What does jQuery do differently when you specify the datatype as html as opposed to text. I haven't seen a difference but there must be some subtleties I'm missing. If I wish to return a portion of an html page as a string does it matter which I use?

How can I loop that elements var?
$(document).ready(function(){
var element = $('#imageIds').val().split(",");
// how to loop this elements using jquery
});
if one of the main benefits of jquery is cross browser javascript support, does that become less valuable as more browsers aim to become standards compliant and the same javascript works on all browsers?
Heya,
I have just implemented the excellent jQuery UI autocomplete.
http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/
There is a strange bug in IE 8 (and maybe other versions).
When you select an item from the box of suggestions in IE 8 the cursor moves to the begining of the textbox before the suggested word which has just been inserted.
Firefox put the cursor after the inserted word.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Regards
Steve

How can I get the selected value of a dropdown box using jQuery?

hi,
I'm using Drupal for a website and I can only use jQuery 1.2.7 (not the most recent versions).
I want to fade in / fade out a div element and I'm using mouseover / mouseout functions.
However, this element contains some children and when I move the mouse over it, the mouseout function is triggered, because I'm moving over one of its children.
Since I don't have mouseleave function, how can I solve this issue ?
thanks
I'm sending an ajax request that will either give me an error or a userID
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<error>1000</error>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<userID>8</userID>
how can I find out if the root element is error or userID using jquery or just javascript in general. Using the find method doesn't appear to work if what you're trying to access is the root element
{"paging": {"pageNum":2,"action":"Next","type":"","availableCacheName":"getAllFunds","selectedCacheName":"","showFrom":101,"showTo":200,"totalRec":289,"pageSize":100},

I have a aspx page (details page) that needs to be loaded in a modal window on a click of a button. I have buttons in the aspx page that calls server side functionality. So, this is similar to an IFrame way (except that it's now in a modal window)
Is there a JQuery way of doing this?
I need to check the checked property of a checkbox and perform an action based on the checked property using jQuery.
For example, if the age checkbox is checked, then I need to show a textbox to enter age, else hide the textbox.
But the following code returns false by default:
if($('#isAgeSelected').attr('checked')) {
$("#txtAge").show();
} else {
$("#txtAge").hide();
}
How do I successfully query the checked property?
I know this exists out there, somewhere but I haven't found it in a few hours of searching. I simply have to load a clients external page into an IFRAME, but I want to use jquery ui to present the loading image while it's grabbing the external data.
Simple yes, but I've seen pieces of this not the whole thing.
If i submit my ajax form from jQuery, and do
print_r($_FILES);
i get a list of files uploaded,
but if i do something like this
$add_form->sound_file->isUploaded();
or
$params = $this->_getAllParams();
print_r($params);
i don't get my file in zend parametars, and i don't get it uploaded!?
Mayb the problem is with he context beng ajax?!

$('#mainDiv input.error:eq(0)')
But the above one working only for input elements only.
How to make this one to work for both input and select elements?
In IE, The selector for multiple inputs is not working whereas in firefox it is.

Hi,
What is the correct jQuery syntax to only select certain file types?
e.g.
$("#fragment-1 a[SELECT ONLY ANCHOR TAGS WITH FILE TYPE OF MP3]").hide();
Thanks.
I have a bunch of input text boxes that have the attribute ORIGINAL set to their initial value, so that when the user changes the textbox value, jQuery can highlight items that have changed (by comparing the text box's current value to the ORIGINAL attribute's value)
What Im trying to do now is provide the user with a button that they can click to revert all text boxes back to their original values based on the value of the ORIGINAL attribute of each text box.
Example
$('input[type=text]').val($(this).attr('original'));
The above doesnt work and I dont understand why.
