Hello, i cant download the plugin opencollada from the oficial server http://www.opencollada.org/download.html
Can anyone tell me where to download it for 3dstudio max 2010? Thanks
How do I download a gtk+ theme and install it on a computer running Windows?
I know that I can select a few of the themes from the theme selector, but not sure how I install one.
For some reason when watching quicktime moves in firefox the transport bar is completely black. I can still use it to fast forward and rewind but I can't actually see any of the buttons. Any clue how to fix this?
I've updated to the latest version of quicktime but it didn't help.
I've also verified that this behavior is the same in both firefox and chrome.
I recently purchased a copy of Windows 7 online. Upon trying to install, it stopped and I was told that it could not find a 64 bit driver for my CD/DVD and I could not finish install.
I contacted Microsoft and was told that this was something called an MSDN version according to the product key and that was the reason for the problem. They also said is was illegal to sell it to me.
The company I bought it from never returned my calls or emails and luckily I got money back through Amazon. Amazon didn't even want me to send it back. Anyway my question is, is there anyway to load this onto my system and will I have problems or should I just throw it out? Any help would be great. Thanks
Greetings!
I need to get a laptop for dev work ( mostly server side Java, NetBeans ) and wonder if anyone had a chance to use either the i5 or i7 based laptop?
Is the i7 an overkill? ... or will the i5 handle it just fine? I'm thinking something from the HP line running Ubuntu.
Thanks
In order to consolidate all my email, I wanted to forward all my Gmail(2 accounts) to a new Live(Hotmail) account.
I wanted all email arriving at my Gmail account to be forwarded to my Hotmail(easy enough) BUT I ALSO want all email arriving at Gmail to be replied back to sender with a message like: "Your email has been delivered BUT the user has moved onto [email protected] . Please further all communication to this email".
Using Outlook as my email client, how can I work this out?
Are there mouse pens that work with a Dell laptop running Vista and Word 2007 that allow direct input into Word using the Vista tablet functionality? Currently I can write with my mouse and the tablet OCR recognizes even that poor handwriting but if there is a pen-shaped mouse that I could just plug and play that would be great. Any brands/education etc would be greatly appreciated as I am woefully ignorant on this technology.
Hi,
We do a kickstart installation of FC-10 at our place. I am quite intimidated by the distribution update pop up that comes up after the O/S installation. I want a keyword to put into the kickstart file that would stop Fedora from intimating with an update pop-up.
Is it possible to include such a switch in the kickstart OR a script that could be added to post.bash?
Thanks,
Sayan
Is there a way to run git within Powershell?
I have a Windows 7 box with msysgit. I'd like to have a single shell to also run all my git commands as well as play around with Powershell scripting.
Hi -
I have a New Dell Studio XPS latop that I hooked up in early January of 2010.
The Dell Studio XPS laptop is connected to my wireless router (Belkin Wireless N). The router was purchased in Februaru of 2010 because I thought my router was bad (A D-Link router). Comcast is my ISP.
Everyday, at random times, the internet will have a good signal (according to the little Win 7 icon on the taskbar) but I will receive a message saying limited or no internet access and I cannot access the internet.
I have the internet setup to automatically get an IP and I did the IPCONFIG release / renew but with no success.
I even had a WiFi enabled Blackberry right next to my computer and whenever the computer loses an WiFi connection, so does the Blackberry.
The router isnt't bad, because the old router did the same thing - giving me limited or no internet access while working sometimes.
I also tried using two other laptops in same physical position as my Dell Studio XPS laptop and they have the same problem.
I am going crazy trying to figure this out as I have called the Router Company (Belkin), my ISP (Comcast), and my computer maker (Dell).
Can anyone offer some suggestions and I can try them as we work through this and maybe one of the suggestion will be right one.
Thanks in advance for even reading my problem. I searched for a problem similar to mine on the internet, but I have not been able to keep a steady internet connection.
(Side note - I used to have an IBM thinkpad laptop and D - Link router and for years that wireless connection worked FLAWLESSLY, with the same physical set up - the laptop in my bedroom, and the router in the basement.)
Are there anti-keylogging programs that can keep you safe while you are using a public PC terminal? Do they exist and what are these? I like to know that I am safe when entering data on a public PC for example from malware or keyloggers, who knows where it has been. Or else, how can I keep my personal data safe when using a public PC?
I think this question is relevant for anyone who is concerned about their security on any level.
I work for a community group that holds an annual fund raiser for charity over a weekend. I am an excel user and am wanting to set it up so that I can assign a barcode on a card to a specific person. My hope is to be able to scan the barcode have it take me to a specific cell in the spread sheet so I can update the Commitment amount. and provide as much anonymity for our donors as possible.
Can this even be done?
I am receiving an error when sending a https post message to my server and I am looking to get more information.
