  • Accessing apache in ubuntu 10 virtualbox guest from ubuntu 10 host

    - by Francis L
I did the following: installed VirtualBox 3.1.6 OSE in ubuntu 10 desktop. installed ubuntu 10 server on a virtual machine in VirtualBox. select "LAMP server" and "OpenSSH server" options during the ubuntu server installation. leave network "adapter 1" of virtual machine as "NAT". use "VBoxManage" described in manual to setup port forwarding on the host (Protocol: TCP, GuestPort: 80, HostPort: 8080). verify "ExtraDataItem" have been added to "ubuntuServer1.xml" (my virtual machine name) correctly. run command "pgrep apache" in ubuntu server in virtual machine to ensure apache is running. Everything went well. But, when I try to access the apache from the browser on the host with "http://localhost:8080/", it just continue fetching with no response. Now, I'm struck! Please help! Many many thanks in advance!

  • Apache httpd Problem

    - by Christopher
Hey, I am getting intermittent issues with my site. Pages often hang with huge loading times and sometimes fail to load. The httpd error logs contain the following: [Wed Feb 23 06:54:17 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1854): proxy: grabbed scoreboard slot 0 in child 5871 for worker proxy:reverse [Wed Feb 23 06:54:17 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1967): proxy: initialized single connection worker 0 in child 5871 for (*) [Wed Feb 23 06:54:24 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1854): proxy: grabbed scoreboard slot 0 in child 5872 for worker proxy:reverse [Wed Feb 23 06:54:24 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1873): proxy: worker proxy:reverse already initialized [Wed Feb 23 06:54:24 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1967): proxy: initialized single connection worker 0 in child 5872 for (*) [Wed Feb 23 06:59:15 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1854): proxy: grabbed scoreboard slot 0 in child 5954 for worker proxy:reverse [Wed Feb 23 06:59:15 2011] [debug] proxy_util.c(1873): proxy: worker proxy:reverse already initialized The server is currently running with 800mb free memory, so it is not caused by lack of RAM. The current number of httpd procceses is 11. This does increase as the error persists and can rise up to 25+. Also, I am running Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Chris.

  • Windows Server 2008 SMTP & POP3 Configuration

    - by Alex Hope O'Connor
This is the first time I have ever configured a VPS server without 3rd party applications such as Plesk control panel. I have got most functionality working in all my websites except I am very unsure as to how I can setup my email functionality on this new server. Basically I want the standard POP3 functionality, a bunch of accounts with private boxes, all able to send and receive emails using their individual usernames and passwords. My server setup is pretty simple, its a VPS with IIS & DNS Server running. What I have tried to do to setup SMTP & POP3 is adding the SMTP Server feature through the Server Manager Console (very unsure of the configuration as guides I found did not explain), I then installed a 3rd party application called Visdeno SMTP Extender as it claims to be a POP3 service providing accounting and the ability to communicate with email clients. That is as far as I have gotten as I can not seem to find too much information on the subject. So can someone please tell me how to go about configuring these services in order to provide standard SMTP & POP3 functionality? Thanks, Alex.

  • How to use nsupdate to create NAPTR record

    - by Jon Skarpeteig
What's a working example for creating a NAPTR record using nsupdate against Bind9? man nsupdate sais: update add {domain-name} {ttl} [class] {type} {data...} Adds a new resource record with the specified ttl, class and data. But I can't seem to find the correct format for NAPTR My attempt: echo -e 'update add enum.example.com 60 IN NAPTR 1.1.1.1.1."u"."E2U+sip"."!^.*[email protected]!" .'"\nsend"|nsupdate results in: invalid rdata format: not a valid number syntax error

  • Understanding how Tracert works

    - by iridescent
From what I gathered so far, Tracert works by sending 3 ICMP echo messages. Starting with a TTL value of 1. For each router the packet encounters, the TTL value will be decremented. For the 1st router, 1-1 = 0, so an ICMP "time exceeded" message will be sent back to the sender machine. Next, the TTL value will be incremented to 2 by the sender machine and the cycle repeats for the 2nd router (2--1--0) and so on. Please correct me if my undestanding is flawed. I am curious as to why the ICMP "time exceeded" message isn't displayed by Tracert in Command Prompt since it is in fact an error message ? The cycle simply proceeds on. Thanks.

