.

  • Sinatra not passing header with redirect

    - by emson
Hi All I have a simple Sinatra proxy, which when an endpoint is called, will redirect to another endpoint on the same Sinatra proxy. When I make a request with a header, the proxy doesn't seem to pass this header through to the second endpoint when the request redirects in the first. This is my code: get '/first' do # get the header from the request username = env['HTTP_USERNAME'] # set the header for the response response['username'] = username redirect '/second' end get '/second' do # This doesn't exist when redirected from /first puts env['HTTP_USERNAME'] # Here is a list of all headers env.each_key do |key| puts "KEY: #{key} VALUE: #{env[key]}" unless key.nil? end "DONE" end Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • WCF: Callback is not asynchronous

    - by Aquarius
Hi, I'm trying to program a client server based on the callback infrastructure provided by WCF but it isn't working asynchronously. My client connects to the server calling a login method, where I save the clients callback channel by doing MyCallback callback = OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel() After that the server does some processing and uses the callback object to communicate with the client. All this works, the problem resides on the fact that even though I've set the method in the OperationContract as IsOneWay=true, the server still hangs when doing the call to the client. I've tested this by launching the server for debug in the visual studio, detaching it, launching the client, calling the above mentioned login method, putting a break point in the implemented callback method of the client, and making the server send a response to the client. The server stops doing what it's supposed to do, waiting for the response of the client. Any help is appreciated.

  • Treating a fat webservice in .net 3.5 c#

    - by Chris M
I'm dealing with an obese 3rd party webservice that returns about 3mb of data for a simple search results, about 50% of the data in that response is junk. Would it make sense then to remap this data to my own result object and ditch the response so I'm storing 1-2 mb in memory for filtering and sorting rather than using the web-responses own object and using 2-4 or am I missing a point? So far I've been accessing the webservice from a separate project and using a new class to provide the interaction and to handle the persistence so my project looks like this |- Web (mvc2 proj) |- DAL (database/storage fluent-nhibernate) |- SVCGateway (interaction layer + webservice related models) |- Services -------------- |- Tests |- Specs I'm trying to make the application behave fast and I also need to store the result set temporarily in case a customer goes to view the product and wants to go back to the results. (Service returns only 500 of possible 14K results). So basically I'm looking for confirmation that I'm doing the right thing in pushing the results into my own objects or if I'm breaking some rule or even if there's a better way of handling it. Thanks

  • MooTools event listener disappears after element.innerHTML is changed

    - by acoder
Hi everyone, I am trying to achieve this task using MooTools. Description: I attached an event listener to "myButton" link. A click on this link initiates an AJAX request and updates "myDiv" content based on the response text. During this request a POST variable is being sent to "button.php", but it's not used at the moment.. (i wish to use it later) OK, as a result, "myDiv" gets exactly the same link with the same ID (myButton) + a random number, so that we could see that each click generates a new number. The problem: After the first click on "myButton", "myDiv" updates correctly, showing a random number. When I click "myButton" for the second time (this time in newly updated div), the div does not refresh anymore. Please note that I need "myButton" to be inside "myDiv", and "myDiv" must be updated (refreshed) after each click without having to refresh the entire page. Can somebody show me how to achieve this task based on this simplified code example? index.html <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="mootools-1.2.4-core-nc.js"></script> <script> window.addEvent('domready', function() { $('myButton').addEvent('click', function(e) { e.stop(); var myRequest = new Request({ method: 'post', url: 'button.php', data: { action : 'test' }, onRequest: function() { $('myDiv').innerHTML = '<img src="images/loading.gif" />'; }, onComplete: function(response) { $('myDiv').innerHTML = response; } }); myRequest.send(); $('myButton').removeEvent('click'); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="myDiv"> <a id="myButton" href="#">Button</a> </div> </body> </html> button.php <a id="myButton" href="#">Button</a> clicked <?php echo rand(1,100); ?>

It all works well... the only problem: the output from Log.i is cut-off... It's not the complete html page. If I make the same request in a browser, I get 3x the output in opposition to making the request in the emulator and using the above code.... what's wrong?

  • C# How to download files from FTP Server

  • a completely decoupled OO system ?

    - by shrini1000
To make an OO system as decoupled as possible, I'm thinking of the following approach: 1) we run an RMI/directory like service where objects can register and discover each other. They talk to this service through an interface 2) we run a messaging service to which objects can publish messages, and register subscription callbacks. Again, this happens through interfaces 3) when object A wants to invoke a method on object B, it discovers the target object's unique identity through #1 above, and publishes a message on the message service for object B 4) message services invokes B's callback to give it the message 5) B processes the request and sends the response for A on message service 6) A's callback is called and it gets the response. I feel this system is as decoupled as practically possible, but it has the following problems: 1) communication is typically asynchronous 2) hence it's non real time 3) the system as a whole is less efficient. Are there any other practical problems where this design obviously won't be applicable ? What are your thoughts on this design in general ?