I am looking for ssl error log in apache but I cannot find it. I have looked in /usr/local/apache/logs/secure and I don't see the proper error.
Should I be looking in a different place?
UPDATE:
Fyi, the connection is timing out or being lost when I use https and I am trying to figure out why. When I use http it works fine.
I'm sure everyone has experienced it - if you leave a computer on too long, every once in a while, it needs a fresh reboot. I have a laptop, and I only hibernate it, but every week or two, I'm going to need to restart otherwise it will just slow down (usually when windows update makes me restart)
I was wondering though... why? What are some of the things that occur that eat up memory that can seemingly not be freed unless I reboot the OS.
In addition, are there any programs I can get that can free up this memory and keep the computer alive for longer? Preferably for windows 7.
I just got a new work machine up and running and I'm trying to decide on how to set everything up directory wise. I've done some digging around and really haven't been able to find anything conclusive. I know it's a question with a variety of answers but I'm hoping there's some sort of general guidelines or best practices to go by.
With that said, here are a few things specific to my situation.
I will be doing actual development and testing on the same machine as the server. It is a single user machine in the sense that I will be the only one working on the machine.
There will be multiple hosted languages, specifically PHP and RoR while possibly expanding later.
I'd like the setup to translate well to a production environment.
With those 3 things in mind there are a couple of things I've had in the back of mind.
Seeing as it's a single user machine I haven't been able to decide whether or not I should be working on things out of my home directory or if they should be located outside of it. I'm feeling that outside of a user directory would be better as it would translate better to a production environment, but I'm also not sure if that will come with any permission annoyances or concerns seeing as I'll be working on the same machine.
Hosting multiple languages seems like it may be a bit quirky. With PHP I've found you're generally just dumping the project somewhere in the document root where as something like a Rails app you have the entire project and you only want the public directory in the document root.
Thanks for any insight, opinion, or just personal preference from experience anyone can offer.
I spend most of my time in Linux using tiled window managers such as Awesome or DWM. As a result, prefer to use text/terminal applications. Some of my favorites are: Vim, mc, Htop, MOC, GNU Screen, WeeChat, rTorrent, ELinks and Lynx.
What are your must-install text/terminal applications?
Sometimes you need to use different credentials to map different shares, for instance
net use z: \\myserver\myshare /user:mydomain\myusername mypassword
You can use net use to show you the shares that are mapped, but it does not show the mydomain\myusername.
What can I use to show that information?
I'm looking for output like this from the imaginary command NetUseX:

I'm using a (non-administrator) roaming profile, with a size limit of 4MB.
As you can imagine, it is extremely difficult to stay within that size limit.
I've noticed that NTUser.dat, which holds my HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive, is 2560KB, single-handedly using more than half of that limit.
Is there any way to shrink the hive without administrator privileges?
I don't mind losing any settings or preferences stored in it.
I have some .pcm files and I want to convert them on high quality .mp3 format. I tried to find tools by Google search but did not get the right one for me. I will prefer the freeware but if there is not a good freeware then I can also consider the shareware. The pcm format has much large files as I have 200-500 mb so the tool should be able to handle the large files. Please help me regard this problem.
Greetings. I have the following motherboard
Tyan Thunder K8WE S2895A2NRF Motherboard - extended ATX - nForce Pro
2200/2050 - Socket 940 - UDMA133, Serial ATA-300 (RAID) - 2 x Gigabit
Ethernet - FireWire - 6-1 channel audio
This is part of a computer that was assembled in the winter of 2006/2007.
The user manual says the following with regard to SATA
Integrated SATAII Generation 1 Controllers (from NForce Professional 2200)
Two integrated dual port SATA II controllers
Four SATA connectors support up to four drives
3 Gb/s per direction per channel
NvRAID v2.0 support
Supports RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD.
I just purchased a SATA DVD burner. Here is the page for the product
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002QGDWLK/
The problem I am facing is that I already have 4 SATA drives installed. I
don't want to remove any of them. However, I want the DVD burner above
installed as well.
The person I am consulting with here (Bombay, India) tells me that my four
available SATA ports are filled, and that my only option is to install a
SATA card into the one free PCI slot on the motherboard. However, he says
that with this setup I will not be able to boot from the DVD drive.
Are these statements correct, and what are my other options if any? Even
it the statements in the last para are true, I suppose I could use one of
the motherboard connectors/ports there are currently being used with the
hard drives with the DVD drive, and use the "add-on" connector with one of
the hard drives. Not all the 4 hard drives need to be bootable.
BTW, despite having read through
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#Cables.2C_connectors.2C_and_ports
I am fuzzy on the differences between connectors, cables and ports.
Thanks in advance.
I used to use Emacs/GNUS for reading mailing lists, but that feels very 1990. Plus, it doesn't sync my scoring across PCs.