  • Properly Configured Rsyslog on CentOS

    - by Gaia
I'm trying to configure Rsyslog 5.8.10 on CentOS 6.4 to send Apache's error and access logs to a remote server. It's working, but I have a couple questions. A) I would like to use as few queues (and resources) as possible. I send error logs to server A, send access logs to server A, send both logs in one stream to server B. Should I specify one queue per external service (2 queues) or one queue per stream (3 queues, as I have now)? • Trying to install ffmpeg-php and having installation issues.

    - by dallasclark
I've installed ffmpeg successfully using the ffmpeginstaller 3 series (http://www.ffmpeginstaller.com/download). ffmpeg is working fine without any known issues with bash. The ffmpeginstaller is meant to install ffmpeg-php but it cannot be found and I receive an error when I execute php -v PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Looking at the '/usr/lib64/php/modules/' folder, it doesn't contain the ffmpeg.so file. I've tried to install ffmpeg-php manually but I receive the following error checking for ffmpeg headers... configure: error: ffmpeg headers not found. Make sure you've built ffmpeg as shared libs using the --enable-shared option Should I install ffmpeg with series 4 or 5 of ffmpeginstaller or does someone know how to fix this issue? • Postfix/ClamAV not stopping viruses under Virtualmin

    - by Josh
I am using Virtualmin and have it set up to have Postfix scan incoming emails with ClamAV (using clamdscan) and delete any emails which contain a virus. However when I email myself the EICAR test string, it comes through just fine. I know ClamAV will report this file as a virus. How can I troubleshoot this / what could be wrong?

  • Why should I use cobbler over normal PXEBOOT server?

    - by luckytaxi
Maybe it's me but I find it easier to manage my simple pxeboot server just by editing the default file under /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg. I have my kickstart file available over NFS along with the DVD extracted to a centralize mount point. Other than PXEBOOT, what benefit would I get from running cobbler? It was confusing at first but I finally got the hang off it. The only benefit I see is being able to force a server to install an OS on demand. Anything else?

  • What backup solution for Windows 2008 R2 servers on XenServer 5.0?

    - by Niels R.
A friend of mine is hosting a lot of Linux VM's on his servers using XenServer 5.0. He uses rdiff-backup to make daily backups. I'm trying to convince him to host some Windows VM's (Windows 2008 R2 Web Edition) too, so he could provide (me) .NET hosting. The main problem at the moment is a backup strategy for these Windows VM's. I would like to see something like a weekly full backup (snapshot of the VM?) with daily incrementals. I've looked at Windows Backup, but because the backups are made onto network shares it doesn't provide incrementals (for what I understand). Does anyone has any experience with this situation? How did you solve this in a "not-too-hard-to-install/maintain" way?

  • DNS and DHCP not agreeing on an IP address

    - by Mr. Jefferson
I'm having a problem where our Windows Server 2003 domain controller assigns my Windows 7 computer one IP address (x.x.x.75) via DHCP, but reports another (x.x.x.84) via DNS. This causes some interesting behavior on the network. If I change my adapter settings to get IP and DNS addresses from DHCP, I can access the internet, but no one on our network can access my computer. If I change my IP manually to what DNS says it is, I lose my internet access, but everyone can get to my computer again. I know that we have some old, invalid reverse DNS pointers hanging around (a reverse lookup on an IP address often gives more than one result, usually not including the one that is correct), so that could be contributing, but my problem is recent, and the invalid reverse pointers have been around a long time. What's going on, and how do I fix it?

  • Easyphp Web Setup

    - by Dominique
I've tried to setup an EasyPHP in local and make it visible from the Web via DynDNS, which I've already successed many times before, but now this just doesn't work, maybe I've forgotten something... *The "server" is a common workstation. Here is what I have done : 1) Installed EasyPhp (with a index.php/html file in WWW folder) 2) Changed the port in the config to port 80 3) Forwarded port 80 to the server IP in my router configuration 4) Added the server to the router DMZ *Also tried removing antivirus/firewall I've installed PortListener, pointed it on port 80, and when I access "myname.dyndns.com" it says Client connected GET / HTTP/1.1 Host: xyz.dyndns-remote.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; fr; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,/;q=0.8 Accept-Language: fr,fr-fr;q=0.8,en-us;q=0.5,en;q=0.3 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Connection: keep-alive So the server is accessible via Web, receive the connection successfully, but in my browser it says that the connection failed and show nothing...

