  • How can I disable a model field in a django form

    - by jammon
    I have a model like this: class MyModel(models.Model): REGULAR = 1 PREMIUM = 2 STATUS_CHOICES = ((REGULAR, "regular"), (PREMIUM, "premium")) name = models.CharField(max_length=30) status = models.IntegerField(choices = STATUS_CHOICES, default = REGULAR) class MyForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = models.MyModel In a view I initialize one field and try to make it non-editable: myform = MyForm(initial = {'status': requested_status}) myform.fields['status'].editable = False But the user can still change that field. What's the real way to accomplish what I'm after?

  • How do I upload a file, process it and return a result file in a single request to a REST WCF service?

    - by sharptooth
I need to implement the following scenario in a REST service implemented in WCF: the user submits a binary file and a set of parameters the server consumes the file, does some clever work and generates a binary output file the user retrieves that binary result file and all that is done in a single operation from the client perspective. It's pretty easy in a non-REST service. How do I do that in a REST service? Where do I get started?

  • question and answer engine architecture

    - by sarvesh
Can anyone give me insights as to how websites like chacha.com / kgb.com are designed. What could be the components involved when a user sends out an sms and how is that question stored. Should the question and answers be stored in a relational model or non relational?

  • How can I identify whether a browser/reader is being used by someone who is visually impaired?

    - by Mark Brittingham
I have to provide a 508-compliant version of a page for the visually impaired and it isn't practical to just modify the page. Thus, I have created a new "reader-compatible" version of the page for the handicapped. The question is how I can tell if someone is using a reader rather than a standard browser? Is there a "header" or "useragent" value typically used by these non-standard browsers that I can look for? Thanks in advance!

  • PHP preg_replace - Very quick question

    - by RC
Masters of regular expressions, please help! See this string: $string = "http://www.url.com/?fieldA=123&fieldB=456&fieldC=789"; Assuming "fieldB" always has a positive non-decimal numerical value (but not necessarily three digits long), what preg_replace command do I need to remove it completely, such that the string will then read: $string = "http://www.url.com/?fieldA=123&fieldC=789"; Thanks!

  • Playing with Strings

    - by HARSHITH
Given a string and a non-empty word string, return a string made of each char just before and just after every appearance of the word in the string. Ignore cases where there is no char before or after the word, and a char may be included twice if it is between two words. wordEnds("abcXY123XYijk", "XY") ? "c13i" wordEnds("XY123XY", "XY") ? "13" wordEnds("XY1XY", "XY") ? "11"

  • Blackberry (Java) - Setting scrolling be not focused on objects on the screen

    - by paullb
I have a mainscreen which currently scrolls (and I have the arrows on the right) but the scrolling seems to be focused on the ButtonField objects that I have on the page. Is there any way to set the scrolling to be non-focused scrolling (moving a few pixels each time). Is there a way to set this? Other ideas I have had (which sound hacky so I want to avoid): - Placing NullFields around to scroll - Manually listening to the trackwheelRoll event and moving appropriately

  • Implementing In App purchases in Android?

    - by hgpc
It looks like Android won't natively support in-app purchases for a while, and when it does there might be a huge user base with devices that don't support them. What's the best way to implement iPhone-like (additional content or services) in-app purchases in Android using the Android Market if possible? The solution should consider in particular: For all kinds of in-app purchases: Android Market's 24-hour cancellation policy For consumables/non-consumables: storage of additional content (ie: use precious application memory to avoid piracy, or use SD card to avoid bloating application memory) Thanks!

  • Facebook Connect in Silverlight

    - by Mike Pateras
Is there a good way to get Facebook Connect onto a Silverlight page? All I really need is simple authorization/registration. I've looked into the facebook developer toolkit, but the documentation is more or less non-existent for Silverlight, and I didn't really get anywhere with it. Is there a good tutorial or a working library for adding Facebook Connect into a Silverlight app? Or is the best way to run Silverlight in Windowwless mode with HTML overlayed on top?

  • F# constructor syntax - overiding and augmenting new

    - by Benjol
I have a non-disposable class with Open/Close syntax that I'd like to be able to use, so I'm trying to inherit from it, and work the Open into the new and the Close into Dispose. The second part is ok, but I can't work out how to do the Open: type DisposableOpenCloseClass(openargs) = inherit OpenCloseClass() //do this.Open(openargs) <-- compiler no like interface IDisposable with member this.Dispose() = this.Close() (cf. this question which I asked a long time ago, but I can't join the dots to this one)

  • What alternatives to __attribute__ exist on 64-bit kernels?

    - by Saifi Khan
Hi: Is there any alternative to non-ISO gcc specific extension __attribute__ on 64-bit kernels ? Three types that i've noticed are: function attributes, type attributes and variable attributes. eg. i'd like to avoid using __attribute__((__packed__)) for structures passed over the network, even though some gcc based code do use it. Any suggestions or pointers on how to entirely avoid __attribute__ usage in C systems/kernel code ? thanks Saifi.

  • how to convince website users to use openid

    - by isolatedIterator
Perhaps this isn't the best forum for this question. If so, would one of the other child sites be more suitable? I am wondering how to overcome the learning curve of convincing a non-technical bunch of users how and what open id is. how do you convince users that it is a good thing and that they want to use it?
