    I have been trying to figure this one out, how do i test that a private method is called with rhino mocks with in the class that I am testing. So my class would be something like this. Public class Foo { public bool DoSomething() { if(somevalue) { //DoSomething; } else { ReportFailure("Failure"); } } private void ReportFailure(string message) { //DoSomeStuff; } } So my unit test is on class Foo and method DoSomething() I want to check and make sure that a certain message is passed to ReportFailure if somevalue is false, using rhino mocks.

    Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine.   • Free hosting service for private and public git repositories

    Hi, does anyone know a free service for hosting private and public git repositories? There are a lot of services like for example the well known github. Most of them only allow hosting of public repositories. I want to host one or more of my private programming projects using git, but not all of them should be public (at least not for now). I also found the free service GitFarm which is build using the Google App Engine technology, but i couldn't find any information how it works (don't know what "built on Google App Engine technology" means) or if there are any other limitations. Also it seams like there is no web front-end available. An integrated web front-end, bug tracker and stuff like this would also be a big plus!

  • Best practice for copying private instance vars with NSCopying

    I might be missing something obvious here, but I'm implementing NSCopying on one of my objects. That object has private instance variables that are not exposed via getters, as they shouldn't be used outside the object. In my implementation of copyWithZone:, I need alloc/init the new instance, but also set up its state to match the current instance. I can obviously access current private state from inside copyWithZone:, but I can't set it into the new object, because there are no accessors for that state. Is there a standard way around this while still keeping data privacy intact? Thanks.

    Is it possible to define private variables in a PHP script so these variables are only visible in this single PHP script and nowhere else? I want to have an include file which does something without polluting the global namespace. It must work with PHP 5.2 so PHP namespaces are not an option. And no OOP is used here so I'm not searching for private class members. I'm searching for "somewhat-global" variables which are global in the current script but nowhere else. In C I could do it with the static keyword but is there something similar in PHP? Here is a short example of a "common.php" script: $dir = dirname(__FILE__); set_include_path($dir . PATH_SEPARATOR . get_include_path()); // Do more stuff with the $dir variable When I include this file in some script then the $dir variable is visible in all other scripts as well and I don't want that. So how can I prevent this?

I'm planning to user Paperclip for dealing with uploads. If I store the images under "RAILS_ROOT/public/images", anyone who could guess the name of the files might access the files. (e.g., accessing http://example.com/public/images/uploads/john/family.png ) I need to show the images using img tags, so I cannot place a file except public. How can I ensure that images of a user or group is not accessible by others?

  • Allocated Private Bytes keeps going up in one computer but not the other

    OK, this may sound weird, but here goes. There are 2 computers, A (Pentium D) and B (Quad Core) with almost the same amount of RAM. If I run the same code on both computers, the allocated private bytes in A never goes down resulting in a crash later on. In B it looks like the private bytes is constantly deallocated and everything looks fine. In both computers, the working set is deallocated and allocated similarly. Could this be an issue with manifests or DLLs (system)? I'm clueless. Note: I observed the utilized memory with Process Explorer.

    if a class has a private constructor then it cant be instantiated. so, if i dont want my class to be instantiated and still use it, then i can make it static. what is the use of a private constructor ? Also its used in singleton class, except that, is there any othe use ?     My question may be a part of an old topic - "properties vs fields". I have situation where variable is read-only for outside class but needs to modified inside a class. I can approach it in 2 ways: First: private Type m_Field; public Type MyProperty { get { return m_Field; } } Second: public Type MyProperty { get; private set; } After reading several articles (that mostly covered benefits of using public properties instead of public fields) I did not get idea if the second method has some advantage over the first one but writing less code. I am interested which one will be better practice to use in projects (and why) or it's just a personal choice. Maybe this question does not belong to SO so I apologize in advance.

    Hello, In a attempt to put some more oop in a program i am looking to make a private instance variable in one class (object) accesable to a class. private byte [][] J; All those code refers to this jagged array with this. Now in the other class i putted all the for loops along with the consolewritlines to display the wanted results. Basicly it says "the name J does not exist in the current context" But how exactly do i make this J accesable? I have tried with get and set but i keep getting 'cannot convert to byte to byte[][]' Also what kind of cyntax would i need with get and set? Something along like this?   • Help with abstract class in Java with private variable of type List<E>

    Hi, It's been two years since I last coded something in Java so my coding skills are bit rusty. I need to save data (an user profile) in different data structures, ArrayList and LinkedList, and they both come from List. I want to avoid code duplication where I can and I also want to follow good Java practices. For that, I'm trying to create an abstract class where the private variables will be of type List<E> and then create 2 sub-classes depending on the type of variable. What am I doing wrong? Do you have any recommendations? 2) It would make more sense for me to have the constructors in DBList and calling them (with super()) in the subclasses but I can't do that because I can't initialize a variable with new List<E>(). 3) I was thought to do deep copies whenever possible and for that I always override the clone() method of my classes and code it accordingly. But those classes never had any lists, sets or maps on them, they only had strings, ints, floats. How do I do deep copies in this situation?

  • How to scrape a _private_ google group?

    Hi there, I'd like to scrape the discussion list of a private google group. It's a multi-page list and I might have to this later again so scripting sounds like the way to go. Since this is a private group, I need to login in my google account first. Unfortunately I can't manage to login using wget or ruby Net::HTTP. Surprisingly google groups is not accessible with the Client Login interface, so all the code samples are useless. My ruby script is embedded at the end of the post. The response to the authentication query is a 200-OK but no cookies in the response headers and the body contains the message "Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on." I got the same output with wget. See the bash script at the end of this message. I don't know how to workaround this. am I missing something? Any idea? Thanks in advance.
