My Laptop has Intel integrated graphics. Is it possible to buy an Nvidia graphics card and add it in a laptop? I'm not sure if there will be additional slots in a laptop.

How do I convert video files for use on the AppleTV? I've tried Handbrake but it crashes on a lot of the video files I have. Any alternatives that are free? I've got an Intel Mac running Snow Leopard.
Hello, I have two drives in a raid 1 (mirroring) array. Hardware raid using whatever is built into an Intel motherboard. (asus P5BE)
I'd like to remove one drive but keep the data in both (I want to put one of the drives into another machine).
Can I go into the raid configuration and remove the array and have the data remain?
Hello,
I have a RS232C/USB cable to connect an electronic device to my iMac Intel (MacOSX SnowLeo 10.6.3).
Is there a utility program that allows for sending ASCII characters on the USB port that the RS232C device will understand?
If possible, I'd rather avoid programming. I'd prefer an Automator script or a simple program with a GUI.
Thanks
Can a Gateway Solo5300 laptop be upgraded enough to run Windows XP? It has an Intel Mobile Pentium III processor with 64MB DRAM (PC100) upgradeable to 512MB and a 10GB hard drive.
I just got a really good deal on two Intel Quad Core Xeon L5420 processors and I have access to other deals on bare IBM servers (case+motherboard, no processor/ram/hdd). How can I easily find out what server or motherboard models will be compatible with this processor? I am ideally looking for a dual-processor motherboard and I see that it is socket LGA771.
So I guess the underlying question is, how can I find what IBM motherboards (and servers) have dual socket LGA 771?

Windows boots only if setup DVD is present(i have to ignore "press any key to boot from DVD" prompt). to present the login Screen and everything looks great from here. But the server wont boot without the help of setup DVD. Can any one help me understand what would be the problem?

I've just got a really old MacBook and I want to upgrade it to the latest OS version. I do not know if it supports to be upgraded, the config of this MacBook is as below:

Processor speed: 1.83 GHz
The number of processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2

I'd like to read small text file, located at: /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch without root permissions. It contains information about graphic cards (dedicated ATI Radeon and integrated Intel HD3000).
I wrote a simple script displaying infomation I need, but it works only with root privileges. I already tried changing file & folder permissions, but when I restart my computer, the problem remains. Is it possible to permanently change that file permissions or owner?
Could someone with more PC building experience than me tell me whether these PC components can cooperate fully as a self-made PC?

I have two exactly the same servers and very curious how to make Infiniband interconnection between them? Both servers' basic specs are:
CPU: 32GHz = 2x Intel Xeon X5650, 6 core, 2.66GHz and RAM: 24GB per server (edited)
How determine what speed of Infiniband will be enough for perfect interconnection? SDR, DDR, QDR or FDR?
My logic is 32Ghz = 32Gb/s and 40Gb one is enough, am I right or it is not that simple?
Here are my PC's specs:

I understand the 32 bit Vista limit in addressing only 4Gb of memory space but I have a very specific question:
I have 3Gb installed on a Vista 32 bit system with a 512Mb video card, MSI X-58 board, Intel i7, 920 CPU.
System Information currently shows:
Installed Memory: 3.00Gb
Available Physical Memory: 1.73 Gb
My understanding is that the 512Mb video card occupies memory addresses between 4.0Gb and 3.5Gb and so does not subtract from the 3.0Gb of physical memory (correct my understanding if wrong)
My Question: If I install another 1Gb of RAM, will my Available Memory increase to 2.73Gb?
Thanks, Bob423
I want to reduce the brightness of my monitor as per my wish .

I am trying to keep the icons size and position to the place where I've shutdown my computer.
That is:
Keep desktop icons to the right and at a small size.
When I restart my computer, the get a medium size and are all aligned to the left.
Note:
Align icons on grid UNCHECKED
Auto arrange icons UNCHECKED
When I create a new account I dont have this problem
Cleared registry with CCleaner
Uninstalled all Intel Graphics Accelerator
Windows updated
I use only 1 monitor
I've bought this laptop "Dell Vostro 3700", having inside an Intel integrated graphic card and an Nvidia GeForce GT330M.
Depending on energy saving mode it switches between the two video cards.
When I try to update the video driver (now version 189.99 on Windows 7 64-bit) with that found on Nvidia site an error message say that it cannot find compatible graphic hardware.
Dell doesn't provide a newer driver version.
Has anyone solved the same problem?
I'm looking for a desktop board that supports either VT-D (Intel) or IOMMU (AMD) technology. This is the IO virtualization technology, not VT-x for CPU virtualization. I've found a list of chipsets that are purported to have this, but every board I look at, the vendor has decided to not support that feature. I would really prefer a desktop board over a server board for this.
Does anyone have a specific model that is known to support this technology?
I want to install windows xp with pendrive as my dvdrom doesnt work. When i go to bios setup and boot device options,i cant find any option for pendrive. Here's my boot device options:

My Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop features the Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 processor. When I bought it, it came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Basic, 32-bit. I'm considering upgrading it to Windows 7 Home Premium, but I don't know whether I should order the 64-bit or 32-bit version. The information I found on the web has been confusing.
Does anyone know if my laptop supports 64-bit OS?