  • Problem processing large data using Applet-Servlet communication

    - by Marquinio
Hi everyone. I have an Applet that makes a request to a Servlet. On the servlet it's using the PrintWriter to write the response back to Applet: out.println("Field1|Field2|Field3|Field4|Field5......|Field10"); There are about 15000 records, so the out.println() gets executed about 15000 times. Problem is that when the Applet gets the response from Servlet it takes about 15 minutes to process the records. I placed System.out.println's and processing is paused at around 5000, then after 15 minutes it continues processing and then its done. Has anyone faced a similar problem? The servlet takes about 2 seconds to execute. So seems that the browser/Applet is too slow to process the records. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

  • Issues in Ajax based applications

    - by Sinuhe
I'm very interested in developing Ajax based applications. This is, loading almost all of the content of the application via XMLHttpRequest, instead of only some combos and widgets. But if I try to do this form scratch, soon I find some problems without an easy solution. I wonder if there is some framework (both client and server side) to deal with this issues. As far as I know, there isn't (but I've searched mainly in Java world). So I am seriously thinking of doing my own framework, at least for my projects. Therefore, in this question I ask for several things. First, the possible problems of an ajax based development. Then, I'm looking for some framework or utility in order to deal with them. Finally, if there is no framework available, what features must it have. Here are the issues I thought: 1 - JavaScript must be enabled. Security paranoia isn't the only problem: a lot of mobile devices couldn't use the application, too. 2 - Sometimes you need to update more than one DIV (e.g. main content, menu and breadcrumbs). 3 - Unknown response type: when you make an Ajax call, you set the callback function too, usually specifying if expected response is a javascript object or in which DIV put the result. But this fails when you get another type of response: for example when the session has expired and the user must log in again. 4 - Browser's refresh, back and forward buttons can be a real pain. User will expect different behaviors depending on the situation. 5 - When search engines indexes a site, only follow links. Thus, content load by Ajax won't "exist" for who doesn't know about it yet. 6 - Users can ask for open a link in a different window/tab. 7 - Address bar doesn't show the "real" page you are in. So, you can't copy the location and send it to a friend or bookmark the page. 8 - If you want to monetize the site, you can put some advertisings. As you don't refresh entire page and you want to change the ad after some time, you have to refresh only the DIV where the ad is. But this can violate the Terms and Conditions of your ad service. In fact, it can go against AdSense TOS. 9 - When you refresh an entire page, all JavaScript gets "cleaned". But in Ajax calls, all JavaScript objects will remain. 10 - You can't easily change your CSS properties.

  • What is wrong with this attempt of sending a break-signal?

    - by Jook
I have quite a headache about this seemingly easy task: send a break signal to my device, like the wxTerm (or any similar Terminal application) does. This signal has to be 125ms long, according to my tests and the devices specification. It should result in a specific response, but what I get is a longer response than expected, and the transmitted date is false. e.g.: what it should respond 08 00 81 00 00 01 07 00 what it does respond 08 01 0A 0C 10 40 40 07 00 7F What really boggles me is, that after I have used wxTerm to look at my available com-ports (without connecting or sending anything), my code starts to work! I can send then as many breaks as I like, I get my response right from then on. I have to reset my PC in order to try it again. What the heck is going on here?! Here is my code for a reset through a break-signal: minicom_client(boost::asio::io_service& io_service, unsigned int baud, const string& device) : active_(true), io_service_(io_service), serialPort(io_service, device) { if (!serialPort.is_open()) { cerr << "Failed to open serial port\n"; return; } boost::asio::serial_port_base::flow_control FLOW( boost::asio::serial_port_base::flow_control::hardware ); boost::asio::serial_port_base::baud_rate baud_option(baud); serialPort.set_option(FLOW); serialPort.set_option(baud_option); read_start(); std::cout << SetCommBreak(serialPort.native_handle()) << std::endl; std::cout << GetLastError() << std::endl; boost::posix_time::ptime mst1 = boost::posix_time::microsec_clock::local_time(); boost::this_thread::sleep(boost::posix_time::millisec(125)); boost::posix_time::ptime mst2 = boost::posix_time::microsec_clock::local_time(); std::cout << ClearCommBreak(serialPort.native_handle()) << std::endl; std::cout << GetLastError() << std::endl; boost::posix_time::time_duration msdiff = mst2 - mst1; std::cout << msdiff.total_milliseconds() << std::endl; } Edit: It was only necessary to look at the combo-box selection of com-ports of wxTerm - no active connection was needed to be established in order to make my code work. I am guessing, that there is some sort of initialisation missing, which is done, when wxTerm is creating the list for the serial-port combo-box.

  • Why await is not taken in consideration after deploy?

    - by Cristian Boariu
I have a method which does some sync calls to a specific REST api, something like: WSRequestHolder url = WS.url("rest_api_url"); Promise<WS.Response> promisePerPage = url.get(); promisePerPage.getWrappedPromise().await(3000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS); WS.Response responsePerPage = promisePerPage.get(); ProductsWrapper productsWrapper = new Gson().fromJson(responsePerPage.getBody(), ProductsWrapper.class); As you notice, I put 3 seconds between calls so each request can be parsed in time and inserted in DB. All works great locally but after I deploy to cloud, all goes continuously, without any more waiting (3 seconds) between requests... Do you know why?

  • Chrome Extension - Dynamic Right-Click Menu

    - by user1277607
    I am trying to create an option in the right-click menu that is dynamic based on the user's action. If the user selects some text, then right-clicks, the option will say "Display It". If the user right-clicks without selecting some text, the option will say "Select Some Text First" and be grayed out. I am wondering how do I achieve this? I currently have it so that the option will appear only when the user has selected some text. I am unsure how to modify it to meet my second requirements. chrome.contextMenus.create ({ title:"Display It!", contexts:["selection"], onclick:function(info,tab) { chrome.tabs.sendRequest( tab.id, {callFunction: "displaySidebar", info: info}, function(response) {console.log(response);} ); } });

  • any way to use ajax with jstl customtags without duplicating tags in javascript?

    - by CodeMonkeyB
I am working on a page where part of the content is loaded normally and the pages are rendered using jsps. The product images and links generated on that page are by custom jstl tags. When the user scrolls more products are requested from the server in a JSON response and then using UnderscoreJS templates they are rendered and added to the bottom of the page. Is there any way I can use the JSTL tags in Javascript without recreating them using a javascript function (it won't be possible to re-create all of them in javascript). What is the best way to handle this scenario? I guess I could return a rendered html response for the ajax call, but that would mean I have some ajax requests which use json and some that use rendered html...