GMail is wonderful, but it kind of sucks for mailing lists. The essential "mute" feature doesn't even work unless the mail is in the Inbox.
I'd read my mailing lists on the Google Groups site, but not all of them are Google Groups.
Basically, I'm looking for the "Google Reader" of mailing lists.
Any suggestions?
I want to learn how to configure my home PC server into a web server with domain and host.
My IP is 109.99.141.133 and now points to a phpinfo page host on my home server. My registed domain is: anunta-anunturi.ro
I searched for a tutorial and I've read that I have to configure /etc/named.conf and the file sources for the new zone that I create.
So, from the tutorials, my /etc/named.conf looks like this:
//
// named.conf
//
// Provided by Red Hat bind package to configure the ISC BIND named(8) DNS
// server as a caching only nameserver (as a localhost DNS resolver only).
//
// See /usr/share/doc/bind*/sample/ for example named configuration files.
//
options {
listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; };
listen-on-v6 port 53 { ::1; };
directory "/var/named";
dump-file "/var/named/data/cache_dump.db";
statistics-file "/var/named/data/named_stats.txt";
memstatistics-file "/var/named/data/named_mem_stats.txt";
allow-query { localhost; };
recursion yes;
dnssec-enable yes;
dnssec-validation yes;
dnssec-lookaside auto;
/* Path to ISC DLV key */
bindkeys-file "/etc/named.iscdlv.key";
managed-keys-directory "/var/named/dynamic";
};
logging {
channel default_debug {
file "data/named.run";
severity dynamic;
};
};
zone "anunta-anunturi.ro" IN {
type master;
file "/etc/anunta-anunturi.db";
};
zone "." IN {
type hint;
file "named.ca";
};
include "/etc/named.rfc1912.zones";
include "/etc/named.root.key";
My /etc/anunta-anunturi.db file looks like this — I'm not sure if this is okay, or if it's the easy one.

Extra info:
At home I receive internet from my ISP through a router. My home PC and server recieve their IP automatically from the router when I start/restart.
In my local home network, my server receives the IP 192.168.1.37 from the router.
When I enter 109.99.141.133 in my browser, it points to the rooter that forwards port 80 to local IP 192.168.1.37 (my home server)
Questions:
Are my two files good?
What/where is my nameserver that I need to copy/paste to my top level domain (where I registered my domain: rotld.ro)?
Is it possible to create an SSH tunnel over http-proxy when https access is denied?
I had such configuration in .ssh\config
Host home
User root
Hostname *my-home-pc-with-ssh-access-allowed*
Port 8090
ProxyCommand corkscrew db-isa-01 8080 %h %p ~/.ssh/.corkscrew-db-isa-auth
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa
Where db-isa-01 is my corporate proxy server. Today the admins blocked all https access and allowed it only for few servers on the white list.
I used this command to create a tunnel:
ssh -D 7070 -o 'GatewayPorts yes' -A -q -g -t root@home
and now it doesn't work. As I can understand, that's because our proxy denies all https connections
Proxy could not open connnection to ***: Proxy Error ( The specified
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. Forefront TMG is not configured to
allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests. )
P.S. I use Windows 7, and corscskrew with cygwin, so Linux solutions not suitable for me.
Somebody I know expressed irritation today regarding those of us who tend not to use spaces in our filenames, e.g. NamingThingsLikeThis.txt -- despite most modern operating systems supporting spaces in filenames. Non-technical people must look at filenames created by geeks and wonder where we learned English.
So, what are the reasons that spaces in filenames are avoided or discouraged?
The most obvious reason I could think of, and why I typically avoid it, are the extra quotes required on the command line when dealing with such files.
Are there any other significant reasons, other than the practice being a vestigial preference?
UPDATE: Thanks for all your answers! I'm surprised how popular this was. So, here's a summary:
Six Reasons Why Geeks Prefer Filenames Without Spaces In Them
It's irritating to put quotes around them when referenced on the command line (or elsewhere.)
Some older operating systems didn't used to support them and us old dogs are used to that.
Some tools still don't support spaces in filenames at all or very well. (But they should.)
It's irritating to escape spaces when used where spaces must be escaped, such as URLs.
Certain unenlightened services (e.g. file hosting, webmail) remove or replace spaces anyway!
Names without spaces can be shorter, which is sometimes desirable as paths are limited.
The title says it all. I am trying to decide between sockets and just cant pinpoint which to get based on pros and cons. The build this will go into will be my primary PC. It will be used for every day computing, coding, some multimedia and gaming. I have read that 1155 and 2011 will be dead within the new year and that Haswell will double the performance of Ivy Bridge. What is a general run down on the different sockets? Pros and Cons? More specifically what are the technical differences between the three?
