  • Good Java graph algorithm library?

    Has anyone had good experiences with any Java libraries for Graph algorithms. I've tried JGraph and found it ok, and there are a lot of different ones in google. Are there any that people are actually using successfully in production code or would recommend? To clarify, I'm not looking for a library that produces graphs/charts, I'm looking for one that helps with Graph algorithms, eg minimum spanning tree, Kruskal's algorithm Nodes, Edges, etc. Ideally one with some good algorithms/data structures in a nice Java OO API.

  • Has anyone ever successfully made PyWebShot work in windows?

    I've googled a lot,and still can't make it work, each time it reports some dll load failed(mainly because of gtk,how can I make it work in windows without ImportError: DLL load failed?)... I'm gonna uninstall all python/gtk related stuff and start from the beginning. Is there a tutorial that covers every problem of the installation?

    why does the following js expression: "test1 foo bar test2".replace(/foo.bar/, "$'") result in the following string? "test1 test2 test2" is the $' in the replace string some sort of control code for including everything after the match??? this behavior was screwing with me most of the day. can anyone explain this? thanks a lot ps- this is the case in all browsers i've tested

  • Floating point vs integer calculations on modern hardware

    I am doing some performance critical work in C++, and we are currently using integer calculations for problems that are inherently floating point because "its faster". This causes a whole lot of annoying problems and adds a lot of annoying code. Now, I remember reading about how floating point calculations were so slow approximately circa the 386 days, where I believe (IIRC) that there was an optional co-proccessor. But surely nowadays with exponentially more complex and powerful CPUs it makes no difference in "speed" if doing floating point or integer calculation? Especially since the actual calculation time is tiny compared to something like causing a pipeline stall or fetching something from main memory? I know the correct answer is to benchmark on the target hardware, what would be a good way to test this? I wrote two tiny C++ programs and compared their run time with "time" on Linux, but the actual run time is too variable (doesn't help I am running on a virtual server). Short of spending my entire day running hundreds of benchmarks, making graphs etc. is there something I can do to get a reasonable test of the relative speed? Any ideas or thoughts? Am I completely wrong? Since Shape is a Drawable, and Drawables are usually defined as XML, it sounds a lot like the vector drawing commands in SVG. My question is this: Has anybody created an XSLT transformation, or other mechanism, for converting an SVG drawing description into Android Shapes?

  • Unable to publish on user's facebook wall through blackberry application

    I want to publish a post to user's wall..for this first i am making user to log in and getting the session id also...but in order to publish i need the user to grant me publish_stream permission..so immmediately after i am obtaining auth_token by capturing url of the login success screen, i am making call to http://www.facebook.com/connect/prompt%5Fpermissions.php? with "api_key","ext_perm","display" as parameteres..but when the above url is redirected and displayed on BrowserField i am seeing "Incompatible web browser " instead of the permission granting dialog or popup..i will be greatful if anyone can help...thanx a lot

  • Are Drupal theme settings cached?

    i want to change theme_username, a core theme function that outputs that dreadful "not verified" string on users who are not logged in (when they comment, for example). i want a checkbox in admin/build/themes/settings/MYTHEME to change that. but since that theme function gets called a lot, will it hurt the performance of any site using my theme or are theme settings cached?

  • Should you do validation checks that go outside the possiblility of normal user activity?

I have been told time and time again to check if form input is a number if you are expecting a number or escape it in case (unless you use proper mysqli formatting) to avoid injection. 1.After the safety checks are done, should I do additional logic checks? For example, if the user is sending a friend request to them-self for example even if my user interface will not show the form if the user is looking at their own page.

    The standard HTTP Authentication for SOAP passed the password etc in cleartext,and I'm looking for an alternative, possibly a key based mechanism to authenticate web services in lieu of the password. OAuth is gaining a lot of popularity; would it be appropriate, and how would I implement it? Or perhaps there are other methods I should use. The project itself is relatively simple, with just a one or two methods to be exposed, but security is of the utmost importance.

  • Is html font size using em still important

    In a web LOB web based SaaS product we are developing that we explicitly not support IE 6, only IE7/8, FF 3, Chrome, Opera, WebKit etc... which allow px resize as standard, is it still important to use em rather than px? Its a lot more work to consider the compute font size (size em are computed from their inheritance chain) especially when nesting html reuse components where a font-size has already been specified in an outer container.
