• How can I Fix the CD/DVD refresh for the media drive so that Ubuntu 10.10 recognize it automatically?

  Hello Community, I have recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and it seems to work flawlessly. But today I tried to check some CDs and I was surprised that Ubuntu doesn't automatically refresh the CD/DVDs inserted in my media drive. I had to eject manually the CD/DVD from Ubuntu and then Insert the new CD and only then Ubuntu reads the data in the newly inserted CD/DVD. How can I fix the CD/DVD refresh for the media drive so that Ubuntu 10.10 recognize it automatically?

  I was building and updating my server using EasyApache when the web browser crashed, the browser then restarted and I think tried to run another of the EasyApache build which failed .. possibly due to the previous one still running? My question is would the first one still be running in the background but I just can't view it anymore? Is there anyway to check that the first one built and finished okay?

  I am newbie of Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome3 Shell. Laptop Model: HP Pavilion DV6 1280US Full Updates Installed. I can hear sound played only when headphones are plugged in. Regular inbuilt speakers doesn't work. Speakers are fine, it should be some technical configuration/driver issue with OS. They work in the Windows OS in the same laptop. My requirements are given an exe with version number (major.minor.build-number) 1) I want to map the version to a svn source revision that made the exe 2) With the source and exe I should be able to attach and debug in vs2010 with no issue. 3) Once I check-out the source code for the exe I should be able to build the exe again with the version number without having to make any changes to a file.

  Error during update A problem occurred during the update. This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry. W:Failed to fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_universe_i18n_Translation-en Encountered a section with no Package: header , E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. I can browse web sites normally during this time though (my network is ok).

• Why all of my ports are not open or reachable? how can i open them

  I was testing the ports because WoW(3724 TCP 6112 TCP 6881-6999 TCP) couldn't connect to the internet so i downloaded PFPortChecker application and run it using Wine(1.3) and after i tried to check every port it seems like it's not reachable/closed why is that? my firewall is off so why is this happening? how can i open these ports? and how can i see if these ports are opened or not and the important thing is how can i know which application is using them

  I want to create a game, where the world is loaded from an image file, much like Paradox Interactive does it for their games. If I have this image: Then the red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, white, black and grey should be different provinces. I know how to loop through them, and check if it's a new province, the problem is that I don't know how to define the region of the province for selection: I don't know how I can load in data, to make sure you can click anywhere on that province, and make sure it gets selected.