  • How do I enable PHP’s flush() with nginx+PHP-FPM?

    - by abrahamvegh
I’m using nginx with PHP-FPM (APC is installed). I need PHP’s flush() to work. Is this possible? Things I’ve tried so far: Disabling all output buffering in php.ini, as well as output compression. Disabling gzip in nginx’s configuration. Setting nginx’s fastcgi_* buffering settings and fastcgi_max_temp_file_size to zero. I’m sure I must be missing something, since I’ve run across many posts here and elsewhere where people claimed they’ve got it working, but I’m having no luck, it would seem.

  • How to upgrade Apache 2 from 2.2 to 2.4

    - by Nina
I was in the process of doing a test upgrade from Apache 2.2 to 2.4.3. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. I would have upgraded to 12.04 for this to see if the upgrade would go a lot smoother. Unfortunately, I was told it wasn't an option...so I'm stuck using 10.04. The process I did this was: Before attempting this, I have managed to upgrade APR from 1.3 to 1.4 as well since apache told me it was a requirement beforehand: http://apr.apache.org/download.cgi First remove all traces of the current apache: sudo apt-get --purge remove apache2 sudo apt-get remove apache2-common apache2-utils apache2.2-bin apache2-common sudo apt-get autoremove whereis apache2 sudo rm -Rf /etc/apache2 /usr/lib/apache2 /usr/include/apache2 Afterwards, I did the following: sudo apt-get install build-essential sudo apt-get build-dep apache2 Then install apache 2.4 with the following: wget http://apache.mirrors.tds.net//httpd/httpd-2.4.3.tar.gz tar -xzvf httpd-2.4.3.tar.gz && cd httpd-2.4.3 sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --with-apr=/usr/local/apr --enable-mods-shared=all --enable-deflate --enable-proxy --enable-proxy-balancer --enable-proxy-http --with-mpm=prefork sudo make sudo make install After the make install, I ended up getting a series of errors that prevented it from installing correctly: exports.c:2513: error: redefinition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_current' exports.c:1838: note: previous definition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_current' was here exports.c:2514: error: redefinition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_name_get' exports.c:1839: note: previous definition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_name_get' was here exports.c:2515: error: redefinition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_get' exports.c:1840: note: previous definition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_get' was here exports.c:2516: error: redefinition of 'ap_hack_apr_uid_homepath_get' Looking for exports.c only leads me back to the httpd-2.4.3 folder. So I'm not sure what these errors mean... Thanks in advance for any help you have to offer!

  • Disable remote session timeout on Win Server 2012 R2

    - by Sarchophagi
For botting purposes, I have to keep my Win Server 2012 R2 running without logging-off after I disconnect from Remote Session. Found information about it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754272.aspx but I just its for Win Server 2008 and doesn't seem to work on 2012 version. Could you guys help me setting infinite timout? EDIT: Tried this answer Changing the login timeout for Windows Remote Desktop Services but without results.. MORE DETAIL ABOUT WHAT I NEED: I connect to Amazon ECL Istance with "Remote Desktop Conection". I need to put remote server to keep running as if an user was normally remotely logged in, and prevent it from going to that log-out stand-by screen, usually blue coloured @ winserver2012, because i'm using macros that take screenshots of screen and find bitmap positions, do clicks, move mouse and stuff..

  • Novell eDirectory—How can I aggregate account lockout events?

    - by bshacklett
I'm seeing an account become locked out pretty frequently and I wanted to pull an aggregated log together of all of the lockout events so I could get a better idea of what times it's occurring. Normally I'd do this with EventCombMT.exe, but I'm in a Novell environment at the moment. Is there a Novell equivalent to Microsoft's ALTools or another diagnostic utility I could use to help aggregate lockout events into an easy to read log file?
